Unseasonably Warm & Weigh In Day

Posted on: January 29, 2013

Tuesday’s high was 67 degrees!  For this skirt and dress lover it was  a great reprieve… It was nice enough to go bare legged!  Can you believe the high for today is expected to be 72?   Then by Friday snow again… CRAZY!!!

IMG_1782This skirt is one I had thrifted a while back and had yet to wear!  Thinking my legs need a little color!

IMG_1787This outfit was what I planned to wear for my weigh in day, but since I was sick and running a fever last night, I didn’t go.  I did weigh myself and I lost one pound.. Wish it was more,  I am so ready to lose this last ten pounds. I have a question for those of you Dear Readers who are late forties or older.  I am experiencing PMS symptoms beginning a full ten days before my cycle begins.  That means bloating and painful , swollen,  tender breasts… This does not help my weight loss journey as I gain at least  two pounds each time this happens… This is a real change as prior to this my symptoms were milder and only 3 days before… Anyone experience anything like this?

IMG_1794I am glad I chose this lighter shade bag rather than a black one.. I grew up watching my mother always match her shoes and bag and that training is still in the back of my mind… Today I resisted it even though that instinct was strong.   Fashion trends these days are so much more fun as the rules are much more relaxed and are more guidelines than the hard and fast. No white after Labor Day , that  women really adhered to strongly and look down on anyone not following the rule… I still remember my mother fighting with my sister when as a teenager she wanted to not wear a slip under her skirts and dresses… My mother who grew up with money and went to an all girls private school, was appalled and found it totally indecent… Then again in my early years we still wore white gloves to church.. Boy have things changed!

Linking up with What I Wore Wednesay and Get Your Pretty On and The Pleated Poppy so head on over and see what the lovey ladies are wearing!

Gratitude:  I am grateful for hugs from my 12 year old today… who when I complimented him on giving good hugs, promised to hug me forever!!!   Grateful to 17 year old Nicholas for humoring me and taking photos for three different outfits ( taking advantage of the weather!) I am grateful to my dear friend who after reading my blog, put the Dressing Your Truth book on hold for me at the library.  I am grateful that when I woke up my sinus troubles of the day before were, but a bad memory!   Most of all I want to thank God for answered prayers!

Beautiful skirt. I am starting to think (with dread) about beginning the process of applying my light tinted moisturizer again. It gives me just a little color, which I am defiinitely needing, but I have to apply it every couple of days and be careful of blotchiness on my legs and feet. Gone are my tanning bed days. I used to own a couple and have a business and I did waaaaaay too much of that for too long.

I have never been a tanning bed person! I may be headed to the Cayman Island’s at the end of Feb. and was thinking about just doing it right before the trip to get some color before spending a week in the sun…

We are having wild weather too! Your skirt is beautiful and I love the neutral black and tan combo. Your bracelets are fun too!

The weird weather just makes dressing fun and the dream of Spring real!!

Love the outfit and the story about your Mother! I don’t match my shoes to my handbag buy I do make sure they compliment one another or the outfit.

I feel like I am just learning that little trick.. Don”t know if I mentioned it, but I got use to not using purses much and didn’t for a godd 15 years… Spreading the children 4 1/2 years apart meant diaper bags for eons!

Hi thanks for visiting my blog. I love this outfit on you and your photographers are really capturing you at your best. I too am experiencing weird weather and weird sinus problems. I had vertigo two weeks ago which is related to my sinuses and middle ear…Anyways I like your pattern mixing as well the colors are subtle and really work.

Oh I had vertigo last May while we were on vacation in Nags Head and it was terrible! Hope your sinuse get in check!
Funny that my photographers of late have been my 12 ans 17 year old sons who are just barely tolerating it!!! I am learning for the first time in my life that I take pretty good photos, another by product of doing a blog!

This up and down weather is driving me nuts! I always end up either over or under dressing for the temps. Congrats on the weight loss. A loss is a loss! Thanks for linking up today.

Nice, I too am sans hose today because of the warm temps and your legs are fine. I understand your weight loss plight, however, I am menopausal and have gained 15 lbs that I can take off no matter how hard I try and it’s really frustrating!!!

That is frustrating!!! I wonder what the answer is and how you can get past that???

Hello, I love the colors of your skirt. The pattern is interesting without being too busy. To increase your weight loss, you may have to increase the intensity or time (or distance, etc) of your workout. When I attended W W, I limited my starch to 2 servings a day (I loved white rice & had 1 cup at dinnertime). Before I would lose like 1/4 or 1/2 lb. a week & was very discouraged until I limited my starches. Afterwards, I was losing 1 to 2 lbs. a week. As far as your PMS, can you use Advil? Please check with your doctor before self-medicating. Advil helps me with my sinus headaches & some of my PMS symptoms.

I do limit the carbohydrates and that is great advice. When I recovered from the flu I was left with a lack of appetite and could only manage bagels and peanut butter & banana sandwiches. This lasted for two weeks after the flu symptoms so guess I should be happy with just a one pound gain…

love the print on the skirt – really a great thrift!!
Isn’t this weather crazy? It was up to 55 today, but tomorrow isn’t looking as good. wish spring would hurry up!

I love the colors of this outfit 🙂 Great style! And also, your legs are fine! No need to change who you are! You are beautiful as is 🙂 Wonderfully & fearfully made!

So jealous of your weather (but not the PMS symptoms!)
