Wednesday I went to my son’s homeschool bowling, popped home for a quick bowl of plain greek yogurt and peaches for lunch
before heading out to use my Movie Pass for the first time!
$9.95 a month and my first movie was $9.05.
I chose “Forever My Girl”, one of those movies I would love but DH would not, lol
It was a cute story and I adored all the fabulous music throughout.
I wore my Amelia James Olive Aleyska Sweater Again, Lol
It was so tough to see the pictures and my weight gain, but it is my reality
and good for motivation. I feel like so much of myself has been lost these past
14 months of mourning, but am starting to slowly find my way back to being me.
A busy day and weeks means multi-tasking and I did just that…
I was talking on speakerphone to my 22 year old who is in college in Richmond.
I have been wearing these Aerosoles boots a lot lately and am in complete awe of their comfort.
I bought them last season , but did not wear them much and was disappointed to not find them still available for sale….
I am thinking next season I may need to stalk another pair of comfortable wedge version…
Follow this week to join my page and join me for a night of fun!
I am in a bit of a pickle with starting this business to soon after my sister passed and am trying to get myself
out of it, I have joined a group to learn more about Social Media for businesses and am having a clearance of
winter items tomorrow at 7:30 pm EST to see if I can sell of the winter items and not be stuck with that inventory
while I work on building my following to have better success in Spring and Summer!
Join me and share with friends, to help me sell these and generate funds to keep going with new fresh inventory.
Gratitude
I am grateful for the time spent with my youngest and his bowling.
I am grateful for my dearest friend giving me such a glowing review and asking her friends to support my business.
I am grateful for all the online supportive women in business who all support each other.
I am grateful that when my husband came home late last night with a friend from out of town to spend the night,
that I slept right through , their apparent loud talking that my children heard….
A Busy Time of Year!
Posted December 18, 2017
on:Dear Readers, I hope you all are doing well and having fun in the moment of the holiday happenings.
My son came home from college Friday, so all is right in my world. As a mother of 3 adult children (youngest 17),
I am very aware that we are blessed to have them all around us this holiday season and that may not always be the case.
Saturday was a very full day beginning with my son’s bowling league’s
potluck party where I can get away with letting my silly side come out to play.
Nothing like a gorgeous green sweater to dress up a pair of fun holiday leggings and t-shirt!
-
-
- For the evening activities, I wore the Camden off the shoulder dress from
-
the Amelia James line I sell.
I received so many compliments on my dress and was tickled pink when
-
-
- I kicked butt in the Corn-hole game and got it in at the longest shot and won $60.
-
- My children offered to take my money and were in awe when I told them I had pockets in my dress.
- My oldest was working ,but the rest all made sure to attend to support
- their father who received salesman of the year for the second year in a row.
-
Just for fun and in case it helps someone else….
I bought these great boxes from Amazon to have a better way to store
my scarves without taking up two dresser drawers.
They are stacked nicely right next to my dresser and a fabulous solution.
Dear Readers, Wishing everyone a great week and hope if you celebrate
Christmas that despite the hustle and bustle you
laugh and have joy in the process and don’t stress yourself out.
I also hope in the spirit of the season you help someone less fortunate,
My family is going to spend one day this week shopping with my single my Mom,
non-driving friend to drive and shop for her daughter and keep her distracted so
the joy of surprises is in tact. We have done this every year for the past 11 years and it has
become part of our tradition. Prior to this we sponsored an Angel Tree child and some years still do that.
Does your family have a giving tradition this season, Comment and let me know?

Today, I was suppose to go to my Weight Watcher meeting and had this outfit all planned out.
Getting enough sleep reigns supreme in my life, so I opted to go back to bed and get some much
needed rest, as too many nights in a row without had taken it’s toll.
Here is the outfit I had ready for the day.
When I put it on and looked in the mirror , I instantly thought
“Oh , there I am! ”
It became glaringly obvious to me that I have not been myself
these last 6 months and even my style choices were exhibiting that.
The awesome vest adds just the right wonderful element of texture to the tone on tone look.
It is by Indigo Thread, a very boho company I adore.
Here is the link to my vest which is limited to one color now and Here is all the vests they offer now.
My turtle necklace was handmade by sister and is much loved and cherished.
My saddle bag style cross-body purse is by Naturalizer and sold out.
This will probably be last purse purchased for a while as I am pretty satisfied with what I have.
I did recently throw away my beautiful green leather one and told my kids and husband that they should put in on my
birthday wish list as it was the first purse I bought myself after years of using diaper bags and sadly was beyond repair.
I love how my hair color bookends the purse shade.
One last note , if you haven’t tried block heeled shoes yet,
I highly recommend it as these are so comfortable to walk in.
Alas they too are Naturalizers and sold out because I always buy off season on clearance.
Gratitude
I am grateful that I took care of me today and skipped my WW meeting because nothing replaces the need for sleep. As for my WW journey so far,
it has been a slow first month with just over 3lbs lost, but I have managed to use my Simply Fit board to lose 3 inches from the 7 I gained in my stomach from menopause!
I am grateful that my husband too got to catch up on sleep and didn’t have to go to work until 2:30pm today!
I am grateful that my kids are so supportive of each other and truly care deeply.
I am grateful that our allergy laden Lhasa Apso is currently at the vet with two of my adult kids.
Nina Proudman Inspiration Outfit

