Date Night- Twenty-two Year Anniversary

My dear husband is really and I mean really loving my looks with booties and tights.  I tried this outfit on to ask his opinion for wearing tonight for our Anniversary.   He got up and lightly rubbed down the length of my leg to the bootie and told me how much he adores this look. I guess that means this outfit is a winner in his book.  I just think he is so happy to see his wife getting back to herself.  It has been a long road getting here after the death of my mother and eleven months later, the death of his brother.   We are both just getting back to ourselves.  That is something to celebrate!

Tom and I met by chance at a bar one night when I was with my sister and he was with his Navy friends.  He talked to me that night and I told him where I worked.  He got a second  job a few months later at Olive Garden and the minute I saw him, he took my breath away.  He didn’t remember what the girl from the bar looked like and I didn’t have a clue that I had met him before, but we were drawn together.  Shortly after we began dating I gave him a sarcastic look that was like the one I had given him at the bar that night and that is when he put it together.

We married after having known  each other just seven months and were pregnant at the time.  He was just 22 and I was 25.  A lot of people thought we were crazy and everyone warned us we wouldn’t make it as a married couple.  They didn’t know how similar our religious views were, how much we loved each other and how determined we were to make our family work.  We knew and we believed in each other and we ignored everyone’s concerns.  I was blessed to have a mother who supported my decision, after all she had only known my father for six weeks before marrying him.  I know that path isn’t for everyone( I wouldn’t recommend it to my own children), but like my mother and father, Tom and I spent many nights talking until 6 a. m about the things that matter and really getting to know each others values.  I bet we had more conversations than most couples have in two years.  It was those conversations that led us to have great confidence that this path was right for us.  I am glad we both felt so strongly and now have the family we dreamed of back then.  The only joke on us is that we had children 4 1/2 years apart so they wouldn’t be in college at the same time…. Now they are all getting advanced degrees… We couldn’t be prouder and more joyful at what our union has produced.  We are looking forward to these last years parenting and what comes next. No big plans just going out to dinner and back home, I am still feeling worn out and tired.

Happy Anniversary! 22 years is really something to celebrate. My husband and I have been married almost 13 years. Marriage is a lot of work and commitment, but it makes it all worth it when you find your soulmate. You look wonderful in your gorgeous jacket and that awesome skirt! Have fun tonight 🙂 Heather

Yes, Heather, marriage takes a lot of work and commitment and I am lucky that we both are committed to it.

Love your outfit, Tracey! That’s such a great floral print skirt.

Love the outfit, but loved your story even more!! Happy anniversary!

Thank you, felt like I could have told that story better, just not up to my usual self, but it translated ok….

I love the blue colour of the jacket. Pretty outfit on you.

twenty two years! that is amazing. i am getting married in april so that is a true inspiration to see especially when i have friends already divorced from single digit year marriages. i digress. i like how the blazer picks up the skirt, good color to feature! i am new to blogging and see that you are relatively new, any advice?
