Third Completer Pieces- Part 3

Posted on: March 3, 2014

Dear Readers, I recently answered  the question, ” Is there one class of item that defines your style?”, with “Third Completer Pieces”

and showed Jackets and Blazers and Cardigans...

Today, I coninue with a completer piece that is newer to my style,

VESTS

I actually didn’t wear vests before I began blogging, but had been wanting a faux fur one and that was the first reward I provided myself on my weight loss journey…

Adding a faux fur vest to a shirt dress, is perfect for Fall, I found this reverisible vest at BJ’s.

A quilted purple one with embroidery found at Goodwill… This is lighter than a puffer vest and doesn’t add the same volume…

Goodwill has provided the majority of  my vest collection, as with this creme fuzzy one I wore for Spring.

Another Goodwill Find is the DKNY fun quilted pattern…

Forever 21 Moto in Creme to finish off this Spring look…

The olive Utility vest is a very common modern one among the bloging world and ultra versatile, mine is a Vera Wang from Kohl’s.

This red one is also a utlility style with pockets that again I happened upon at Goodwill.

This creme moto version is the same as above,  Forever 21, I wanted a moto version and loved the creme for a happy medium between the edgy yet feminine style that suits me best… Black in faux leather just didn’t feel right…

I searched hi and low for the right jean vest to add and found it at Cato when shopping with my daughter… I loved adding it to dresses for summer…

I love how this one again found at Goodwill adds so much interest with it’s texture among a very neurtal outfit and adds a boho feel to basics…

Dear Readers, Vests really are a wonderful Third Completer piece and are a great thing to find at thrift stores. I have bought so many puffer vests for just $4.99 rather than the more than $30 or more they cost retail and given them to my boho friend and my neice.  They are not something I liked on me when I was overweight, but I love them now.  I also really like lighter vests for Summer to throw over a dress or tank top for a more finished look.  I will continue to puruse Goodwill looking for more to add for Summer…

I hope you don’t mind this continuation of the Third Completer piece series as it has a been a life saver while I am fighting off a very nasty sinus infection that went to an inner ear infection and resulted in Vertigo.   The Vertigo is much better as is the fever, but this infection is really knocking the wind out of my sails… While I tend to get sinsu problems with big swings in our weather , I am not prone to full on sinus infections…. With temps at 60 degrees for Sunday and Snow expected with temps in the 20’s on Monday…. this may prolong my recovery…. so hanging in there and posting what I can….

Hope you feel better soon! My husband went through the inner ear/vertigo experience this past fall, and
I know how badly he felt!

Never have been confident with vests as I’m not “busty” and feel like they don’t hang on me right. I do wear the lacy, crocheted type as they seem to fit better and not add bulk in the waist area. I like your utility vests and the lacy one, especially!

I getting on the vest kick myself. However, it’s hard for me to find vests that fit me since I am small and narrow through the shoulders. I just found a pink one at Goodwill this weekend-Tommy Hilfiger for $3.99. Is it OK to wear the puffy vests as part of your outfit or should the puffy ones be used for outerwear?

I wear the puffy ones as both outerwear and part of my outfit with a coat over it. Luckily, my coat has enough room for that. You’ve gotta love that $3.99 price point…..

Thanks! I never know how to wear those puffy vests. I see people wearing them only as coats. I wore my white puffy vest to school today as part of my outfit and wore my winter coat over it since we have single digit temps. I forgot to tell you in my earlier reply that I like all of your vests, so cute!

This is my first visit to your blog, but I already love this series. Seeing the various ways that you style your vests gave me serious outfit inspiration, and I can definitely see how vests serve an integral part of your wardrobe.