I recently watched the series Offsprings on Netflix
and fell absolutely in love with the main
character “Nina Proudman’s” Style.
She rocks a Boho Chic look in every show and each time
I started a new episode I was as attracted to the plot as
I was to seeing what she wore next.
I liked this look which consists of fairly common elements : a fabulous tunic
over a pair of jeans , tucked into cognac heeled boots.
With her Aussie weather , there are never any truly winter outfits.
I however happen to posses elements to create a similar outfit, so I felt inspired to blog it.
I opted not to do skinny jeans and tuck in boots for today , as quite frankly I have
gained weight and the longer bell bottoms with just a cognac boot peeking out is
more figure flattering to counter the weight gain and my petite height.
I actually hate that my sister’s passing resulted in weight gain and thought about hiding out…
I am a strong woman who values self care and finding tools to motivate myself.
What better tool than to publicly humiliate myself by posting pictures of my weight gain???
Don’t worry readers, I didn’t mean that seriously, but I do think seeing myself in photos will be great
motivation to stay on the right track with eating and exercise.
It was so much fun to find something to get me out of my funk and back to blogging
outfit posts , I already have another Nina Proudman Inspiration or two in mind…
Tomorrow my Steelers are in the play offs against my husband’s Patriots, so
I will definitely be choosing a look to support the black and gold team of my parents beloved state.
Here is another ” Nina Proudman” version of a tunic over jeans with boots,
This green is very appealing, but I am not running out to buy anything right now.
I do have a a teal one that would make a good substitute.
It doesn’t matter what color you choose, any embroidered tunic would work.
This length from Old Navy would be good for petite
who wants to wear the skinny pants tucked into boots.
Another option from Macy’s
A printed version instead of embroidered would work too.
I traditionally think of these type of shirts for Spring/Summer ,
but love the idea of increasing their use
and versatility with layering.
I have to say I don’t think I’d ever have chosen
to wear my mint leather over this tunic without the Inspiration.
Dear Readers, Hoping you are having a great weekend!
Love your comments and they help to keep my motivation up to blog
during this crazy mourning of my sister who is gone too soon…
Honoring my Scottish Heritage

My Mother’s maiden name was Campbell and she was so
proud of her Scottish Heritage, in fact my youngest
brother carries the name Scott to honor her pride.
It was so fitting when she got strong enough after her heart attack to
take her life long dream trip to Scotland that my brother accompanied her.
Linking up with Classy Yet Trendy today
My mother instilled the Campbell plaid love to me when I was young.
I loved the kilt skirt complete with the gold pin I had as a child in this plaid.
It meant a lot for me as a child knowing it was a part of my heritage.
Can you believe I found this poncho when I was at AC Moore looking at craft stuff with my daughter.
It was just $14.99, so even though I didn’t need another poncho I couldn’t help myself.
Once again I am wearing the Halston lariat necklace (sold out) , it’s truly becoming a workhorse .
The green necklace is by Passage to Israel , found HERE .
I need to do a better job of getting my hair away from ears.
I bought these from TJ maxx last year in both green and purple and have worn both a lot!
This was the beginning of me improving my earring collection,
something I neglected as I wore gold and silver hoops only for the longest time.
My jeans are by Diane Gilman and are patched with silver sequins ,
are alas sold out,
It took me a long time to warm up to this type of “damaged” jeans ,
but this season the patched version came onto the scene making it more
comfortable for my style.
In this photo you can see the black and white plaid,
which I can reverse this to and it will have a tiny bit of this blackwatch plaid
just around the neckline. I will be giving it a try at some point.
I love these blue boots I bought two years ago when in Ireland,
they are perfect for adding to skinny jeans like this.
Dear Readers, this darn weather gave me a sever migraine on Monday,
leaving me with residual light sensitivity and nausea all day.
Apparently this was not just happening to me as a few Facebook friends had the same.
Gratitude
I am grateful that despite the residual side effects that I was pain free and the migraine was gone.
I am grateful that getting a new charger fixed my son’s laptop issue.
I am grateful that my daughter and son did a grocery store run for me today, as I wasn’t up for it.
I am grateful that I had the determination to fix spaghetti squash with bacon, Parmesan and mushrooms for dinner.
I am grateful for Fall weather arriving and the chance to start wearing some new items .

