I missed my Weight Watcher meeting for the second week in a row… this makes me sad, but alas not feeling well trumps any effort to get out and going… sinus pressure and headaches, sore throats in the morning make it tough to face the day… Thank goodness it gets better as the day goes on with the help of medicine and just sitting up rather than laying down…

Regardless, the good news is no weight gain…

Linking up today with What I Wore , so many other bloggers to see…

I managed to get it together enough to go grocery shopping and had lots of fun with my husband accompanying me.

We use to love going shopping together, especailly when we have plenty of time and do it in a leisurley manner…

We were at BJ’s and looked through all the clothes, I tried on two faux leather jackets that I loved and we bought him a jacket

as he really needed one.

Today was a day for brights and a flirty skirt…

Today’s look is from Goodwill and Ebay…

Sweater, belt , purse and shoes all from Goodwill

Ralph Lauren A-line skirt from Ebay.

Dear Readers, Has your weather changed this week?... Our’s finally did, we had a windy day which made it even cooler… it almost felt like time for boots… maybe I’m just anxkous and wanting it to be so…

I am grateful that I felt well enough to have fun shopping with my DH today.

I am grateful that my son brought me hsi paper to edit and that he loved my suggestions and appreciated my insights.

I am grateful that my youngest fianlly seemed to get some relief from his headache.

I am grateful for a break from homeschooling, even if it’s because we are not feeling well.

I am grateful to my husband for taking today’s photos as normally it’s one of my children who does so…

Debuting my new pink and white Oxfords...

get-attachment (16)

I definitely needed some flats besides ballet ones for Fall and Winter so added these oxfords in two colors…

As a woman who embraces feminintiy as one of her style descriptors , pink oxfords with pink laces are a must!

get-attachment (17)

These lighter shades are quite a diference from yestredays brights.  I love the feminintiy of this flowy top and matching it with the striped sweater…Fastest photo shoot to date, as it was a few sprinkles at first then became heavier mist as we were finishing…

Top and Sweater, Thrifted

Blush Jeans, Gloria Vanderbilt

Purse, Marc Bouwer via QVC (last year)

get-attachment (18)

I sure am getting comfortable with pattern mixing… with the snakeskin purse I have three here.

I almost chickened out on the purse, but didn’t see an option I liked better.. After seeing photos, I think it works fine.

get-attachment (16)

Only wore earrings, as I thought with the pattern mixing there was enough going on…

Dear Readers,  I took a day off of homeschooling since Connor and I were both having sinus issues and headaches today… For some reason I have a high tolerance to pain, but really can’t stand that my  youngest was suffering headaches for the first time .   I sure hope tomorrow is a better day after switching up the meds today!

So Dear Readers, what do you think of my daring to go with three prints here???

I am so grateful that my youngest is a pleasant sick guy!

I am grateful to my daughter for helping to clean up today.

I am grateful that rain didn’t ruin my picture session.

I am grateful to my husband for wiorking so hard for our family.

I am grateful that my husband will have a few days off work this week and that we will take advantage of this and have some quality time.

Debuting the first of my new pants I scored from JCP clearance online in preparation for Fall….

Apologies for picture qaulity today.. it was dusk and the flash didn’t work on all shots and the camera battery was dying…

get-attachment (12)

I haven’t worn these sandals as much as I wanted this past season but really love them…

I am looking forward to several ways of styling both these jeans and the new knit grey jacket.

The top, shoes and purse are all thrifted.

get-attachment (13)

This sheer top has colors that are perfect for fall and layering under a jacket.  For winter I might add a tank underneath as well.  Due to the tassels on the front, I kept accessorizing to a minimum with drop earrings and the headband.

get-attachment (15)

Prior to blogging I would have been much more matching ,perhaps with a black jacket to bookend the shoes and the tassel.  I love that I reached for the grey jacket instead.  Adding the purse color to pick up the color in the shirt instead of matching the shoes is also a sign of my growth after one year of blogging!

Dear Readers, I loved the little tease of cooler temperatures this weekend, but will go back up to 80 ‘s all next week.  We are getting cooler temps at night in the 60’s so may do evening shots so i can jump into Fall clothes I am itching to wear!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

These first two weeks of homeschooling were tough and I am hoping in the next two weeks, we hit our stride and get use to the new schedule.  Are you ” in the groove” of Fall schedule if you have children still in school?

