My Lucky Finds

on:This week I went thrifting for a single mom friend of mine to help create a style that she feels is more her, bohemian…. It was fun since it is not at all my style. I hope that she likes my interpretation. Going to have to wait to deliver the goods and see how I did. No photographs, but would love to do a photo session with her once we get her a great wardrobe that she feels is her.
Giving to others brings me much pleasure, but when thrifting, it’s almost impossible to not indulge and buy a few things for myself.
This J. Crew dress is such a fabulous color and a very flattering style. Ready for a vacation to warmer climates or may just have to wait until summer….This cost me just $3.50. The color isn’t showing up well, so imagine it as “watermelon”.
This navy sweater by Ann Taylor Petite is so thick and warm that I just couldn’t pass it up, after all it was half price day and was only $2.00. I love heavy sweaters!
This ruffle grey sheer blouse is just the thing for my romantic side and I have a perfect cami to wear under it. It is a Mossimo and was just $1.50.
Last is this sweater that literally felt like it called to me. The colors are all ones that I am drawn to and the added button detail just takes it up a notch. It is by Tad b and was just $1.50. Not knowing this brand but feeling like it was good quality, I looked it up and found that it is carried in Dillards, Norsdstrom and Lord & Taylor.
I love thrifting and had great conversations with other thrifters who all say after starting this that they can not see going back to full retail… I am not of that mindset. While I love the ability to get really well made items for less, I still will want to shop retail. I think it will just be a matter of adding a few things each season that follow the trends once I sift through and keep only what flatters me and that I love…
I do have one major complaint about Salvation Army thrift store as they staple the price tags onto the clothing, making it very difficult to remove the tags without putting holes in cotton shirts…I used a pair of tweezers to remove them, but still had problems…
Gratitude: Glad for the weekend and break from blogging, was a busy week… Looking forward to first weekend with all 6 of us home….Most grateful that my daughters school thought outside the box and really tried to take the stress out of exam week by bringing dogs on campus, creating an ice skating rink, adding a tent into the library with tactile activities such as legos and playdough… So grateful that all the pressure of taking GRE, applying to grad schools, doing a senior project and just higher level classes, all are gone and my daughters light is shining brightly again!
Dear Readers, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and will come back next week to see what I am up to… Take care and take time to enjoy family!
