Today’s Prompt is Pinterest Inspiration
and I was in a boho mood.
I just wanted a long Flowy light skirt that swishes I walk, lol
This is My Pinterest Inspiration, with Staples like a white tee, and jean jacket
this was easy to put together and I have to say I probably would not
have thought to wear a white tee with my skirt. That is why
using Pinterest Inspiration photos can be so helpful.
A gorgeous breezy day, so perfect for the vibe I was hoping
to channel for the day. I went to a movie and walking at the mall,
my white Sperry Slip-on Sneakers were a perfect way to finish
the outfit and bookend the white top.
I should have gotten a close up of my jewelry while I was wearing it.
but we will have to settle to this version, lol
Gratitude
I am grateful for a fun day with my friend going to a movie and mall shopping.
I am grateful that I found the Forest Green Jeans my daughter had on her Xmas list.
I am grateful for a short walk to the grocery store on this beautiful breezy day!
I am grateful for sunshine and how it lifts my spirit.
I am grateful to my daughter for granting her brother’s wish by backing him a Black Forest Cake for his Birthday today.
October Style- Shirt Dress 2 Ways

I searched for a while for a shirt dress and was thinking
about an Old Navy Chambray version, but ultimately my heartstrings
kept pulling me back to this Isaac Mizrahi version.
The Old Navy version didn’t have a belt and did not have buttons
all the way down the dress, as a true shirt dress should.
After seeing this one, the chambray versions just couldn’t measure up!
This subtle floral print is better for my maximal style and
can stand alone without much help or need for accessories to
punch up the look. For this time, I removed the matching belt
it came with and opted for a black one,
but Navy, Green, Yellow, Burgundy, White, Cognac
Would also be good options for the future.
The beauty of a shirt dress is that it can also be worn as a Duster.
I love it here with the white, which is a perfect way for me to
fake Fall when we still have warm weather!
I look forward to styling it with tights and boots for winter
and keep imagining it with a black turtleneck and pants for a duster option.
I also love the roll-tab sleeves, for now, that can be worn as long sleeves for winter.
Come back for Tomorrow’s Look is Pinterest Inspiration and I chose a Boho one,
as what’s better than greeting Hump Day with a long boho skirt.
Gratitude
I am grateful that Fall is here and even if the weather isn’t cooperating,
that at least my son’s Bowling Season has started back up! It is such a supportive and fun community!
It was such fun to see my son bowl a
Clean Game which means no pins were left standing!
I am grateful that my son away at college called to say he is coming home for the weekend!
I am grateful that my children all get along and truly care deeply for each other.
I am grateful for a fun shopping day with my daughter where we got started on Christmas Shopping!
A Good Start to the Week!
Posted January 22, 2018
on:- Monday’s can be difficult, especially when you are trying to get yourself out of a funk.
- A solid Determination is Key and that was how I began my day!
I had trouble falling asleep last night ( my sleep has been off for a week), but I managed to sleep until 10am, resulting in a good night’s rest!
Music is such a mood booster for me, so I began by turning on my sister’s Ipod, that girl had great taste in music!
I got some work things done, then got ready to go get my nails done.
I had been hibernating and fighting off sinus issues ( thank goodness I succeeded and it never got bad) ,
and had neglected my nails since before Christmas!
The other Key to my self-care of the day was that to get to the salon, I walked, hence my Sketchers for a shoe choice.
It was a beautiful day in the 60’s and a bit windy, hence my flat hair in this shot, lol.
I am wearing an Amelia James Aurora dress/ tunic, it actually goes to my knee like a dress.
I really love it and think it is such a versatile piece because it is a sleeveless dress that
can be worn layered, making it a full four- season piece.
I only have one more left in my stock, a size 2X if anyone is interested.
It comes in solid shades and I hope to order a few of those soon.
My sweater is also from my AJ line and I have it in sizes
XS, M, L, XL and 3X, comment if you’d like one.
They retail for $50 ,but I am selling them for $35 now.
Gratitude
I am grateful that my son’s financial aid came through before the government shut down allowing him a peaceful weekend.
