Last Night the GYPO Summer Style Challenge Facebook page

had a lot of fun making up Haiku’s about the challenge.

I wrote four ,but decided to wear a Kimono today to honor you with just one..

Kimono Haiku

Boho Kimono

Flowy, Feminine,Flirty

A Past Life Hippy?

I’ve had this one from Steinmart for quite a few years and never tire of it.

I am wearing my new Diane Gilman Cuffed Capris

and I just had to buy another color Clark’s Wedges

While I love fashion jewelry, it’s really nice toe wear my fine jewelry pieces, like this sapphire necklace my husband bought me years ago.

I also love wearing hoop earrings a lot, A nod to my Boho style.

These are a lightweight nickle free version I love from  Simply Whispers

If you are a regular reader, you might recognize my bowling tote bag!

Yes, I went bowling today and will be doing so a lot this summer.

It’s important for my son to practice a lot before his State competition in July.

I purchased a Summer Fun Card where we pay $39.95 and get 3 games every week day for the entire Summer.

We did this last year and had lots of fun!

If that’s not enough we joined a fun league with the parents and children teams for Saturday Nights…

A great inside fun for Summer , especially good when our temps this week are in the 90’s !

Check out your local AMF bowling alley for details on how you to can join the fun!

I am grateful for break downs that lead to lessons learned for my children.

I am grateful for the fun we had bowling today!

I am grateful for finding my motivation to lose this weight and that I worked out first thing this morning.

I am grateful for a good night’s sleep.. I stayed up later due to my midnight walk, but slept in until noon, getting a full 8-9 hours, something that hasn’t happened in weeks!

I am grateful that I finally was able to stop by my friend’s home today to bring her daughter the wonderful clothing items I had purchased for the budding fashionista!

Today I worked out with weights first thing in the morning , committing myself to daily workouts.

This blogging thing and seeing pictures is just the reality check I needed…

When I did body measurements I confirmed what I already knew…

In the past any weight gain I’ve done so very evenly gaining the same number of inches in my chest, waist and hips…

This time my chest didn’t change at all and my waist bloomed 4inches while my hips only 2 inches…

This 15 pound gain at the stage of menopause is definitely showing!

These pants are by Old Navy, but I scored them on clearance so they are sold out.

With tighter waist than the shorts I wore the other day with the navy peplum top,

it doesn’t look anywhere near as good…

I do like this side pose, lol…

I am finding it funny that I have owned this bow necklace for over a year and not worn it much, yet have worn it twice in just a week or so..

I got it from Ebay, Here.  and my purse from Amazon, Here.

Dear Readers, At 11:30 pm I showed my husband the second picture above and told him how unhappy I am with this stupid gain and he said, “I guess it’s too late to go for a walk”   and I replied, “No it’s not if you are game , so am I”

Yep, We did it an hour walk at midnight!!!!

My supportive husband will think twice before saying anything like that again…It just proves how dedicated I am to getting this off and getting back to loving getting dressed daily.

I am grateful to my husband for being such a great sport and taking me for a late night walk.

I am grateful that I have always been a woman of spontaneity!

I am grateful for my blog and the pictures that make it impossible to ignore what the weight has done to my shape.

I am grateful to my dear daughter for keeping her word to her younger brother and making him a really cool Minecraft cake, made of Rice Krispy treats, blue jello, chocolate cake and green icing.. She missed his birthday in April because she was in graduate school… and she is heading back a week from today for a Summer class..

I am grateful for the fun I had tonight writing Haiku’s when challenged to do so on the group Facebook page for the GYPO Summer Challenge.  I will share at least one with you tomorrow!

I joke that this printed tank that I thrifted is as close to Camo print as I am ever going to wear…

DSC_0216 (2)

I love the muted shades ,pops of blue among the neutrals,

the ruffles and what you can’t see is that it is actually a sort of floral design….

I’ve been waiting to pair this with my olive cargo vest for a casual nod to the camo look.

I am tickled pink that I dared to try on these brown capris that were from last season, and that I was able to get in them after losing a few pounds.  Of course they are tighter than I’d like but I wore them anyway as inspiration to where I am heading in my weight loss journey!

Any time I get the chance to wear these four vintage bracelets I bought on ebay  awhile ago, I fully indulge as I love them and they can make any look have a boho vibe, lol.

I am happy with the colors in this look and how the brown bottoms , copper bracelets and cognac touch in my shoes all reflect well with my hair color…

I also like the small touches of blue in my earrings and shoes.

