I just can’t get enough of my two pairs of printed jogger pants!

It seriously feels like cheating!

IMG_0885

Like wearing pj’s and getting away with still being fashionable…

Not like the bad picture you get of those who wear PJ bottoms and go to Walmart…

LOL, sorry couldn’t help myself…

IMG_0887

Don’t ask me what it is about this top and this necklace, but I keep pairing them together…

IMG_0889

I hadn’t embraced pattern mixing with these pants , yet, so just had to go with stripes today..

This is my bowling shoes tote bag, from Just Fab… They are having a fabulous buy one get one free sale…

Dear Readers, i am proud to say I am doing a good job of keeping busy and socializing my way out of thedepression after a several  days of severe symptoms… I think part of this could be that I have had two months now of no menstrual cycle, so that may be part of this…

Gratitude

I am grateful for our homeschooling bowling days, we have such fun laughing and playing.. I love this time with my boys and am dearly going to miss my Nicholas who is leaving in just two weeks…

I am grateful for the teamwork taking place to reaarrange and declutter, something that has been neglected with my homeschooling duties these past three years…

I am grateful for my oldest and his openess and the chance for us all to talk and lift him up…

I am grateful for all my life experiences, both the good and the bad, that help me be a better mother!

I am grateful for the compassion I see in my children towards each other.

I am grateful to my readers, who graced me with their kind words and wisdom…

Well, the  Good News is that despite my recent weight gain…

My white jeans still fit!

IMG_0871

And that’s saying something since they are the smallest size I own…

These are my thrifted Cabi’s that fit my curves like no other jean I’ve ever tried …

IMG_0875

My plan to get out with friends this week began with a bang!

I had a wonderful day with a my thrifting buddy and I got to share in the good news,

that after a long wait and fighting off an infection

She is having her cataract surgey on Monday!

IMG_0879

My thrifting trip was suppose to be to look for a coffee table for my oldest son…

No luck there, but I found perfect swivel chairs to put in front of my fireplace….

They can be used for conversation and in winter months the kids love roasting marshmellows and can turn them around!

Dear Readers, since I got new chairs today was especially successful in pushing away the depression which had started to dig it’s claws in…I came home and did some rearanging , hung pictures on the wall, that I’ve been neglecting to do.. And if that isn’t enough, continued with my decluttering efforts and have a good amount to take to Goodwill tomorrow after my homeschool bowling.  That means tomorrow will be full of activity too, so should help with the depression as well!

Gratitude

I am grateful to my dear friend for hanging out with me today!

I am grateful for the funny guy at the Salvation Army who was loading the chairs and playfully told me to back off and let him do it, twice when I tried to help… (he made me laugh at his cute antics)

I am grateful to my dear friend for asking for a discount for buying them both and it worked, they gave 25% off…

I am grateful that my daughter and son sat in the new chairs and we had a fun conversation…

I am grateful that my son slept in super late and was rearing to help the decluttering.

I am grateful my husband is having a sale a day since going back into it full time and pray this trend continues.

On a Hot Summer Day, Nothing beats Linen..

IMG_0850

Unfortunately with Linen comes Wrinkles,

but I don’t care!

IMG_0861

A headband comes in handy for humid days when hair is out of control

With my love of boho looks, a head band and this thrifted vest are just the right touches…

IMG_0859

With my broken toe healed, I now get to embrace my wedges…

Chadwicks is where I’ve found a lot of linen items , Look Here for Current Offerings.

Dear Readers, I am having a tough time and quite frankly trying to avoid going into a depression. I know the tools to use  to prevent this, but am finding a hard time reaching for them… I did do yoga before bedtime and had a better quality of sleep last night.  I also know getting out with friends is big , so am making plans for this week..  I believe very much in the “fake it til you make it philosophy.”   I know I can beat this, but it’s not easy…I’ve let myself have one terrible time of depression and vowed never to go back there again…

Do any of you ever suffer depression, recognize it right away  and suceed in figthing it back?

Gratitude

I am grateful for a good night’s rest

I am grateful for a fun conversation with my daughter about how bored we are with Summer clothes and how we are looking forward to Fall!

I am grateful for my strong faith!

I am grateful my mother gave me a small freezer years ago that we’ve put away in the garage, and now needed because our 2nd refrigerator broke… Feels like Mom is still taking care of me..