I am grateful that I finally got my nails, done they were driving me nuts and I am sure my DH will be happy to stop hearing about it, lol
I am grateful for a decent amount of sleep as last week it suddenly went haywire!
I am grateful for my parents, as today a group I belong to posted how emotions were dealt with in family growing up and I was the only one
who commented in a positive way… You see my mother was so funny, she told us that when she said No, we could plead our case and sometimes she might
change her mind, but others she would remain firm, but would always explain her reason. She had telling us No in a compassionate way down to perfection!
I can’t imagine what losing my father at 13 would have been like if our emotions were something that was allowed!
I was truly blessed to feel seen heard and valued as a child!
So that begs the question my dear readers, how was your family regarding expressing emotions?
And, if you get in a funk, what do you do to help get yourself out of it?
A Busy Time of Year!
Posted December 18, 2017
on:Dear Readers, I hope you all are doing well and having fun in the moment of the holiday happenings.
My son came home from college Friday, so all is right in my world. As a mother of 3 adult children (youngest 17),
I am very aware that we are blessed to have them all around us this holiday season and that may not always be the case.
Saturday was a very full day beginning with my son’s bowling league’s
potluck party where I can get away with letting my silly side come out to play.
Nothing like a gorgeous green sweater to dress up a pair of fun holiday leggings and t-shirt!
-
-
- For the evening activities, I wore the Camden off the shoulder dress from
-
the Amelia James line I sell.
I received so many compliments on my dress and was tickled pink when
-
-
- I kicked butt in the Corn-hole game and got it in at the longest shot and won $60.
-
- My children offered to take my money and were in awe when I told them I had pockets in my dress.
- My oldest was working ,but the rest all made sure to attend to support
- their father who received salesman of the year for the second year in a row.
-
Just for fun and in case it helps someone else….
I bought these great boxes from Amazon to have a better way to store
my scarves without taking up two dresser drawers.
They are stacked nicely right next to my dresser and a fabulous solution.
Dear Readers, Wishing everyone a great week and hope if you celebrate
Christmas that despite the hustle and bustle you
laugh and have joy in the process and don’t stress yourself out.
I also hope in the spirit of the season you help someone less fortunate,
My family is going to spend one day this week shopping with my single my Mom,
non-driving friend to drive and shop for her daughter and keep her distracted so
the joy of surprises is in tact. We have done this every year for the past 11 years and it has
become part of our tradition. Prior to this we sponsored an Angel Tree child and some years still do that.
Does your family have a giving tradition this season, Comment and let me know?
I love our homeschool bowling on Wednesday, but dressing for it is always about keeping warm!
The bowlers are moving so they are fine, but us mother’s who watch are another story.
It is so funny to head out the door with my son in shorts and short sleeves and myself always in pants, short sleeves and a cardigan or jacket in my hand.
My tunic is actually one from the Amelia James line I sell.
I have a huge wardrobe and won’t wear my line every day on the blog,
but quite frankly I really love these new pieces so darn much!
Every woman should own a great pair of boot-cut jeans and these are ones,
that I must wear with 3-4 inch heels, are a girl’s best friend.
If you read my blog, you probably already guessed that these are by
I belted this Milan ( all of our Amelia James pieces are named after cities)
because as a petite I wanted to make my legs look as long as possible.
Proportions is the one thing blogging and taking photos taught me.
This can be worn as a dress as well when unbelted and I intend to style it
with black tights, ankle boots, and a leather jacket when temperatures cooperate.
This may be too short for some women to wear as a dress, but the younger women love it!
I have this $50 Milan in Size Small – 3x if anyone is interested you can email me @ KTStylists@gmail.com and you can check out videos and albums
on my Facebook page to see other Amelia James styles, eventually, I will get a website together.
Gratitude
I am grateful for getting back on track and not craving any sugar these last two days!
I am grateful for homeschool bowling on HUMP DAY to break up the week.
I am grateful my daughter is helping my son study and get ready for CLEP testing for Biology,
I am grateful for this business and the community of supportive women and for finally answering the question,
“What am I going to do when mothering minor children for 31 years comes to an end?”

If you are a regular follower of my blog you know my feminine nature and adoration of
dresses for every day wear, not that special occasion dresses aren’t fun too!