Looking forward to seeing these bottoms loosen up a bit as I continue my goal to get back down before my 50th b’day in September!

I am grateful for a fun day watching my youngest at his bowling lesson and seeing his progress throughout the lesson , since we didn’t bowl for a week, he started off slower than normal , but really picked it up by the end.

I am grateful for these bowling lessons and the fact that she doesn’t let him get away with anything and that he has a teacher besides myself- something important for a home-schooling teen!

I am grateful for my adventurous husband who didn’t laugh at me when I suggested our Saturday night date night be going to a rodeo, something I’ve never done, but I love trying new things- except foods, where I am picky!

I am grateful for this last week with my daughter before she heads back to Boston for a summer class. I am also grateful that she will be done and back again in just 6 weeks.

I am grateful for Jet Blue and cheap flights to Boston as I have every intention of going to see my daughter for her b’day July 5th!

I am not a big fan of shorts, but I found a way to wear them that I actually feel Great!

The magic formula is a 7 inch length shorts  with a peplum top!

Every combination I tried like this I loved, of course the wedge shoes help, too!

Longer shorts and wedges really are best for my petite height , especially with the longer top

With my style descriptors as “Feminine, Colorful, Sassy, Boho and Maximal”

This looks hits them all…I feel the most sassy in skirts and dresses, but these peplum tops

are similar to a dress in feminine flair, which is why I am in love with this silhouette.

My top is Isaac Mizrahi via QVC  and comes in several colors… I now own it in green and hot pink too!

I missed my youngest son taking my pics today and settled for my daughter, but she isn’t the perfectionist that he is , as he would have caught my necklaces being off to the side…

The life of a Mom Blogger!

My shorts are from Old Navy found, Here!

I had to settle for basic colors for them as they don’t come in brights, but that’s just fine!

Still taking pics on my phone as my missing camera has not turned up!

Dear Readers. It feels like such a relief to have a way to wear shorts and feel my best self, somethng I’ve been searching for.  I do live in a very humid, hot area , so shorts are something I am glad to have in my style in a more comfortable way than in years past.  Of course wearing them with Kimonos for my boho side will be on the horizon soon as well..

Do you like shorts or have you given up on them?

I am grateful for my daughter’s help in cleaning out one of the coat closets today, as we continue our whole house purge.

I am grateful that my oldest was here for the entire day, hanging out as he waited for his car repairs to be done.

I am grateful that my husband calls me throughout his work day in between appointments.

I am grateful that my daughter helped my youngest by keeping him on track with his homeschooling today!

I am grateful that my home-schooler started back up today after a few week break when his sibling first came back from college.

I am grateful that as the countdown begins to saying goodbye to my daughter as she heads back to Boston College for Summer school, that she understands how hard that is for me and reassured me that she was coming back for most of August

Three Weekends In A Row filled with Neil Diamond, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Billy Joel, has been so fabulous and I have to say the effects last long after the music has ended…

I hope I continue to find music events to enjoy for the Summer.

This outfit is all new from this new line I have really fallen for this season.

It’s called Kate & Mallory from Evine , previously known as ShopNBC

If you’ve been a Dear Reader for awhile, you know of my love of third completer pieces that I value to balance out the curves in my hourglass figure.   When I saw this vest on a live tv presentation, I practically drooled.

While I have a jean vest that I love, nothing is more fun to me than creating outfits of opposite juxtapositions , what I refer to as Ying/Yang.  Moto jackets and dresses have been a favorite silhouette for Fall/Winter.

It only makes sense that I couldn’t get this vest out of my mind and after debating whether I really needed another jean vest, I just had to go online and order it.

This pose was just for my photographer of the Day, my husband who had parked his car in my usual posing area..

The bad thing about watching fashion presentations in the Kate & Mallory line, is that I am attracted to so many items. Take in case , my dress, which again I couldn’t get out of my head and ordered along with the vest.

I feel very blessed with my petite 5’3″ height,  that includes longer legs, allowing me not to have to purchase petite bottoms,.  I can’t help thinking of those petites who don’t fall into that category and wish this line would make items in Petite Sizing. The length of this dress on me, means I probably will wear it with wedges or heels to keep the proportions right.

There is power in numbers and I know that if enough petite women make comments requesting it that other tv lines like this have stood up and paid attention….

I love dresses that I can wear with flats, but it doesn’t hurt to have one in this category and it has such a fun swingy skirt that wearing it with heels will make it move more, so it’s all good.

I really enjoyed wearing this dress and vest today and you can be sure that I will find other ways

to style both these pieces for the season.

