Peplums and Florals

Posted on: June 4, 2015

I really am having fun with purging my closet and going through my clothes to find what bloggers refer to as closet orphans.  They are those things that you love, but just haven’t worn much for some reason or another.

This jacket falls into that category

Nighttime Photos after Parent’s Night Out

This jacket is linen by Emma James, A Liz Claiborne Company, which I thrifted.

It’s been neglected in my closet as I’ve probably thought of it as a more dressy piece and was saving it for a special occasion.  I am done with that nonsense.  I love it and I am going to wear it instead of saving it.

I sometimes get really stuck in my head over how a non-working outside the home mother, should dress as, I love dressing  nicer than most in that category and had backed off some of my favorites.  Blazers in particular took a back seat this winter , but I hope to get out of my own way and wear what I love regardless of the box I think I should be in.

Silly me, also use to reserve the sapphire necklace for special occasions too.

What in the world have I been thinking?

Perhaps I am caught in the struggle of the generations before me who only used the good china for holidays!

I think this countdown to my 50th birthday in September is responsible for this new me and I love it!

Another thing I am really into right now is Peplum tops,

I love the extra feminine touch to outfits, this one is from Jane.com but check out these from

Issaac Mizrahi , they look to be a little longer and I ordered a few of these to try.

My pants are Pixie’s by Old Navy and shoes a few years old from Payless

My apologies for the smudges on the picture from my phone, I have yet to find my camera since my house was torn apart and rearranged due to the bedroom redo…

Gratitude

I am grateful for a wonderful Parent’s Night Out and am so appreciative of this fabulous group of women!

I am grateful that my husband’s first words when I came home was, ” You look nice, I really like this!”, as he touched my jacket.

I am grateful that my oldest came by today and all four of my children hung out tonight while I was out.                                                                                                   I am grateful that when I left for my night out that, all four of my children were hanging out in my new king size bed.  I want them to all be close.

I am grateful that my new bedspread arrived, now I just have to get the curtains installed and fix the holes in the wall from the electrical problem we had a hard time finding!

Pretty! Yes, wear the things that bring you joy!

Thanks Suzanne! I am trying to do a better job of that!