Therefore it should come as no surprise that in my Amelia James business venture,
that I would stock dresses. This one is our Chelan dress and a top seller at $54.
I prefer it belted to bring it just above my knee and create a fun swing skirt.
I loved styling the floral with a fun striped bag. I have this dress in a few colors
in sizes small to 3x and will be doing a live Facebook sale tonight at 7:30 pm on all dresses for $10 off.
You can find my page HERE and watch it Live or in Replay through the weekend.
Going Live is a bit nerve wracking and I am so nervous leading up to it,
but once I get started, I am usually fine.
I am so blessed to have the support of my children and two of my sons will be
behind the scenes keeping me straight.
Gratitude
I am so grateful for the loving and full support of my family.
I am grateful my husband just called me to wish me luck going live on my own with no business partner.
I am grateful for a fabulous sunny day!
I am grateful for this new business venture to distract me from this darn mourning my sister process.
I am grateful that my husband is also starting a business venture and got word today , that it is a GO!

Today, I was suppose to go to my Weight Watcher meeting and had this outfit all planned out.
Getting enough sleep reigns supreme in my life, so I opted to go back to bed and get some much
needed rest, as too many nights in a row without had taken it’s toll.
Here is the outfit I had ready for the day.
When I put it on and looked in the mirror , I instantly thought
“Oh , there I am! ”
It became glaringly obvious to me that I have not been myself
these last 6 months and even my style choices were exhibiting that.
The awesome vest adds just the right wonderful element of texture to the tone on tone look.
It is by Indigo Thread, a very boho company I adore.
Here is the link to my vest which is limited to one color now and Here is all the vests they offer now.
My turtle necklace was handmade by sister and is much loved and cherished.
My saddle bag style cross-body purse is by Naturalizer and sold out.
This will probably be last purse purchased for a while as I am pretty satisfied with what I have.
I did recently throw away my beautiful green leather one and told my kids and husband that they should put in on my
birthday wish list as it was the first purse I bought myself after years of using diaper bags and sadly was beyond repair.
I love how my hair color bookends the purse shade.
One last note , if you haven’t tried block heeled shoes yet,
I highly recommend it as these are so comfortable to walk in.
Alas they too are Naturalizers and sold out because I always buy off season on clearance.
Gratitude
I am grateful that I took care of me today and skipped my WW meeting because nothing replaces the need for sleep. As for my WW journey so far,
it has been a slow first month with just over 3lbs lost, but I have managed to use my Simply Fit board to lose 3 inches from the 7 I gained in my stomach from menopause!
I am grateful that my husband too got to catch up on sleep and didn’t have to go to work until 2:30pm today!
I am grateful that my kids are so supportive of each other and truly care deeply.
I am grateful that our allergy laden Lhasa Apso is currently at the vet with two of my adult kids.

With all the craze and addictive quality to the Lularoe brand of clothes, I had been steering clear.
Today , my son’t bowling group had a fundraiser, so of course I had to see what all the fuss was about.
I met two wonderful Lularoe Consultants : Jessica (HERE) and Kristin (HERE)
If you are looking for Lularue Products please support these wonderful women
who were so gracious as
to follow my blog the minute they heard I was a blogger.
I had seen first hand how the Carly Dress works wonders for a woman’s curves,
so decided that I had to give it a try.
This is Absolutely not your basic T-shirt dress, so don’t let it fool you.
As women we all know that the smallest part of any woman is just below the chest,
which is why an Empire waist is so figure flattering.
This dress goes in just under the chest , then flares out slightly in the most flattering way.
I saw this for the first time on a plus size girl and
was floored at what it did for her body,
and knew I had to give it a try.
Apparently I was grimacing instead of smiling in all my photos, lol
Let’s count this as my before picture to look back on as I
am beginning this weight loss journey!
I specifically picked this pattern because I knew it would go with my blue and pink wedges
that I bought last year from TJ Maxx,.
I bought this Indigo Thread vest (Vests currently selling) in both Ivory and Black last season.
This is how I would wear it for an evening event more than a daytime Spring
or Summer look. An outdoor concert and I’d rock this out!
