Pinterest Inspiration- Green & Orange

Posted on: January 27, 2013

I saw this look on Pinterest and thought, I have all the things in my closet to do a version of this..

Love the bright blazer with the black shirt underneath.

I  love using Pinterest for inspiration because I only pin things that work with items I already own.  This one was especially simple as I did a very literal interpretation of this look. Please Pardon the squinting in the photos… I broke my sunglasses and because my eyes are a very light brown they are sun sensitive…

Since it is cold right now I am going to adapt this by wearing a turtleneck for added warmth.  I love scoop necks and v-necks, but I am very practical and don’t like to freeze.  I wish I had put sweater tights on and layered more as it was freezing…

Not all looks result in such a literal translation.  Sometimes it’s just colors that work well together.  This look was just too easy… I wish all Pinterest Inspirations were  this close to the original.  At least that is how I am feeling today…

If you know me everything is subject to change and there are days when I love being more creative.   But for today the only thing I had to figure out on my own was what to put on my feet, earrings and a purse…Still cold, so boots were necessary!  Wish I had chosen a different purse… This one is by Reverse a Purse and has reversible covers… It seems like this company may have gone under as the website has not been working for  awhile now and no one is answering questions on their Facebook page… A shame as I would have ordered more.

Linking Up With Visible Monday, lots of other bloggers to explore...on Watch What I’m Wearing &  GlamaMom  as well.

Dear Readers, How many of you use Pinterest as inspirations for outfits?  If so do you like to pin things that will work with what you already own or do you prefer to use it as a visual for items you’d like in your closet?  Do you do literal translations, more creative ones maybe just using the color combos as a jumping off point? Love to hear from you , so chime in!

Gratitude: I am grateful that I thought I was getting sick but it didn’t evolve into anything except a tiny bit of congestion… I am grateful that 12 year old Connor who hates the cold as much as I do, took my photos.  I am grateful that my husband made chili, perfect for a cold evening and leftovers so I won’t have to cook for a few days!!!!

Cute. And I just happen to have those items in my closet as well! I haven’t started looking for outfit ideas on pinterest, but I have gotten a lot from Audrey at “Putting Me Together.” If you haven’t checked out her blog, I highly recommend it.

Love Audrey’s blog. Funny that you have items for this look as well…

Well, you nailed the look! It helps so much to find these inspirations to keep our wardrobes fresh! You look great in these and the color combos are fun!

thank you and yes these inspirations are helpful…

I love your Pinterest challenge. I pin items I want or similar to. After I fell in love with your zebra slingbacks, guess what I found at Goodwill today ? Zebra mules! I thought of you!

How fun and quite funny that you found those at Goodwill so soon after my posting!! I think using Pinterest as a wish list is great and just added a board for that.

Wonderful inspired look! I am using Pinterest more and more as time goes on; there’s a wealth of inspiration out there. Thanks for sharing this fab look with Visible Monday.

I worry that if I get too hooked on Pinterest, I’ll never look up from my computer! I should try to copy a look, though. I usually just get general ideas of ways to wear belts, scarves, layers and such.

Everyone seems to have that necklace now! But I love the bold colors of it with the green jacket.

yes, Pinterest does have an addictive quality… thanks for commenting…

Great look! I use Pinterest for ideas and inspiration. I only pin things I love and would absolutely wear. It has been interesting going through my style board and seeing a pattern. On my style board, there are lots of jewel tones, sheath dresses in all patterns and colors, vintage style dresses (even though I currently don’ t own any), pencil skirts, cardigans, stripes, scarves, chambray, chiffon print blouses, motorcycle jackets, modern bootcut jeans, leopard print, unique and colorful accessories and great shoes. It has helped me clearly identify what I love.

Interesting so your boards seem like they are helping you to define a style direction that you may want to move into.. another plus to using Pinterest!

There you are in that beautiful green color that works so well on you. A very nice outfit was inspired by the Pinterest photo. I try to Pin mostly things I could adapt from my closet to some degree also. So fun to find new outfits amongst things I already have.

I agree, I think it opens us up to trying combinations we might not have come up with and makes our wardrobe more usable and dare I say versatile…

Great idea using Pinterest. I love this color combo as well. I need to get one of those fabulous necklaces. I absolutely love them. Looking good.

I found my necklace on ebay for just $6.50 and free shipping.and got it in green, orange and black… wish I had gotten one in a more pastel color for spring instead of the black…

I’m way impressed by the fact that you had that fab necklace and were able to copy so literally! Love it, love it! I followed you from Visible Monday.

I’m way impressed that you had that fabulous necklace so were able to copy so literally. Love it, love it.

I followed you here from Visible Monday.

thank you, found your comment in my spam file, glad I looked…

Hi there! Loving your blog, my name is Katie Elliott I am the creator of Tag a Trend.co.uk (www.tagatrend.co.uk) The website works like this: each week I announce a new fashion trend, and people then tag themselves on Facebook wearing that trend. This is done by tagging their picture with the Tag a Trend Facebook page. The best pics then appear on my site.
This week’s trend is skinny jeans and as can see you are loving the trend, I thought you might be interested in getting involved and tagging yourself in your fave paid. The picture will appear on both my site and Facebook (both with a direct link back to your blog.)
Look forward to hearing from you!
Katie

Pinterest is my latest obsession. I spend way too much time on there. I do pin things that I like the look of regardless of whether or not I have a similar item.
You did a great job of making your own inspired look. Love the jacket.

I go through spurts of spending lots of time on Pinterest and then back off. . glad I don’t let it completely take over as it is dangerously addictive…I think that pinning things you like is a useful tool to go back and look to see if thee is a pattern and maybe something you should add to your style…

Ohhh… your outfit makes me long even more for the spring! Very pretty colors!

I thought the same thing about spring , which is why I chose this inspiration, thank you…

Literal it may be, but still a personal variation on the theme. Looking so good … healthy and svelte. Enjoy ever minute.