I know I am going to miss this crazy time soon when it’s no longer a part of my life…..

I am grateful that my sinus problems seem to be turning around quickly.

I am grateful that my husband and kids had a great time together on his birthday at the company family  picknic.

I am grateful that the kids are all worn out from the day and will get to bed on time tonight.

I am grateful for my husband who noticed my new teal jeans and liked them…

I searched Ebay for skirts… I was looking for swishy skirts that hit right around the knee and would work with boots, sweaters and jackets for Fall.

Chiffon Plaid skirt

This will work really well with my new grey leather jacket, a jean jacket or even pulling out that goldenrod color…. And let’s not forget my navy suede boots…
New York & Co Size 6 Pink Black Chiffon Crepe Crinkled Panel Gored Hem Skirt
Can see pairing this with black, creme , pink and burgundy…
.Next up is a Ponte Knit Pencil skirt…
Liz Claiborne NY Ponte Pencil Skirt Charcoal Pleat Heather S NEW
I have this exact skirt in 3 colors in larger size that I wore before my 42 pound weight loss and have mourned the loss of them… It arrived today and I am so happy to have found a replacement for the grey one…. Wonder if the navy or brown will ever show up on Ebay?  I can always hope…As the scarf lover that I am I couldn’t resist this one
Since snakeskin prints are a trend for Fall/Winter  I opted for the larger neutral colored one.  I perfer animal prints closer to nature and have never like the colored versions of them…

Coming from Hong Kong, so haven’t arrived , yet…
  • Bohemian Women Lady Vintage Retro Voile Soft Silk Scarf Large Beach Shawl New

One last Pair of pants from JCP,  as I now have purchased  nine pairs on clearance in the last few months…

Joe Fresh™ Houndstooth Corduroy Pants

On clearance and still available for $20.99

These are on their way to me and should be here soon…

Dear Readers, I have really been getting ready for Fall and have done a great job for great prices between , Ebay, JCP clearance and thrifting.

Now if only the weather would change instead of these hot humid days….

Going to cool off the shopping for right now, and concentrate on a few statement necklaces in the near future…

Any favorites here?

What have you purchased lately for Fall and what is still left on your wish list?

Have  a Wonderful Weekend and thanks for Stopping By!

Week three of my new blog feature asking questions from Chat Pack, a set of questions I found at the craft store

Today’s Question:

If you could be the spokesperson for any product on the market,

What product would you choose to enthusiastically represent?

My Answer:

Katie Byron’s book detailing The Work

I mentioned this once before a while ago on my blog, but couldn’t help repeating it as I really see the value in it.

Her work challenges us to pay close attention to those little voices in our heads and to ask ourselves four questions to check our thinking that can make us unhappy and behave in ways we wouldn’t normally do if we didn’t believe that original false thought.

People who do The Work as an ongoing practice commonly report:

  • Alleviation of depression: Find resolution, even happiness, in situations that were once debilitating.
  • Decreased stress: Learn how to live with less anxiety or fear.
  • Improved relationships: Experience deeper connection and intimacy with your partner, your parents, your children, your friends, and yourself.
  • Reduced anger: Understand what makes you angry and resentful, and become less reactive, less often, with less intensity.
  • Increased mental clarity: Live and work more intelligently and effectively, with integrity.
  • More energy: Experience a new sense of ongoing vigor and well-being.
  • More peace: Discover how to become “a lover of what is.”

What I love about Bryon Katie is that she gives enough information on her site Here, that you can begin the process without purchasing anything.

Dear Readers, this means so much to me because I have witnessed people I love who have a stranglehold on themselves due to thoughts that destroy their lives and cause them much pain.  My answer to this question is a bit deep…. much like me.

Please, Please my Dear Readers, do not feel pressure to endorse a product of such magnitude… Be as light and carefree about is as suits your personality… Is there a skin care prodcut you love,  a book you’ve read, a shampoo,  a pair of shoes that are to die for comfortable, an album that makes you dance, a product that makes your life easier.  The possibilities are endless, there are no right or wrong answers,  Trust your gut , you never know what reaching out and responding to this question will do for another person.