Today, I thought I would put together a look
featuring new green pieces I added for the Season.
Unfortunately, this is the only picture I liked from the set.
This blogging when I am very unhappy with my weight is going to be tough!
It is what it is and I am soldiering on as I use the
17 Day Diet, Pilates, Yoga and and walking to
melt that weight away .
Wedges and Kimono are from Jane.com and my purse is thrifted.
My cropped pants are Petites from Liz Claiborne NY via QVC
Gratitude
I am grateful for a reprieve from the rain.
I am grateful for an afternoon of bowling with my two youngest. .
I am grateful that my oldest took me up on my invitation to come for dinner and was there when we came home from our bowling and grocery shopping.
I am grateful that my three boys spent the evening playing card games, which my oldest brought with him. ( this is something my oldest has done a few times and is a fabulous way for sibling brothers ages, 16,20 and 29 to connect)
I am grateful for my Facebook friend who is such an inspiration in her 60’s doing Beach Body workouts for posting a shout out that she’d done her workout with no excuses and challenging others to do the same.
I am grateful that on the beginning of day 4 , (today, Weds) I stepped on the scale and saw a 3 pound weight loss!
Mother Knows Best…

My day began with a trip to the hair salon for a cut and
I was so happy as the last week or so every picture I took my hair was driving me nuts…
Here is my hair just a few days ago, on yet another windy day….
See why I said yet another windy day, lol…
The first thing I noticed after looking in the mirror after the haircut was the
wisdom of my dear mother who at age 13 had decided that I should get my hair cut short,
as she said it would highlight my cheekbones.
Of course at 13 it devastated me, but looking back at the photos of that time I always noticed she was right!
Marbled shirts like the green one I am wearing here seem to be big for this season.
I found mine on Jane. com and it’s actually a long asymetrical hemmed tunic, which
I tied off the to side as that longer lenght on my petite height works only when I wear heels.
I was itching to wear my BEE Happy flats again….
Not sure about the bright yellow purse here , but black seemed to drab and my green one
is messed up so I opted for a pop of color instead.
My Bee Happy shoes by C. Wonder are currently sold out , but I heard they will be getting them back in at some point.
Apparently , the plan is to make a new loafer design each month and for April they’ve rolled out a blue pair with leather elephants on them, You can find it here...
This was an outfit I wore over the weekend to break out my new Ann Taylor anchor print pants,
which seem to be sold out now…
Dear Readers, I am happy to report that I’ve lost 4lbs on my first week of sticking to a plan. In fact the black pants I wore today fit me much better than they had last time I wore them and that gave me a spring in my step all day! Pressing forward to see how much I can lose before my daughter’s graduation at the end of May…
Gratitude
I am grateful for wonderful phone conversations with my dear friend as we haven’t done that in awhile..
I am grateful that my husband realized the green bananas he picked up last night weren’t going to ripe enough for my Tuesday morning breakfast and tonight grabbed me a small bunch of organic ones that were much better than all the other ones in the store.
I am grateful to a dear friend who picked me up after my haircut today.
I am grateful for the laughter and fun of using my son’s Iphone to video chat with my daughter on her commute home and see the 6 inches of snow she had to get through…
I am grateful for a Beautfiul , Sunny Day!
I am grateful for 4 days free of sinus issues, February and March were pretty tough!

Can You Believe It’s February?
Is it just me or did January fly by?
Sunday’s color for the style challenge was Purple…
It was a warm 68 degree day!
I added the thrifted leopard vest for a little pattern and
to bookend the grey boots..
I am not sure I love the grey boots , but couldn’t come up with another option.
The color for my fashion challenge was Blue for Saturday…
I’ve had this thrifted vest for awhile and hadn’t worn it yet.
DH wasn’t fond of the vest, but I am not giving up on it as I rather like it…
If I do tire of it, I have a dear friend I pass the thrifted vests onto and she has quite a collection now.
I told her recently that before long her almost ten year old daughter would be able to share them, lol!
I had a fun dinner with my friend and her daughter in their new home on Saturday night.
Once I added the bright vest, I couldn’t help myself,
I thought the equally bright fuschia bag had to come out to play.
I haven’t worn a lot of dresses recently and need to correct that as,
this look was very much me and I walked and felt amazingly myself!
Self Care
I made the decision to go back to Weight Watchers and will attend my first meeting Friday.
Knowing that is coming up, is motivating me to stay on track this week and I am making great choices!
Who knows perhaps, I’ll succeed in losing two lbs this week!
Gratitude
I am grateful for a great weekend spending time with my dear friend and Sunday with my guys.
I am grateful for sunshine and warm days, good for my spirit!
I am grateful for a fun potential future event (will have to wait to say what, lol)
I am grateful to my very hard working husband!
I am grateful for phone calls from my two kids away at college over the weekend!