My apologies , I was dressing “Scarlett ” (my dressform) so many times
and didn’t straighten this one up correctly..
I really like how it brings out the white details in the dress and brightens up the look.
This is a Lularoe “Joy” vest I bought with it today.
I love how it brightens it up .
This is another Indigo Thread vest I bought recently for this season.
Crotchet or Lace pieces offer a great detail to outfits
as the element of texture is represented.
While the dress has pink flowers,
I like the darker burgundy and how it goes,
but doesn’t match.
How about some pattern mixing to complete the long
Boho vests I could wear with this dress?
I found this Vest via Jane.com sometime last year.
If I was a stylist dressing clients one rule I would institute is
to add a black and white print of every category in your closet.
A dress, pants, shirt , sweater, etc .
It increases your wardrobe as it can be paired with any solid color.
Vests over tank tops are my go to for Summer , so I recently added
these baby soft “Shawl Dawls“ that work as a vest or more of a Kimono .
It just so happens the rose colored Shawl Dawl one works for the dress too.
This is worn more like the Kimono style.
I buy in multiples if I like something, but have learned to keep it to
just two of any one thing.
Jean Jackets are always a great layering piece for Spring.
With a pair of leggings or tights and ankle boots this could become a cold weather
outfit and I will definitely layer it for those months and get plenty of use out of this dress.
One World Jean Jackets are my favorite , this one found HERE .
With my love of jean jackets, A few years back I invested in 3
of these cropped versions by One world (similar ones here) .
For my petite height a cropped version if wonderful and
I highly recommend if you don’t currently own one in white,
that you add one to your style for great versatility.
A lot of Duster Sweaters are lighter weight and perfect for
Spring weather fluctuations .
This brand has a lot of Spring Duster options Here.
Of course I couldn’t just show one option for
pattern mixing. This Halston sweater is definitely
thin and has an open weaved back, making it a Spring option.
Bonus: this is how I wore it to run to BJ’s to go grocery shopping .
I did the rubber band trick to gather it and shorten it a bit when wearing with
the leggings as it created a better look for my height with the leggings.
Gratitude
I am grateful that after 3 days of asking my sister for a sign that she knows
I have her beloved cats ,Oreo and Cupcake
and can see how happy they are and how much joy they bring us,
indeed a sign showed up!
I am grateful for a weekend with my son home from college , miss that guy!
I am grateful that we were all together and celebrated my youngest’s 17th birthday early ,
giving him hoverboards that he had actually given up on ever getting and thoroughly surprising him.
Notice I said hoverboards plural as I got two so a sibling could join him in the fun.
I am grateful for a Weight Watcher buddy in my dear friend and the way
we push each other to get fitbit steps.
I am grateful for a fun family and friends day spent at Botanical Gardens and for becoming a member ,
so we can go back throughout the year.
Embracing Maximal Trend
Posted October 19, 2016
on:I’ve always referred to my style as maximal,
but this season it’s an official trend!
How does one embrace Fall Maximalism when the temperatures are LIKE Summer?
Check out the Lovely Ladies at the “I Feel Pretty Link Up”
My private style sisters group suggested styling a skirt and with all the fun
talk regarding the maximal trend on a fashion forum,
I knew just what skirt needed to come out to play!
This multi media OSO Casuals skirt is on clearance for $18.99 and comes in 4 great colors perfect for Fall. It’s hard to see , but the bottom is lace and there are two panels of embroidery on top of the embossed floral material. That itself qualifies this as a maximal piece.
You can see the lace bottom better in this photo.
I paired it with another maximal piece of the my polka dot sweater with ruffle detail .
I’ve had that for a few years and it still remains a favorite sweater.
My metallic pointed toe low wedges are a thrifted find.
A “blingy” necklaces also ups the maximal level.
My necklace is a Susan Graver from previous seasons , but Here are her current ones available .
You can see the ruffle detail in my sweater better in this photo.
I finished it off with my cute owl cuff bracelet that I found awhile back on Ebay.
You can see a peek of my new nail color a fun red -orange shade.
I got acrylics for my cruise, a first for me and DH loved the idea of my keeping them.
