I showed a thrifted wool sweater in my last post.
Living where it hovers above freezing with occassional times of just below that,
doesn’t call for owning much wool clothing.
For days like this one, my Old Navy Wool Cocoon Coat found HERE was perfect!
It really is a chic piece, very surprisng from Old Navy.
I’ve worn it once before with all black underneath, this time the added striped turtleneck works just as well.
I think I could just sub out for my tan Ann Taylor jeans for another option.
Playing off the energy level of my delighted teen homeschooler for a snow day,
I matched his level of joy and threw my hands in the air and did a spin around….
He took pictures of my entire antics, lol!
I traded out my fringe boots for my thrifted Naotak boots and my Old Navy jacket, for my
Eddie Bauer for a quick walk to the store to extend our outdoor adventure, which my son appreciated.
We didn’t really get any accumulation, so that was about the extent of our fun, except for the snowball he made, photograhed and texted to his brother…
Here is my third wool piece, my Aran Poncho bought on last years Ireland trip.
I paired it with a Old Navy pants and loved how the this outfit pulled together with
pattern mixing from the scarf.
I love having these colder temperatures and getting to bring out some beloved winter pieces.
I will always love this poncho and the memories of my trip to Ireland !
My daughter ventured to the Primark store in Boston today , which we went to while in Ireland
and I was actually jealous when she told me that all the upper management was in from Ireland going
through the store making recommendations for improvements.
She loved hearing their irish accents and that was what caused my jealously, lol
Dear Readers, Do you have any coveted pieces you love to wear during the winter season?
If so please share, I adore reading your comments!
Self Care
Today in self care, I brought out the exercize trampoline that had been put away for the holidays
and had fun jumping on it followed by strength training.
Gratitude
I am grateful for the fun and delight my son had today with our little bit of snow.
I am grateful for the fun group texting we have going among my husband, myself and all our children.
I am grateful for the daily phone calls I’ve had this week with my daughter as she rides the bus home from her internship.
I am grateful for how snow always conjures up memories of my dear mother who would always sit at her desk on snow days when I was a child and write letters to family and friends ,as she was homesick for Pittsburgh.
Shades of Purple
Posted January 6, 2016
on:I’ve been so lacking in inspiration these past few weeks in styling outfits,
but this one feels like a success!
I added this fabulous Gili Leather jacket over the Summer as my one big splurge.
I broke my no self imposed no buying to acquire these lavender cords from Loft
as they were 70 % off , making them less than $12.
My Liz Claiborne NY blouse via qvc can be found here .
I adore this line by QVC and here is a link to other tops in this line.
The scarf was again to protect myself from the winter temperatures, and I think fit in very nicely.
It just hit me that this entire outfit is pieces I bought online new for the season.
The purse is still available in this purple shade, but also comes in several other colors , here
I am very happy that I added these pieces to my wardrobe as I love all shades of purple.
Today in Self Care Today
I added a greens powder found here to my morning smoothie . My husband has been taking for a few months now, I dofind this a bit expensive and am researching other options for when we run out.
I also took a short walk today and changed into walking shoes.
If any of my Dear Readers likes the idea of my new Self Care notes, please share one thing you did today for your own Self Care! I’d love to hear from you !
Gratitude
I am grateful for starting my blog three years ago and for how much writing these gratitudes daily have improved my state of happiness.
I am grateful for my son’s homeschool bowling group and chatting with my favorite parents.
I am grateful that my son willingly cooperated in going to the additional bowling clinic later this afternoon and for how much this boosts his confidence.
I am grateful to the bowling trainer sending home a training tool to help fix an issue with his hand movement that is precenting him in getting his performance ball to curve.
I am grateful for a fun conversation with the homeschooling league coach and the idea to do a fundraiser that will allow them to buy some training tools.
I am grateful for yet another call from my daughter, I could talk to her every day on her walk back to her apartment.
I am grateful for the winter weather and the inspiration to get back to blogging.