So many times I’ve Questioned the term,

“Boho Chic”

Wondering what exactly it means…

Linking up with Visible Monday

IMG_0845

Upon Seeing this photo, I instantly thought,

“Now that’s Boho Chic”

For me interpretation it’s about the beading on the purple tank, the printed long skirt with the rope belt detail and of course the faux leather blush colored backpack sure feels more chic than say, a canvas one….

IMG_0836

I actually love the fun of the purple and pink in this….

IMG_0840

I’ve had the tank top for a few years and barely worn it…

Now I am wondering why?

Dear Readers,

TRENDING FOR FALL

Is both the color Pink and Backpack purses…

Here are some from Just Fab where I got mine, Mine is like the black one called Magnetic

Here is what Target has to offer

Here are a few from Forever 21

Gratitude

I am grateful for wonderful conversations with my sister-in-law.

I am grateful for my husband’s success this week.

I am grateful for sleeping in after getting up early for my niece this past week..

I am grateful to my son for running to the grocery store for milk for me this morning.

I am grateful to my friend for reaching out to me in her time of need

I am grateful for a peaceful lazy day.

What’s the easiest way to get gussied up after housecleaning?

Throw on a maxi,a vest and a fedora…

IMG_0817

I worked late in the afternoon doing two days of our schedule of decluttering because we were to tired after bowling to get started on what should have been our first day…I then, had to run to BJ’s for grocery shopping… I loved the excuse to get cleaned up and dressed up…It trully is my way of balancing my life as a stay at home mother and of still caring for myself and being me..

IMG_0822

I thrifted this fabulous polk-a dot maxi and did you notice my hand,,,

Yep, this little number has pockets!!!!!

I’ve never seen a maxi with pockets, have you????

IMG_0829

This maxi is the longest one I own, but I still was able to walk

and get my groceries without it being in the way or having to lift it at all..

I am loving my jean vest and fedora this sseason and can’t seem to get enough of them…

Dear Readers,  my reason for decluttering right now is to take advantage of doinng so when I can get the help of my kids before they head off.. That’s not the only reason… My oldest will be coming back home for the 3weeks we are in Ireland to stay with my youngest and our dog, rabbit and turtles… He will be bringing his bird and tucking everything away will allow the bird to have a room to fly free and land on top of furniure pieces without anythng for him to get into…

Gratitude

I am grateful for getting back on track with our decluttering schedule, even though it was a tiring day..

I am grateful for the help of my niece, daughter, and two sons… Having several people running to put things away is incredible..

I am grateful that I planned an easy, no-cooking necessary dinner of  salad with precooked chicken .

I am grateful to my niece for taking my blog photos today and yesterday.

I am grateful that I gave my niece my chambray shirt I’ll get another one soon) as she’s been wanting one and will get a lot of use out of it..

i am grateful for the fun my niece had today, starting a styling notebook, gluing magazine photos and others I printed from the computer..

I am grateful for the time I have with my neice over the summer every other week!

Dear Readers, Sorry I’ve missed a few days of blogging…

A change in my husband’s job sent me for a tailspin…

However, I believe in Divine Order and can see that at work as usual…

IMG_0803

The bowling Alley is chilly from frigid AC, so I usually bring a sweater…

This is just a simple knit t-shirt style top I found at Burlington .

I love the muted colors here…

Did the faux tuck again to show off the belt and the touches of browns…

IMG_0809

My fly aways drive me nuts, but it was a quck styling to get out the door.

Good news that we are making progress and have a meeting planned with teen homeschooling parents and children coming up in a few weeks to create support for going through high school and socialization ideas for the kids…

IMG_0815

Decided to take of the sweater…

Dear Readers,,, I am going to be so busy these next few weeks getting my house totally uncluttered and reorganized , before my kids leave for college and stick it all with me to do… We’ve written out a daily plan and so far missed the first day.. Not to worry as each day is not packed full and I can double up… Today is cleaning off the Armoire desk  and the craft stuff the kids have on the hearth..

Gratitude

I am grateful for my daughter’s help in making a list to make the task  of decluttering very manageable.

I am grateful that everyone is agreeing to pitch in..

I am grateful that my husband’s job change actually has benefits for our family, despite the feeling of chaos from a toxic personality..

I am grateful that my husband works so hard for us and is sucessful at whatever he does…

I am grateful for these last weeks with my two adult children heading off to colleg…

I am grateful that my oldest still comes by to visit after moving out…

I am grateful for my dear friends and wish I had more time to fit them in right now!

