A Day of Errands and Good Deeds..

Posted on: July 9, 2013

I had so much on my to do list today and opted for a skirt and this embroidered,  whimsical sweater that is one of the few items I wore before the weight gaiining years and held onto.

I was feeling very ansy getting ready to go on my first errand , which was to walk to the bank.  I got ready fast and felt this heavieness to get on the move… I should have know better this feeling is a common thing in my life and always ends up with somethng amazing happening.  I began calling it my angel voice many years ago…

I walk to the bank because it is just such a short jaunt and an excuse to get exercise.  Right before the bank is the grocery store and when walking by it I noticed an elderly gentleman putting his groceries in the car… He seemed very feeble and unsteady on his feet.  I walked past then heard that voice tell me to turn around and noticed he was on the ground.  He couldn’t get up and I went to help him … He was so weak and wasn’t much help…It was much like my mother when she was at her weakest right after heart surgery.  I helped him get into his car and he told me he falls all the time.  He was covered in bruises but this time was relieved to find no wounds.  I wish I had done more than help him to his car.  I feel so sad that he seems to be so on his own in his weakened state.   I went into the grocery store and told a manager what happened and where to retrieve the store’s motorized cart that he had left on the side street… I wonder if that made a difference , they seemed shocked… Maybe they will look out for elderly shoppers…

The best part was my 17 year old son drove by and witnessed his mother’s act of kindness.  That is an example I want to set for my children.  My other good deed was to go to the shoe store where my daughter had returned shoes on Saturday, then come home and found that one shoe was in her room.  The woman in the store was shocked that they had missed it and more shocked that I made the effort to return it.

Dear Readers,  I don’t know if any of you can relate to that feeling I get that always ends up with what I call a miracle moment.  I just know it has been a prevalent part of my life and that I have just come to accept and embrace it as the gift that it is.  I had fun wearing this outfit today and am embracing crossbody bags for the first time in my life.  I had a funny encounter when leaving BJ’s with this woman who looked at me and just smiled and couldn’t stop… I think she got a kick out of my bathing suit embroidered sweater…

Gratitude

I am grateful that I listened to that urging to get out the door… I am grateful that I was at that spot in that moment .

I am grateful to my son for telling me he was proud of me and coming home and telling all his siblings.

I am grateful that this was the start to my week… Mondays can be tough!

I am grateful for the fun conversation I had with my oldest son (26) on fashion and items on his wish list. plus seeing the new moccasins he recently purchased.

I am grateful that later my oldest came to find me ( I was playing in my closet putting together looks for future use) to show me that after dreaming and meditating on the idea he had gone for it an purchased a pair of white jeans.   He had styled them and was proud… I os wish he would let me post pics of him…I love that he takes chances in fashion and is so brave in his mid 20’s!

Like you, I have an ‘angel’ voice that speaks to me, and like you I have learned over the years not to ignore it. That voice saved my brother’s life.

I’d dreamt that he died in a fire. What a weird thing to dream. The next day I told him about it because it had me so spooked.

The next night there was a fire, he was the captain. They were on the roof when it gave way, and two other fire fighters fell into the burning building. Of course his first instinct was to jump in after them. But he remembered my dream and didn’t jump. A good thing; there was no way out and he would have been trapped aong with the first two firefighters.

It was just a fluke that I said anything to him. I was still young then and hadn’t learned to listen when those feelings come over me.

Like you, I’m grateful that I have learned.

Thank you for sharing this amazing story! it truly is a gift for which I am very grateful.
