About Me

Versatile Style by Tracey

I am a 47 year old stay at home mother of four.  I have a son and daughter in college and sons 17 and 13 .  Last year I began homeschooling my youngest and am so proud of what we have accomplished and want to scream from the rooftops of our success after the school said he had a learning disability in reading and writing and he soon discovered that they had a “teaching disability.”   They never went back over phonetic work, which we did last year and miracles ensued.  If anyone is interested in a program for 3rd graders to adults, please e-mail and I will give you info on a program that is age appropriate.

In 2009 my mother passed away after several years of illness where I was her caregiver.  I gained over 6o lbs due to the pain of watching her suffer dementia.  I am ready to live fully again and embrace, life and my health and joined Weight Watchers and have reached the half way point in my weight loss.

I love fashion and am obsessed with creating a wardrobe for my soon to be thinner body.  I hope to be braver in my fashion choices and burst out of my comfort zone and really experiment and have fun.  I plan to do some refashions to alter clothing I currently love as my body shrinks.  Stay tuned and share this exciting time of rebirth and growth as I embrace the final years of mothering minor children and seek a new found life for myself.

Hopefully I can learn some styling tips from you because I have NONE and I want to learn how wear pretty things as I lose weight too. I always catch myself saying “that’s cute but I’m too fat to wear that ” or “it would look cute on a skinny person “

Oh, the things we do to ourselves… I caution you to ask yourself if that is something you would say to another woman you love… If you have questions along your journey by all means ask away, I would love to be supportive!

Thanks! I have gotten so much better than I use to be. It’s all about the process. I am working hard to change my old negative thought processes! I am looking forward to following you 🙂

Funny this is the second blog I have read on woman in their 40’s doing style like yourself. And both of you had your mother pass away in 2009. Now here I am looking at this and thinking I might do something similar and guess what. My mother just passed away as well. She died in May of this year. To me having a mother pass away changed me. My mother was way into style me not so much she be mortified to see me without make up. Since she passed I been actually taking the time to look nice. I really like your blog as you are a full figure woman and still look amazing. Gives encouragement for other woman.

It seems to me that losing the same sex parent has a profound affect and I find it interesting that you too are seeking to care better for yourself. I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for the comments!!!