I’ve always loved Pink paired with Brown.
Which is why I added the polk a dot tunic and striped sweater
to my style for the season. I’ve always loved Pink paired with Brown.
Of course, I bought them seperately with no intention of pairing them together.
I originally paired this look with a chocolate brown boyfriend sweater, but it was just too much brown.
When I spied this Liz Lange sweater ( sold out) , the outfit went up a notch and gave me that pep in my step!
Of course wearing my Payless Comfort plus pumps helped to put that pep in my step.
I seriously think I may be addicted to this line of pumps as they are the perfect heel height
and so comfortable that I can wear them all day!
I just had to run to my closet and count how many I have and it’s 6 pairs !
Here is what I wore yesterday, it was raining all day and the pictures didn’t come out well.
I am wearing Old Navy Pixie Pants and Chambray top, a Glitterscape sequin navy top
faux shearling vest via Jane.com , navy boots bought in Ireland.
I’ve had my Diane Gilman jeans for awhile and love them.
The line going down the side is actually a zipper detail.
I collect Diane Gilman Jeans , but I won’t run and count those, lol!
Dear Readers, The Black Friday online purchases have started arriving and today,
I got the biggest kick out of the DSW package
Can you believe that even with a 30% off deal on that purchase, that I didn’t even look for shoes for myself!
Yes, I am not tempted to shop!
Gratitude
I am grateful that after waking up at a crazy 5:24 am today, that I was able to go back and take a nap!
I am grateful that the morning rain went away, allowing me to take photos today.
I am grateful for the fun and anticipation that goes along with the holidays .
I am grateful for sappy Hallmark movies to get me in the mood… now if only we find the energy to get the Christmas decorations out of the attic in the next few days…
Burgundy & Navy Color Combo

I absolutely love burgundy and Navy together in outfits.
Lately with these crazy temperatures that are frustrating the daylights out
of this lover of Fall and her boots.
It’s certainly giving me a great opportunity to get some great use of my pumps.
I could wear this outfit type often , with Old Navy Pixie pants , a topper and
a variety of shirt silhouettes to keep it interesting.
As a stay at home Mom, I had settled on lots of jeans in different colors and silhouettes.
This past year I’ve added several pants from Old Navy and am much happier with the variety.
Here is another way I’ve worn Navy and Burgundy in the past.
My sweater is reversible , with the other side being the print you see here.
I could have worn it without the folds and it would have been solid navy,
I like that it can be worn four different ways depending on whether you highlight the reverse side or not.
It’s my first purchase of ATTITUDES BY RENEE found at QVC
It’s $39.95 and comes in three color options, sizes xs to 3x and is made of a poly blend.
My purse is a vintage Aigner one I thrifted and absolutely adore,
my mother was a big Aigner fan and it reminds me of her.
I fully embraced the floppy hat trend that is going strong for the season,
this one is by Rachel Zoe via QVC.
Gratitude
I am grateful the my husband worked in the evening on Weds. and was able to join in for our homeschool bowling day and that my son stayed after with him to get in some extra practice.
I am grateful that there is a bowling league starting in December that will be Sunday evenings that my husband and I will join and it will earn us a fun trip to Atlantic City this summer.
I am grateful that my daughter who is feeling overwhelemed with her internship, her masters homework and projects and applying to PHD programs , called me just for some compassion and Mom love!
I am grateful that my husband’s job is going well and his new boss is appreciative of him. My dear Readers, three weeks ago completely out of the blue he was let go after being the number one salesman on pace to do a million dollars and having had no complaints ever from management and the worst part was they wouldn’t tell him why. We know that it was a move by the toxic consultant who is intimidated that my husband’s strengths are his weaknesses and wanted to get him out of the way before coming in full time in January…. No worries, it ‘s just God moving my dear husband into a better place, but boy was it a punch in the gut for a guy who works so hard!
All about the Neutrals…