Join in and make this conversation one of a variety!

Thank You so Much for your Participation!

I am grateful for the inspiration to start this blog feature

I am grateful for those who have particpated or  read my responses to the questions.

I am grateful for the upcoming weekend and surviving another homeschool week.

I am grateful to those of you who are inspired to comment and make this conversation fun!

Today, I homeschooled walked to the church for an appointment and walked to the grocery

store to pick up a few things.

get-attachment (9)

I love when the camera captures a wind swept look!

I began this outfit with thrifted skirt that I haven’t worn yet…

I saw my purple necklace and decided to go that direction and viola!

I have been feeling uninspired to continue summer looks , but our tempperature today was near 90.

get-attachment (10)

I didn’t take a purse with me on my walks, so opted not to fake it and choose one for photos…

I am so lucky to live where I can walk just 10 to 15  minutes to so many things like church, grocery store, drug store, home improvement store, dollar store, craft store, Burlington Coat Factory, etc…

get-attachment (11)

I love this necklace so much I bought it in green as well and they both really have gotten a lot of use.. I purchased them from Burlgington Coat Factory which has really great priced jewelry…

Dear Readers,  Today(Weds) felt like hump day.  Can’t get that camel commercial out of my head, now… “Mike, Mike, Mike, what day is it?”

I am really tired from homeschooling and getting back into the swing of things.  i have to say my guy is such a trooper and is really working hard,  i think he is loving the challenge and being in high school classes.  We are still tweaking the schdule and will probably continue to do so for the next few weeks until we settle in to the perfect one… I love that about homeschooling, that we can always make adjustments to meet the needs of our moods, sleep patterns and unexpected happenings.

Is mid week hard on you with summer being over and things changing?

I am grateful for the support of  a dear friend.

I am grateful that I am a strong, powerful woman

I am grateful to my mother for setting the example of taking care of herself and putting herself on the list.

I am grateful to my Dear Readers who have joined me on this blogging journey as I celebrate one year of blogging!

I am grateful to all those who comment and brighten my day.

I am grateful to my homeschoolign son for the amazing effort he puts forth!

Our temps may be in the 80 and humid, but I am in AC and running errands with the same so decided to just go for it and embrace Monday my way!

get-attachment (7)

I haven’t worn these red checked pants much and decided they neede to come out to play.  I was just being a Mom on the Go today, so opted for my Aerosoles ballet flats in red floral. I wasn’t sure about the pattern mixing with the striped jacket at first, but think it turned out fine.

If you had told me, I ‘d be sporting 3 patterns in one outfit a year ago, I might have laughed…

get-attachment (6)

The only thrifted item I  have today is the incredible red purse that I searced months for and was just about to give up and try to find retail…

So glad I was patient because for $4 I can own more purses…

get-attachment (8)

If you look closely, you can see my  checked jeans… I love this necklace that has a shorter chain with a crystal then drops longer into multiple crystals  with little black ones and a larger clear one.  This necklace was part of a wholesale lot I purchased on Ebay last year.

Dear Readers, Thank you so much for all the wonderful birthday wishes, it meant a lot to me.  i hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I had a great one, but was sad to see an ambulance next door picking up my neighbor for the second time in two weeks.  He is ok, but having seizures and can’t be left alone.  Such a difficult thing for a gardner wife who flits about and is so busy.  Saying prayers that they can stabilze the seizures with medication and give the entire family some peace.  I never take health for granted after watching my father pass away so quickly when I was just 13.  So dear readers, just wanted to share this thought with you,

Go Hug your loved ones and tell them how much you value them!  We get busy sometimes and just need that reminder…

I am grateful for wonderful friends in the real and online world who took time to wish me a Happy Birthday!

I am grateful to my family for giiving me a wonderful day !

I am grateful for the break down in homeschooling today that lead to a breakthrough!  So glad it happened early and meant we got the lesson learned at the beginning of the school year.

I am grateful for being a homeschooling mother and starting our day off with Yoga stretches.

I am grateful that I stuck to my guns and made him finish his homeschooling goals for the day, even though it took up too much of my day.