I’ve been struggling to get this darn 15lb weight gain off…
I told DH Thursday night that I thought I might want to go back to Weight Watchers.
He immediately said , that I should.
Lo and Behold this morning, my friend I met at WW signed back up today!
I look at this photo and all I see is the “middle age spread”
With my daughter’s graduation with her Master’s Degree coming up in May,
I don’t want to look at photos and see this..
This graduation will be very emotional for me, as I told my daughter her entire life about how my mother went to college with me and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a Master’s Degree.
This graduation is my mother’s legacy!
I type this with tears , wishing I could see the look in her eye and give her credit for this!
DH told me he loves this sweater today!
I think that’s because after spending 3 weeks in Ireland we will forever associate this color
to that wonderful time.
I however have always associated it with my father , as it was his favorite color and much like
when I wear purple, I feel his love and hugs!
When you lose those you love and especially like my father when I was just 13,
you hold on with tiny little threads and look for litle ways to tie yourself to their memory.
Last time I wore this swearer with a solid black top.
I think with a statement sweater like this a colum of color or non busy print works best.
I think for the next time I wear this I want to do a column of creme with a turtle neck and jeans.
Alas , I can’t point you in the direction of this lovely sweater as it is solf out…
Self Care
I mentioned one way I practiced self care today, which was making the decision to go back to WW.
I’d say the other way was with my lunch, something a little different for me…
Cucumbers with Lt Italian dressing , pumpkin seeds-
(these have 10 g protein and only 35mg sodium) and a cheese stick.
It’s a wonderful combination that isn’t quickly eatean , but required slow going and I liked that.
Gratitude
I am grateful for the upcomig graduation and knowing I will feel my mother’s prescence.
I am grateful for a great phone call from my daughter after she had gone quiet for a few days studying for her Comprehensive Exam which determines whether she graduates. She was relaxed and confident that it went well.
I am grateful that my daughter also has scored an interview with Boston College Phd program as it will be a great expereince and she really wants to stay and explore Boston more.
I am grateful that my dear friend asked my opinion on some fashion purchases and that I was of help.
I am grateful that a very dear friend and I are going to have dinner tomorrow night and hang out so I can see her house and catch up as she has been very busy lately and I’ve missed her terribly…
For the Love of Wool…

I showed a thrifted wool sweater in my last post.
Living where it hovers above freezing with occassional times of just below that,
doesn’t call for owning much wool clothing.
For days like this one, my Old Navy Wool Cocoon Coat found HERE was perfect!
It really is a chic piece, very surprisng from Old Navy.
I’ve worn it once before with all black underneath, this time the added striped turtleneck works just as well.
I think I could just sub out for my tan Ann Taylor jeans for another option.
Playing off the energy level of my delighted teen homeschooler for a snow day,
I matched his level of joy and threw my hands in the air and did a spin around….
He took pictures of my entire antics, lol!
I traded out my fringe boots for my thrifted Naotak boots and my Old Navy jacket, for my
Eddie Bauer for a quick walk to the store to extend our outdoor adventure, which my son appreciated.
We didn’t really get any accumulation, so that was about the extent of our fun, except for the snowball he made, photograhed and texted to his brother…
Here is my third wool piece, my Aran Poncho bought on last years Ireland trip.
I paired it with a Old Navy pants and loved how the this outfit pulled together with
pattern mixing from the scarf.
I love having these colder temperatures and getting to bring out some beloved winter pieces.
I will always love this poncho and the memories of my trip to Ireland !
My daughter ventured to the Primark store in Boston today , which we went to while in Ireland
and I was actually jealous when she told me that all the upper management was in from Ireland going
through the store making recommendations for improvements.
She loved hearing their irish accents and that was what caused my jealously, lol
Dear Readers, Do you have any coveted pieces you love to wear during the winter season?
If so please share, I adore reading your comments!
Self Care
Today in self care, I brought out the exercize trampoline that had been put away for the holidays
and had fun jumping on it followed by strength training.
Gratitude
I am grateful for the fun and delight my son had today with our little bit of snow.
I am grateful for the fun group texting we have going among my husband, myself and all our children.
I am grateful for the daily phone calls I’ve had this week with my daughter as she rides the bus home from her internship.
I am grateful for how snow always conjures up memories of my dear mother who would always sit at her desk on snow days when I was a child and write letters to family and friends ,as she was homesick for Pittsburgh.