I would also like to note, that I am really loving my haircut and getting use to not having such a neat look and think this ones suits my personality so much better.

Having fun with our friends at the Billy Joel Concert

We met some really fun people and danced a lot, this was my husband being very silly as the woman behind us offered to take our picture!

I am so grateful for the fun events my husband and I have had these past few weeks and that this time we brought along dear friends.

I am grateful to my husband for dancing the night away with great enthusiasm, in the past he has done so to make me happy, but this time he was really enjoying himself.

I am grateful that my husband and I are on the same page with loving these music events, he told me he already is eyeing a few more concerts.  I am just as happy at the free beach events and there are tribute bands this weekend!

I am grateful that my oldest came over today, I really do miss him since he moved out late last Summer and was very busy with school and work.  Seeing him twice in a week was  a real treat.

I am grateful for the fun we had talking about recipes as my three adult children have all been trying new things and have dishes to share, so we arranged a night for them each to cook for us.

I am grateful that my husband supports my passion for fashion!

Don't stop until you're proud

Happy Weekend!

I hope you enjoyed these, Any favorites?

This has been a week of clouds and rain,

but I don’t let that get me down.

It’s been fun as it forced me to steer clear of maxi skirts and certain shoes

Still using my phone for Pictures….

I did however manage to wear one of my longer boho crinkle skirts in my favorite shade.

I thrifted this one and the zippered hoodie jacket I bought off Ebay, somedays it’s fun wearing

things I love that aren’t specifically on trend.

I think the color combo and my new pointed toe flats with ankle straps add just enough to be modern.

I really am loving my new layered hair and how I can leave it more curly like this, perfect for a rainy day,

while also being able to use my straightener for days when my more conservative side likes to play..

My purse is Nine West bought a few years ago at an Outlet Mall.

My shoes are from Amazon, Here and come in several colors.

Here’s  two ways I wore this last season..

Orange Crush- Aztec Boho Style.... Over 40 fashion blogger...

Orange Bohomeian Skirt... Over 40 fashion blogger

The good thing about this rain is that it looks like it will clear up by Saturday….

Why is that so Important?

Well my husband got us tickets to see Billy Joel and it’s outside and we have plans to tailgate beforehand!

I hope you my Dear Readers all have a fabulous weekend, spending time with loved ones and recharging your batteries for the coming week.

Any Special Plans for this weekend?

I am grateful for a very lazy day that matched the vibe of the weather.

I am grateful that my daughter went out tonight with friends from her childhood, wish she would have let me take pictures of her outfit, lol!

I am grateful that the shopping list comes out tonight at midnight for the Summer GYPO challenge, as I hope to shop my closet for items and get inspiration to make it a no-brainer to get dressed… This being creative and picking out outfits daily really does take time some days, others it is easy.. You can still sign up if interested.

I am grateful for the fun of stepping on the scale this morning and thinking it was broken… I’ve lost over 5lbs since last Friday when I really got serious about this!

I really am having fun with purging my closet and going through my clothes to find what bloggers refer to as closet orphans.  They are those things that you love, but just haven’t worn much for some reason or another.

This jacket falls into that category

Nighttime Photos after Parent’s Night Out

This jacket is linen by Emma James, A Liz Claiborne Company, which I thrifted.

It’s been neglected in my closet as I’ve probably thought of it as a more dressy piece and was saving it for a special occasion.  I am done with that nonsense.  I love it and I am going to wear it instead of saving it.

I sometimes get really stuck in my head over how a non-working outside the home mother, should dress as, I love dressing  nicer than most in that category and had backed off some of my favorites.  Blazers in particular took a back seat this winter , but I hope to get out of my own way and wear what I love regardless of the box I think I should be in.

Silly me, also use to reserve the sapphire necklace for special occasions too.

What in the world have I been thinking?

Perhaps I am caught in the struggle of the generations before me who only used the good china for holidays!

I think this countdown to my 50th birthday in September is responsible for this new me and I love it!

Another thing I am really into right now is Peplum tops,

I love the extra feminine touch to outfits, this one is from but check out these from

Issaac Mizrahi , they look to be a little longer and I ordered a few of these to try.

The fabulous purple purse can be found Here

My pants are Pixie’s by Old Navy and shoes a few years old from Payless

My apologies for the smudges on the picture from my phone, I have yet to find my camera since my house was torn apart and rearranged due to the bedroom redo…

I am grateful for a wonderful Parent’s Night Out and am so appreciative of this fabulous group of women!