I finished this maximal look off with my GILI ( stands for Got it Love it )
obi belt and hobo style purse (sold out from previous seasons ) .
Dear Readers, I love these Fall colors and have so many other ways I plan to
wear this skirt going into winter. Burgundy is going very strong for the season!
Have you thought about ways to embrace the maximal trend or are you a die hard minimalist who is steering clear?:
Chime in, love your comment!
Gratitude
I am grateful that the universe gives what you ask for, today DH went to northern Virginia to cover leads, as he’s not been having as many as he’d like and the opportunity came up for two days of packed in leads so off he went!
I am grateful that my DH has inherited such a strong work ethic from his Father.
I am grateful that tonight my son is coming home from college with our new bunny!
I am grateful that my son had a good day at bowling.
Versatility of a Patterned Dress
Posted October 17, 2016
on:When I saw this dress from Glamour Farms on Grace and Beauty,
I fell absolutely in love.
It sold out and thanks to a Style Sister who messaged me that it was
back in stock, I was able to finally order it.
As a petite it is longer on me and I bought a large because of my 39″ bust.
There was ample room in the bust and dress, but the arms would be an issue, but are fine for me.
Best of all , this baby has pockets!
One thing I think you should look for in a patterned dress , is for colors that work with toppers you
already have in your wardrobe, which is why I was so drawn to this particular print.
My first thought before it even arrived was to pair it with a burgundy sweater to
bring out the browns and pinks in the print.
Since I’ve added this Burgundy Utility jacket from Jane. com,
I opted for this instead of a sweater.
I didn’t get a picture of it, but I also have a pink utility jacket that works well too.
Keep in mind that any burgundy or pink topper would work.
If interested , check Jane often as they get these utility jackets on a regular basis
The next obvious piece for this print was my beloved mint moto jacket.
Unfortunately I bought this last year, so it is sold out.
I thought this was going to be my favorite topper for this dress.
It is definitely one of my favorites, but the more I played around with toppers,
a new favorite emerged, which I am saving for last.
Creme is another color that works well this and I think I might even
go very matchy -matchy and add my creme boots with it .
This tobacco color jacket also works well ,
this look is among my favorites as it is more subdued contrast
This is a new jacket I bought for more neutrals in my style from Just Fab. .
Next up I went for a chocolate brown cardigan,
I love long cardigans with dresses in Fall/Winter.
I bought this sweater last year, but here is what colors currently available.
Although the background on the dress is brown,
I tried it with this black duster length cardigan and was
pleasantly surprised how much I liked it.
To go with a complete surprise,
I tried it this fun fringe boho sweater.
The color may look grey, but it really a chambray blue shade.
The blue seemed to make the mint less green and more blue.
One trend that is big for this season is more maximal
looks than ever before with lots of pattern mixing.
I loved the way this vest demonstrates that trend.
This is my final option for toppers and my favorite look.
The orange Marla Wynne sweater is sold out.
Her line is a new love of mine and I own 2 pants from that line in addition to
this very thick, warm and beautiful kimono sweater.
Dear Readers, This was a very fun adventure, I actually tried the dress on as soon as it
arrived and explored all these options by trying them on. The dress is a swing dress and
a few options I tried didn’t work, the specific one that comes to mind was a peplum jacket.
Do you have a favorite out of these options? Would love to hear from you, so please comment!
The principal of buying printed items that work with pieces in your closet can work with tops as well.
Of course this doesn’t have to require a purchase of something new, how about finding something print in your own closet and see what you have to pair with it, warning you may find yourself wanting to add something else to your closet, lol
Gratitude
I am grateful to my style sister for noticing my comment on Grace & Beauty , and making sure I knew it was back in stock.
I am grateful for the fun memory this venture stirred up in me, as my mother was very good at picking one color out of a print and making outfits. In fact at her funeral one mom she had babysat for mentioned just that to me, as she was always so impressed to come home and find what outfit my mother had put together for her son.
I am grateful that I am back on a weight loss journey and have lost 6lbs in three days.
I am grateful for spending time with friends this week as I had lunch with two friends and coffee with another.