Friday My husband and I attended the funeral of a previous co-worker of his…

When someone in their fifties dies without warning,

It makes us all stop and think of how it really can happen anytime…

IMG_0781

This is what I wore…..

I actually felt very weird photographing this oufit before the funeral…

IMG_0785

It doesn’t show up well here, but the top is pleated around the neckline and belted….

My Ying/Yang necklace feels like an appropriate symbol for a funeral…

My Bj’s still carries this necklace if anyone wants to check their own…

IMG_0782

I am glad I opted for flats as we went out to a bar at the beach and I did a lot of standing….

Dear Readers,

My husband and I always remark after funerals about how seeing everyone is always a wonderful part of the process, but a shame that we don’t do get togethers more often…

Many years ago, my husband lost his grandfather, uncle and grandmother within a short time frame…. He hated the idea of leaving anything unsaid and responded by writing a beautiful letter to his Uncle, his Godfather, a man who’d been such a big part of his life to tell him how much he’s meant to him…

And wouldn’t you know it… his uncle called the morning of the funeral and Tom mentioned that shame of get togethers when someone passes and his uncle declared,”Well NOT THIS TIME!”  He placed that call specifically to tell us that this trip to Ireland in October truly is the trip of a lifetime and he wants us to extend it from two weeks to three weeks…

I am speechless and overwhelmend, An entire three weeks with my husband not working… In Ireland!!!!!  My husband and I have talked for 20 years about wanting to go to Ireland with his uncle, as we wanted to see it through his eyes, as he truly loves it… With him aging, we were afraid this might never happen…..

I ddin’t know about this little twist in our plans until we were driving home that night…. What’s better after saying goodbye to someone whose passed to young, seeing old friends and laughing, sharing memories and having a few drinks, than to look foreward to something so extraordinary….

I finally completed the year end testing and mailed it in and am keeping my fingers crossed they get the results back to me quckly to make the August 1st deadline to send to my School Board…

After doing so I can’t help, but thinking what a wonderful year of discovery this has been in learning more about my son and his individual needs as a learner…

This completes my week of Orange Crush …

IMG_0767

It has always bugged me that before going to school this young man was a sponge, always learning and spouting off to us all that he learned, but the longer he was in school the more this had disappeared.

He was never a child that was interested in cartoons or ones geared towards prechoolers , he sought ones that gave him knowledge. He would get up earlier than the rest of us just to have command of the tv.

One show in particular that I remember  was” Crashbox“, and then of course two channels he couldn’t get enough of  :  Discovery and Animal Planet… He also continues to love the ” How it’ s Made ” series and “Myth Busters”

The change in him was very scary as a mother because it was so fast and so drastic… A few things in school sparked him-  like learning about the Egyptians and the phases of the moon… but more and more he seemed to lose the desire and his conversations became less and less about these facts he had  always  been so proud to share…

I bought him an Iphone for his birthday in April and who knew that would be the catylst for getting my son back! He is using YouTube and signing up to channels that interest him and feed him with lots of interesting facts in the news regarding science..

IMG_0774

I could litterally cry and shout for joy all at once, as I am so overwhelmed with emotions… I thought school had ruined this wonderful child and that his love of learning was lost forever…   The tears are flowing as I type this… The love of a mother is so deep , so all knowing and we truly see our children in a way that noone else can.. I know my mother did that for me!

Now that I’ve shared my Joy-Time to move  on to the things I learned about how our homeschooling was working for him and how to move forward in a better way for the specific needs of this individual child… I love that I am blessed to be directing this and tailor make his education!

Such a wonderful twist for a mother who chose to homeschool because she was forced to when the school couldn’t get the job done… It’s no longer, “I have to do this for him” , but, ” I am blessed to have this choice! ”

 A huge distinction!

IMG_0769

For the past 3 years we have used Time 4 Learning and I liked that it was easy for me to just be a guide and I learned a lot right along with him…I also saw what my other children were telling me that their programs were more advanced than public schools.  A perfect thing for my very bright child… I also liked that we were able to even chose a year above or below if we so wanted… We started high school this year, a year early and that was a good decision…

Now for the problem… This is based very much on Common Core and a year long program that seemed to drag on and on in lessons. My son started off each year enthusistically  and really gung-ho… by January he was bored and frustrated and it was a fight to keep him motivated…

After exploring choices for what program to chose for homeschooling through high school.  I am happy that Ihave found the perfect program called Universal Class...I think that he is super excited about being able to finish a class in one semester and move onto all new classes in January…. He actually told me I got this right and seems amazed that I figured this out and found a solution…

He is excited about the number of choices for classes and even said he has to get reading and setting goals for a hundred pages a day… Of course that is what his college graduate sister keeps telling him is ahead of him… I think if he sees that he can move quickly through these courses that he will do so… The fact that he said he wanted to reach 100 pages a day is huge as he resists reading  unless I force the issue… Although he was very proud of himself for reading books his brother read at this age in his Advanced English class and seeing he really had fixed what that dumb school had labeled as a disability… That success really boosted his confidence and I am so glad I insisted on him taking that on..

