An Nod to My Scottish Heritage

Posted on: December 7, 2012

My mother was so proud of her Scottish heritage and wore tartan plaids her entire life.  I remember having kilts as a child and I always loved them and felt so special when wearing them. I found this one at thrift store recently and hope to be wearing it before too long, just need to lose a little more weight first.

I found this Pendleton blazer at the Salvation Army thrift store and had to buy it as an ode to my mother.  This will be my fourth Christmas without her and I have reached beyond the walls of the mourning process and am ready to embrace this holiday season with pure joy.

The very last thing on my mother’s bucket list was to take a trip to Scotland and I am happy to say that I helped motivate her to exercize and get strong enough to go. At first she only lasted one minute on the bike, but she came back later that day and did another minute.  Each day she did more until she was up to 30 minutes twice a day.  That hard work allowed her to get strong enough to move home and to take that much desired trip to Scotland with my brother named Scott (no accident, she loved her heritage!).

IMG_0853This outfit felt very equestrian to me and I rather liked it.  It was very comfortable and what I wore on the road trip of a total 6 hours in the car.

IMG_0866I tried on several outfits yesterday and was getting frustrated.  I almost scrapped this one as it felt too dark and then I remembered this scarf and then I felt like it really did the trick of lightening things up.  Notice that I can’t seem to hold this purse right and always had it facing backward… Oh well it was a quick photo session before hopping in the car…

Dear readers, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  I plan to get started on Christmas as I am way behind… As always your comments are welcomed and greatly appreciated…. I don’t usually post on Saturday, but come visit as I will be revealing my new haircut and color….Thanks to my wonderful hairdresser for fitting me in to his crazy schedule today!

It’s a lovely outfit. I love the jacket and scarf. The rest of the look is great and you are very British, very elegant. I am Catalan, and the Catalans have in Scotland a myth too. A beautiful set.

Thank you for taking the time to comment and for such kindness….

Again, you created another incredible outfit! Love green!
