If one Peplum is Good, Two has to Be Better!

Posted on: July 1, 2014

If I am really being honest I actually now have 3 Peplums all from Forever 21!

Yes, that’s right I came into the peplum trend a little late, but now I am here!

Every time I’ve worn these pants I get compliments…

Today it came in the form of a new neighbor -teen girls who were walking from the grocery store as I was making my way towards it…

I smiled and nodded my head at them and one of them, yelled with such enthusiasm, ” I really like your pants!”

I don’t think there is higher praise than for someone in that age group to compliment me…

It’s happened a few times , mostly with my boho skirts, but each time I get a big kick out of it!

Then that nagging feeling that perhaps my shopping at F21 is too young for me…, which I quickly disregard because it’s a voice I refuse to hear as I don’t try to dress youthful, I just try to dress feminine, sassy and fun!

I also trust my almost 23 year old daughter and my 18 year old son, who reassure me it’s not an issue , that they like my style.

I love Navy and white for Summer!

I added the knitted shrug , as a sleeveless top in cold AC doesn’t work for me, for some reason just covering my shoulders helps tremendously… I found this navy one on a thrifting score, as I have many that I own…

The necklace is from Burlington Coat Factory and if you are a regular follower of my blog, I’ve mentioned before their great jewelry selection at very reasonable prices…I think this necklace was about $12.99.

I also added an bracelet to my arm along with my watch… I usually just wear a watch alone, but had seen this done in a magazine and decided to give it a try…I think that because it’s elastic and stayed on my arem instead of being looseer, worked well for this…

I am so glad I bought this white Nine West handbag last year , as it is really getting a lot of use this season…

So are these wonderful Payless sandals , which have been invaluable with my broken toe..

Speaking of my poor little broken toe….I think I made a big mistake of not having it taped for the first time yesterday when I was in the kitchen on my feet all day yesterday, cause it was painful today.. In fact I removed these sandals and put on a pair of Birkentstocks for better support around the house… I really have to stop taking this broken toe so lightly and take better care of myself…

Here was my first venture with a peplum…

I got this one in my regular size from F21 of medium tops , but sized up on the white and black one I bought after seeing this..

I may see if my daughter wants to try this one since colbalt is a favorite color of hers and her chest is  a few inches smaller than mine…

I think a peplum and pattened pants is a great outfit formula…

Now to explore other ways to wear a Peplum!

Gratitude

I am grateful that switching to my Birkenstocks felt better on my broken toe…

I am grateful that my son’s unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher , as doing this daily sometimes gets me in a fowl mood…

I am grateful for the creativity of my children and watching how individually they express it.

I am grateful that we began homeschool testing today and he was cooperative and in a good mood…

I am grateful that we have plans to go bowling midweek in the midst of year end testing…

I shop at Forever 21 all the time! There are many age-appropriate options for 40+ women – and I get a ton of compliments from teenagers and young women. Peplums are perfect for you, and I love, love, love the navy with white!

Thank you! I agree and see women of my age group in there every time I go in… I do confess shopping online there a lot more than going in…. Isn’t it fun to get compliments from the younger generation! I always looked up to fashionable older women so hope I am that for them!

oops forgot congratulations are in order as I saw that you won a new anti aging device!

I love navy and white! I think I’m obsessed because I went shopping yesterday and that’s all I was attracted to. I didn’t buy anything so I’m good! 🙂 I can never find anything at F21. I see all these cute things from there on blogs but I can’t find them in the stores.

Now that I know my sizing I do engage in shopping online at F21 and have not had as much luck in the stores… There really is something crisp and classic about navy and white isn’t there?

You look cute in the navy and white outfit! Do take care of your toe until it’s healed. Birkenstocks were invaluable to me when I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis over 11 years ago. I don’t think I could have kept teaching were it not for those shoes. I still wear Birks almost exclusively -sandals, Mary Janes, and others, some ordered from an online company in Germany. With them, I have no pain. Wearing anything else, I have problems if I wear them very long. It can be challenging being limited in footwear, but it’s wonderful to stay active and not have pain.

I learned my lesson and am taking great care! The limited footwear is a small price to pay. How lucky for me that it’s a big trend!

Tracey, I LOVE the outfit with white peplum from head to toe. Literally. Your hair looks so great here…something about it looks a little more…sexy. 🙂 I really like the color combo, the necklace, and the added shrug too. I have always had an aversion to peplum, but you’re going to end up talking me right into it. ha

Lisa, that’s wonderful! I too had an aversion to peplums, but I am glad I tried it! I thought the same thing about my hair here! Thanks so much for your wonderful words of encouragement! You made my morning start off right after not sleeping well!!!