I am grateful to my daughter for being supportive in homeschooling my youngest today… She loves education and was a real help when I needed to take a breather. (go to the grocery store…)

Today, is my 48th Birthday and one year since this blog started to become a reality.  I hadn’t posted yet, but had picked out the name and the domain.  I’ve learned so much in this past year and gained a confidence I can’t even begin to describe.  I remember feeling so awkward taking those first photos and having trouble smiling.  In public places when people would look,at me I would visibly shrink…

Linking Up today with Visible Monday!

Now, I take photos and people stare and I just laugh and get on with it…  I’ve discovered poses that I like and the process takes just 5 minutes or less.  Posing today in the three pieces I purchased for my birthday.  All from Metrostyle , leather jacket    ,  dress and shoes

I wanted nothing more to do on my birthday than to watch the first game of the season for my Steelers!   They lost but I still love the game of football and appreciate the time spent having fun.

As for my outfit… I love each piece and know that they will all be so versatile in my wardrobe.  I love the swing , volume and colors of the dress that allows for a lot of versatility for toppers.  I will never wear the green jacket without channeling memories of my father as this was his favorite color.  Nothing feels better than colored pumps for the Mom who only had neutrals and didn’t invest much in her own clothing as she was giving so much to her children.

I ‘ve been missing my mother so much this past week.  My entire adult life she would call me at 10:04 am , the time I was born to wish me a Happy Birthday!  When she became sick I knew this would be coming to an end and I appreciated it even more those last four years.  Wiping tears now….

Dear Readers, I began a new Feature on my blog last Saturday called BE a Part of the Conversation and think perhaps I should switch it to another day, so would love it if you would check out the links here and here  and join in the fun of answering the question for yourself in the comments.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!   Looking forward to week two of homeschooling Connor!

I am grateful for the memories of my parents that birthdays evoke!

I am grateful for the strength my parents love provides.

I am grateful to my chidlren for cleaning up their game room for my birthday.

I am grateful for relaxed time with my family today..

I am grateful for my 48 years and the growth I’ve managed in that time. (My father died when he was just 42, so to me anything after that is a super bonus!)

Week two of my new blog feature for Saturdays,  where I pose a question from the CHAT PACK I found at the craft store…

Today’s Question

Aside from any family occurence (marriage, anniversary, birth of a child, etc) ,

What event or accomplishment would you consider to be the highlight of your life thus far?

My Response

I took this question to mean what accomplishment am I the most proud of and really struggled to narrow it down to just one.

I hope you bear with me while I explain Three that have really been life altering…

The first would have to be helping my son overcome anxiety and OCD symptoms that began when he was 12 after he had been sick and was dehydrated which caused low blood pressure so every time he stood up he felt dizzy and panicked,  This transferrred to overwashing his hands and full blown panic attacks.  I was hypervigilant about watching him and talking him through it and it never set in. Now 5 years later he is my most confident and has the least anxiety of my children… In fact he is the only one who could have a future as an eye surgeon as he has nerves of steel!

The second would have to be delivering my mother’s eulogy after I was discouraged by well meaning friends, family and even the Priest at the church who didn’t think I could do it without falling apart.  I held up beautifully and only shed a tear after leaving the pulpit and kissing my hand and laying it on her caskett.  I didn’t just deliver that eulogy, I was so strong, confident and animated as it was my final gift to Mom and I nailed it! I had my husband on standby to rescue me if I fell apart and was so relieved that I did it !

The third would have to be choosing to homeschool my youngest and taking him from a child who couldn’t read and was told he had a learning disability to a child who now declares, “They had a teaching disability!”  He is reading nightly without my having to beg or threaten, something I could never imagine. We still have a ways to go but each year it is increasing in leaps and bounds and now on year three I feel so confident that he will indeed make it to college and be able to choose a future that matches his intelligence… something that I couldn’t see before with what was happening at school.  The reason that I am so proud of this is that I was terrified, but knew I had to try and my husband was worried as well. Thank God he supported my trying!

Dear Readers, It’s your turn to BE PART of The CONVERSATION!

I look forward to reading your comments and hope you will come back and read the comments from anyone inclined to share!