After dreading homeschooling him through high school andthe upcoming fight I thought I was going to have, I feel very encouraged by his enthusiasm and his looking at me like I finally got him… I feel like I’ve won the lottery!!!!! I truly feel like a super hero to my child.. hmmm… what would my costume look like???

Dear Readers, If you read all of this Thank you for letting me share my journey and my joy of this most important part of my life.

I think a huge turning point for me was recently when I saw a Facebook post on Affording the Homeschool Life  where someone used the term Autodidact to describe an individual driven to self learn – that it really hit me what was going on with my son and what he needed.. I can see why some homeschooling mothers are drawn to unschooling whereas before that made no sense to me for a mother trying to get her child ready for college.. I however have no intention of going the unschooling route for  high school , perhaps for a younger child…

Gratitude

I am grateful for dear friends who support me!

I am grateful for my husband’s support in homeschooling, as I hear that so many fathers are against it…

I am grateful for a movie night to escape reality and a tough situatin with my husbands job…

I am grateful that my electric bill didn’t go sky high with all the AC we’ve been using..

I am grateful the great sleep I got last night, the sleep app said I got 100% sleep quality…

There are many shades of Orange,

Today I chose to go with Coral for my day of bowling…

IMG_0754

A great casual look for my fun day of bowling….

My Just Fab tote has my bowling shoes in it…

Can’t believe I just typed that… I have my own bowling shoes…

Such a funny turn of events…

All due to homeschooling my youngest….

IMG_0761

I love this top by St. John’s Bay that I’ve had for many years and never tire of..

In fact I have a navy blue version as well.

This top has an elastic neckline which make it perfect for an off the shoulder look .

I am not much for faux tucking, but think it works here..

IMG_0758

I had a lot of fun bowling today and really love that the manager now knows me and we are working together to find other homeschool kids to try to form some leagues for the the Fall…

Next week we many go two days, which you won’t hear me complain about..

It’s fun time with my 18 year old  and 14 year old sons…

I can’t believe that a month from today, I will be moving my Nicholas into his dorm…I am so not ready to have just one child home….

Dear Readers what kind of fun activities do you enjoy doing with your family???

I love your comments and appreciate you taking time out of your day to visit my blog!

Gratitude

I am grateful for the comraderie of another homeschooling mom on bowling days…

I am grateful for the laughter between me and my guys…

I am grateful my niece had a wonderful turn out for her memorial service for her dogs.

I am grateful my two youngest went with me to the memorial service.

I am grateful that God blessed me with amazing children and that we are in a stage of life of seeing the pay off of our hard work as three are now adults and making wonderful decisions in their lives…

I came up with this title to make reference to the print of my top,

however after seeing this outfit, I think perhaps it is more appropriate as

a reference for me to get rid of this skirt…  or save it for wearing with tights…

IMG_0732

It’s been four weeks since I broke my toe and I am daring to wear wedges for the first time !

It actually felt wonderful to not have to wear flats…

IMG_0743

I love an off the shoulder top…

My 14 year old photographer however did not like seeing his mother this way..

IMG_0735

I am really motivated to get back to the self tannerf!

Top, skirt and purse are all thrifted from Goodwill…

I like the nautical vibe with the mix of the anchor print top and the striped bag..

Dear Readers, I love the shape and color of this skirt and noticed it has a five inch hem,

so taking a seam ripper and trying to salvage it tonight… Wish me luck..

Gratitude

I am grateful that I got my photos done early today, as terrible rain and thunderstorms rolled in during my normal time slot..

I am grateful that I slept in today, since my migraine kept me up late last night..

I am grateful that today I seem to have broken the three day saga of migraines…

I am grateful for making plans with my friend for Thursday night.

I am grateful  my husband is handling chaos at work with wisdom and grace.
