My Lucky Finds

Posted on: June 13, 2013

After reading a new blog about the opening of a new Goodwill near me, I traveled the 30 minutes to it and was not at all disappointed. This was not just any Goodwill… It is 21,000 sq ft.  Read more at Got It At GoodWill.

Part of that store is an Outlet Store that sells by the pound, I will show the remainder of those purchases at another time. For now I will show you two bathrobes that were part of my $1.19 per pound lot.

Dear Reader’s , No one else was looking at the winter clothes and the racks were packed full, so I concentrated on the printed sweaters I love,  and are expensive new…I would never be able to own this variety if I wasn’t thrifting them, so super happy.! Packing them away for now, but when you are a thrifter you can find wonderful things for all seasons at any time of the year.  Any favorites???

I hope you all have  a Wonderful Father’s Day Weekend!

Do You have anything special planned for the Father or Husband in your life?

This is a recipe for Olive Garden’s Peaches and Cream Cheesecake, and my husband’s favorite.  I use to work for the O. G. and have been making this for him for 23 years now!!!!   A wonderful treat for my hardworking husband on Father’s Day!

Gratitude

I am grateful for the rain that swept in late today and took temperatures from the high 90’s to mid 70’s!

I am grateful that Friday  is the last day of school for Nicholas and the last day of testing for homeschooling Connor!

I am grateful that the electricity flickered but did not go off during the fast moving storm and winds.

I am grateful that my sinus pressure headache subsided late in the day.

Boy, more great finds! I particularly like the sheer navy tunic and the nautical top.
Your self imposed shopping bans run about like mine. haha But when you’re a size you haven’t been in a looooong time and great stuff is such amazing prices…it’s so hard not to want to deck yourself out. Ya know?
I did do another mini closet clean out the past couple of days though to try to make up for my recent purchases…that I wasn’t supposed to make. lol Does that make it okay in the end? Even things out? I say yes. 🙂
And I’m not EVEN going to LOOK at that cheesecake recipe. haha

Yes, stay away from that recipe! I have done a closet purge myself. As I had done winter one, but not yet the the Spring one… I still need shorts, so the ban is off for now.. I think July will be a better time for that. It is so addictive though… and my husband doesn’t mind… which doesn’t help…

Do I have any favorites? Just every item! I adore printed cardis, and have picked up several lately for $4 and below. I did the same thing you did with the sweaters at a recent 50% off sale at one of my fave thrift shops. I bought so many sweaters for $1 and $2 that I had to get a shopping cart because I could no longer carry all of them without help! My favorites were a brightly colored floral LOFT cardi for $1.50 and a long, 100% wool GAP hoodie for $2. A funny thing has been happening lately while shopping for clothes…I keep overestimating my size and ending up with items that are too big. I was wearing a 2X last summer, and I keep picking up 1Xs and XLs thinking they will fit and they DO NOT!! I’m still not used to my smaller body, and it just keeps getting smaller. Thank you, Tracey! I hate to think how big I would be if I hadn’t found your blog.

What fun!!!! I am getting use to looking at things and knowing right off whether they are my size.. I still rry everything on before buying. I am so happy to hear of your weight loss success!

You did so well Tracey! I just paid full price for a blue and white striped top (£25) and just bought a (used) Edina Ronay animal print angora mix cardigan off ebay (£15). I do have an animal print jumper but it’s too large now I have lost weight. I am sure you have the same problem of replicating the things you love that are now too big! I don’t know what people do who gain and lose weight all their lives – they must have clothes in every size. As it is I have two sets of clothes UK12 and UK14 and am gradually selling the 14s on ebay! When I see what you buy I wonder if you have an expanding wardrobe or are doing the same!

I am not selling on ebay as of yet, but do have a pile I’d like to… Just not sure how to do the shipping for Ebay whch is holding me back… since the wieght loss has just been this past year, I have had to replace most everything…I can’t imagine the closets of those who go up and dwon with their weight, either..
.Part of the reason I was hesitating to lose the final ten pounds was loving my jeans and not being able to replace my purple leopard spotted ones and some others…

You had a major score! I have to say that I absolutely love the anchor top. Anything nautical has a special place in my heart since I grew up on the lake and was always around water and boats. Have a wonderful weekend!

Ditto for the native of VA Beach and the daughter of retired Navy. .nautical touches are throughout my home…

These are some great finds! The striped sweater is amazing.

Thank you I love that striped sweater due to the colors and how lightweight it is so it can work for many seasons and layering…
