Parent’s Night Out

Posted on: July 10, 2015

Tonight was another Wonderful Mom’s Night Out

and I have to say that I’ve been saying for a very long time that the women in our generation,

are missing out on these amazing  times with other women that use to be such a big part of the past,

like when different generations would all get together for quilting bees.

Our group all looks forward to these nights and it really recharges us all!

I really struggled today trying to put together an outfit and have a huge pile of things I tried on, but dismissed…

It’s all about this darn menopausal weight gain!

I ended up with this new lace top from Jane.com, my newest guilty pleasure…

The skirt is one I bought in a lot of skirts from Ebay last year.

I wanted a pop of color in my purse and felt rather daring with this combo…

I had better lose this weight because, dressing this body is bringing me down..

Dear Readers,  the first two days on my push towards my birthday have gone well. I walked Wednesday night and hurt the back of me knee , yet again.  I may have found the culprit in my new Nike’s that I purchased more for sporty looks , than exercise shoes and it just so happens the last two walks I went on , which both hurt my knee were with those shoes.

I am excited about trying once this heals to go back to my other shoes

and not have to give up the walking as my form of cardio…

Gratitude

I am grateful for the laughter tonight at my Parent’s Night Out.

I am grateful that my husband wanted to go walking again tonight, not that I could with me knee…

I am grateful that I enjoyed not bowling today and just watching my sons and niece.

I am grateful that when I put my knee issue out to a fitness support group, that their responses helped me figure out it could be my shoes.

I am grateful for comments from my Dear Readers!

Hi Tracey, I have been reading your Blog for a while and enjoy your outfit posts and honest comments. ..Just wanted to say I know what your going through with the Menopausal weight gain; I was determined to beat it after Christmas as I had a big holiday planned for my 50th in may (Maldives).
I am pleased to say I managed to lose 15lbs in 4 months (my goal was 14); I downloaded the Fitness App, its a calorie and activity monitor, I found it really helped to track my intake and activity levels. (I was doing Pilates x2 and Zumba x1 wk).
Since then I’ve managed to keep the weight off (some did go on whilst on holiday!)…Thought it may help you – good luck, if you’re determined enough you will do it!

Thanks Sandra and congratulations on getting yourself back on track and your 50th birthday!

So glad you figured out what caused your knee pain. Sounds reasonable to me. Shoes sure make a difference. You’ll get back to your walking when this heals.

Your hair looks extra-nice, and I love the lace top!

Thank you Suzanne, the idea of giving up walking was a daunting one as it’s something I shared as a child with my father and have enjoyed my entire life.

I like the 2 together! I wish I could find a group like that! Even though I am super busy and exhausted at the end of the day (I’m a kindergarten teacher), I need to grown-ups to talk to. 🙂 Once in a great while a group of teachers I used to work with will get together, but that isn’t often enough.

Try to see about a monthly get together. It’s just enough and we look forward to it. It’s so rewarding to laugh with other women. I am sure that there are others feeling the same as you who would welcome the invitation. It doesn’t have to be a huge group… 6 or so is a great number, but definitely keep it under 10 for closer relationships without getting clicks… just my opinion….

I love this outfit and especially the bright purse!! You look great! I belong to a knitting group (like a quilting bee) and you’re right—it does recharge me! jodie
