Sassy Silhouette

Posted on: May 22, 2013

A busy day doing laundry, housecleaning and home schooling, spent in a skirt and tank top… I had to run to the grocery store and drug store so changed to the dress I showed in my thrifted finds yesterday…

A perfect dress for air-conditioned stores!   I was quite surprised to see a number of women in sleeveless dresses, but it was in the 80’s so it makes sense.  I just can’t go shopping without my shoulders and at least my upper arms covered …

I was pleasantly surprised by a nice breeze that made takin photos a challenge…This outfit cost me so little that I have to mention it…

The dress by Max Studio was thrifted for just $3.50 and the Anne Klien shoes were just $4, while the Dooney & Bourke purse was a gift from a friend….Even my bracelets were purchased from Ebay and were part of a set of 100 vintage bracelets that I purchased for $40.

I love this dress and will grab it often as it is such a stand alone piece that needs little accessories and provides maximum impact with the print and let’s not forget super comfortable and flattering to my figure… I have to say that A-line dresses or skirts really just make me feel so Sassy and like dancing!  Note to self….find more of those..

I am picturing this with tights and booties and a sweater or jacket for Fall….

Dear Readers, I hope to find some dresses like this that my daughter will like to add for her work wardrobe.  I offered her this one, but she objected to the print.  She has a few Calvin Klein dresses that are all solids and an olive shirtdress, but nothing as casual and easy as this… I just hope that she doesn’t try so much to be different from me that she limits herself too much.  She definitely wants a style separate and not at all like mine, so wonder what she will come up with. I have to be careful and not make suggestions or she will immediately not like it.    Will be fun to watch… Are all daughters so complicated???  I still get the biggest kick out of my oldest son’s style choices and so wish he would let me phototgraph him  and post about it but alas he is just too introverted.  That’s the funny part his style  and color choices are brave  and you would never guess he was shy….

Gratitude:  I am grateful that Walgreens had my cinnamon pills ( taken for as I couldn’t remember where I had purchased them from… I am grateful that my husband didn’t go to work unitl noon and was home before 8 pm today(Wednesday).  I am grateful that my husband is as I am typing this watching the show revealing the new Xbox game system that the boys watched yestereday and couldn’t wait to share with him.  I am grateful that my seventeen year old made dinner for the kids and I was able to just cook up some chicken and zuchinni for myself.

I love the dress! I like a little sleeve on my dresses because I get cold indoors! You look beautiful! And your handbag rocks too!

Thank you! My husband and I popped back into the grocery store later in the evening and I was noticing a few women in spaghetti strapped dresses shivering and getting out of there as quickly as possible..Might be a good weight loss technique, “Go grocery shopping in the summer in skimpy clothing!”

This is definitely a great dress and very flattering on you! I can also see it as a great swimsuit cover up to go from the beach to dinner and drinks after 🙂

Yes, all daughters are complicated I think. Kayla is in serious senior-itis mode and has been extremely difficult these past few weeks!

I just keep telling myself that her brain is still growing and I just have to hang in there a few more years… Remember mid 20’s and all the wires are connected and they see more clearly… I was so happy when that stage hit my oldest a few years ago and I am so much happier with him these days..

Great dress! I love dresses like that too, and I am wearing one right now. It is a Nicole Miller that I thrifted for $4! I also just found a great maxi dress for $4 as well. Both have great bold patterns, and I much prefer that over solids. As far as teenage girls being complicated? Yikes! My daughter is sooo picky about clothes that she ends up mostly wearing just jeans and t-shirts to school. She is tall and leggy with a perfect figure (she actually has a 6 pack!) and hides it under jeans and Ts. She is introverted, like your son, and doesn’t like to stand out, so she usually underplays her looks to avoid attention. The exception to this is her prom dress, which is a floor length, form fitting, sequined, back baring sheath. It is stunning, and she looks about 25 in it! Prom night is going to be very long.

Yes, Prom nights are looonggg! My daughter was uncomfortable with her body up until 16 when I sent her to Japan on a student ambassador program… she experienced a community bath and was noticing all they younger girls staring at her breast in awe as she was a full C-cup and she came home a different more confident young woman… I think she has just decided she wants to be nothing like her mother and am worried about how that will haunt her… I watched my sister do that with my own mother…

you look great, I love the print and colors on you!

You look fab love the colours you put together! Have a great weekend:)

I love the pattern on that dress! Thanks for linking up!