I am grateful that my husband’s first words when I came home was, ” You look nice, I really like this!”, as he touched my jacket.

I am grateful that my oldest came by today and all four of my children hung out tonight while I was out.                                                                                                   I am grateful that when I left for my night out that, all four of my children were hanging out in my new king size bed.  I want them to all be close.

I am grateful that my new bedspread arrived, now I just have to get the curtains installed and fix the holes in the wall from the electrical problem we had a hard time finding!

I won’t bore you with all the details,

but it began with no electricity in the middle I found out the Parent’s Night Out

I was dressed and ready for was rescheduled,

and now I am on the second version of this post as it went crazy

and turned to computer code , not my words and pictures…

The Good news of the day came in the form of a UPS delivery, all fashionistas share that feeling, lol.

DG2 by Diane Gilman SuperStretch Lite Cuffed Capri

This time I could not hold back any longer and bought myself two pairs of

Diane Gilman Superstretch Lite Cuffed Capris (try saying that three times fast, lol)

I was lucky to get them the other day when they were the daily special and cheaper.

I know this white and the indigo pair will be very versatile and get me through this weight loss

and into my bottoms from last year!

I bought this sweater several years ago from QVC during the time when Project Runway Season 2 winner Chloe Dao had her line Simply Chloe Dao selling there.  I love this sweater and it’s a great quality and I have not worn it as much as I should have.  Pairing down my closet brought this to the forefront!

Dear Readers, my great eating went out the window today… It began with the inability to make a smoothie or omelet due to the lack of electricity and ended with the pizza night I had promised the kids, thinking I was going out.  I did opt for unsauced wings but drenched them in ranch dressing… I am planning to go do a workout after finishing this blog!

I am so grateful for the day of no electricity and how we were all together hanging out in the same room, making a grocery list and planning dinner menus for the next two weeks.

I am grateful for the change of Parent’s Night Out, as I would have greatly missed a Mom who was home with her teen who had just had dental surgery this morning.

I am grateful for the happy accident of my son accidentally ordering the pizza for pick up, saving us the delivery charge, usually I don’t think twice about that, but when it was gone, it felt good, lol!

I am grateful to my dearest friend for her support and love!

Today I went for a very casual look with my

“Don’t Worry Everything will be Amazing”  tshirt I bought last year.

A great way to start a Monday!

Linking up with Elegantly Dressed and Stylish

I thought I would show you my rolling shopper bag that accompanies me on my grocery store walks.

I bought it from Amazon, Here.  It comes in several other colors and really holds a lot.

I use to walk home with a few bags and women in my neighborhood always stopped to ask me if I needed a ride.

I greatly appreciated their generosity, as I don’t know them, but I love the exercise and sunshine from walking, so now I can do it without having full arms and catching the attention of others.

We had temperatures near 90 today, but a nice breeze, that almost took my hat off.

The best part of my walk to the store was the two of my kids joined me this time.

I must admit the other fun part was the swing in my skirt… It’s just an inexpensive fold-over waist skirt , I bought last year. You can find one similar at Old Navy Here.   They really are a fun casual skirt, perfect for my Mom on the Go lifestyle.

Dear Readers. I am still going through closets, the master walk-in had everything removed for the carpet that was put in, and I have to admit we had a lot of space bags of clothes tucked behind the hanging ones, as well as boxes of papers.  Today I managed to go through mine, my goodness how many pairs of winter pj’s does one woman need.  I donated all but three sets.  In good news all my workout gear for Summer is now in the wash.  So today marks the end of my going through every article of clothing and deciding what to keep or to donate.

The beauty of my new bed with drawers is that there is a ton of space underneath, which I put suitcases and space bags of winter items… No longer will they be stored in the closet and they are totally hidden.  In fact, I had to remove a drawer in order to get them under the bed.  I love this extra storage space and how much neater my closet now feels.  Now if only my dear husband would go through his clothing as well.

I am grateful for a good night’s rest and the energy I found on a Monday to get so much done today!

I am grateful for AC, as I cannot stand the heat!

I am grateful for the fun I had taking blog photos, my daughter kept telling me I was grimacing. It was hard today because there is a detour and ten times the traffic on my street, so I was feeling very self conscious!

I am grateful that I finished my vegetable casserole today and that nothing went to waste.

I am grateful that my son gave up the idea that he needed to repaint my old dressing room, and went ahead and moved in last night, as the stuff in the hallway was driving me nuts.

I am grateful that my three kids home all hang out together in one room late into the night.
