Let the Healing Begin
Posted October 6, 2016
on:I shared with you , my Dear Readers,
our grief in August when our beloved bunny, Chloe passed away,
so it only seems fair to share
our healing today as we welcomed a new bunny into our family.
Meet Penelope!
The best part of this fun journey was that while away on my cruise,
DH happened upon the rabbit breeder where we had gotten our first Mini Lop, Chloe.
We had looked online for the breeder , but couldn’t find him and thought perhaps over about 8 years that
he may have gone out of the business.
The universe provides and DH saw his truck while pumping gas and struck up a conversation.
Prior to joining our family , Penelope lived her not quite 6 months
hearing the voices of the father/son breeders…
When we stopped on the way home to run to get some coolant for the car,
I stayed in the car talking to her and noticed her ears pricking up and it hit me ,
how high pitched my voice must be in comparison.
Her days as a show bunny are a thing of the past , as is living in a barn outside
in a wire cage. Today she got brave and explored the house and was tentative ,
but definitely curious, as long as she could venture back to either my daughter’s closet or
under the den couch. While she lived in a breeder environment, I must say ,
he adores his rabbits and is quite proud of showing them and has a garage display that
is quite impressive with ribbons and trophies.
This breeder also brings his delightful rabbits to Nursing homes to cheer up the residents, gives them
to veterans who need a therapy bunny, and even donates them to youngsters who can’t afford them.
He truly loves his rabbits and has a good heart.
As a mother , nothing feels better than seeing this smile , as my son
has felt the loss of Chloe so much as they shared his small college apartment.
Penelope headed back to college with him and we will see her in two weeks
when he comes home for Fall Break….
Of course he always sent us Chloe pictures and updates of her antics ,
so I trust he will do the same as he shares the ventures of taking a show bunny who
lived in a cage into a domesticated , litter trained beloved pet.
Gratitude
I am grateful that we found a bunny that felt right to us all and the perfect timing as my son in his junior year , is under more stress with harder classes , leadership responsibilities, volunteering and even managing some fun flag football…
I am grateful that the path of Storm Matthew is currently not heading to us , and pray that remains it’s path, while praying for those in Florida being beaten by it currently.
I am grateful that my husband was able to run home for an introduction to our new bunny before he headed to college.
I am grateful the beginning of our homeschool journey of delving into college credits through the CLEP exams
I am grateful that today my friend and I planned a Parent’ s Night Out dinner , as we missed them all Summer !