On Instagram there is a
Challenge
Today’s look was all about Neutrals.
It gave me a great time to debut a few pieces I bought over the Summer in
preparattion for Fall. Luckily these are two lightweight options that work for
this seasonably confused November temperatures of the 70’s.
Here is the montly challenge if anyone wants to play along or is in need of
outfit inspirations. After all getting dressed each day should be fun!
My sweater is G by Giulana and comes in several colors
At the time I bought this one and a coral one as well.
It’s on Clearance , HERE for 24.95 and comes in several colors.
I love them and would adore another color, but alas I’m not buying now and I cut back to
buying in multiples by limiting myself to only two of each.
My blouse is by Liz Claiborne NY and can be found HERE , it too is on clearance at $24.83
and comes in three different colors. I purchased this neutral one because I thought it could play
nicely with a Steelers football look in addition to wearing it any other time.
Too sunny to see clearly , but I am doing a bit of pattern mixing with my
tiny houndstooth print Payless Comfort Plus heels.
Dear Readers , Confession Time…
I broke my no shopping ban , less than two months in, lol. I absolutely have no regrets!
You see I’ve been wanting a black leather jacket since I lost weight and have been holding out for
the right one, serdiously looking for the past few years, but never seeing one that I had to have ,
enough to justify the cost. That all changed when I had QVC on in the background and an Issaac Mizzrahii,
model came out wearing a quitled cable leather jacket that made me drool…. I mean I couldn’t stop thinking about that
javeket and since it was just on screen for a brief moment and not being presented I didn’t even know it was leather.
I went in search of it and couldn’t help myself when it was on 6 easy pays and real leather…
It came today and is incredible! In fact my teen son said to me,
“I have never seen you so happy over anything, you’be ever bought before! ”
DH didn’t have an appointment until late today and was still in bed,
so I went in to confess my transgression, but like I knew he would,
he was totally supportive and didn’t even flinch at the price.
So want to see my coveted reward for my initial weight loss?
Check it out HERE, It’s actually called DARK CHARCOAL
Isaac also makes a similar version that is Paisley Quitled found HERE
Unfortunately the easy pay option on these is not currently available.

I loved this outfit in the mirror….
Upon seing the photos, I wonder if the pattern mixing between
the scarf and these Old Navy tropical print pants is a little too much?
So My Dear Readers I thought I’d let you weigh in
I bought these Old Navy Ankle pants to wear in the Fall with this new orange faux leather.
This jacket is by Kate & Mallory and has zip off sleeves that allow it to become a vest.
But when I bought it I got a black one too , so I can actually add the black sleeves to this as well.
I Should have taken photos to show you, but alas it was raining and this little lady wasn’t feeling her best today.
It comes in 7 colors, sizes xs to 3x and is $41.36 and is available on 6 no interest value pays of $6.89
The reason I am questioning this pattern mixing
is the addition of the teal in the scarf print.
I love pattern mixing and this is the first time I think I like it ,
but wonder if I am kidding myself.
These Not Rated fringe booties from Amazon are going to get so much use, this season.
I can’t wait to wear them with a dress and tights.
My hobo style purse is sold out by Gili via QVC,
but they have some other great options HERE
Dear Readers, Thank you for voting regarding this pattern mixing!
Hope you all have a wonderful HUMP DAY!
Gratitude
I am grateful that my morning headache got better throughout the afternoon.
I am grateful that when the electricity went off, that it came right back on!
I am grateful for the fun laughter we had as my son was in the shower when everything went dark.
I am grateful that we have homeschool bowling to look forward to on Wednesday.
I am grateful that I’ve been sleeping much better.
Tone On Tone Pattern Mixing

One of the things that Alison from Get Your Pretty On,
introduced to her style challengers this season was putting a look together with
Tone On Tone.
There was a sea of blush and burgundy in the malls that matched perfectly with this point.
I missed out on doing that with the challengers as our temperatures just didn’t cooperate
for me to wear a blush chunky sweater, but I loved the idea of tone on tone.
Of course I had to take it up a notch and add in Pattern Mixing.
I felt quite adventurous using my lavender gingham blouse with my leopard spotted jeans.
I had recenlty unpacked some winter jackets and sweaters and couldn’t wait to style
an oldie but goodie in this very soft swing jacket.
I’ve had it for several years and have worn it closed with the obi belt most times.
It was fun to just wear it open for what may just be the first time.
I needed the jacket despite warmer days beacause this was what I wore on homeschool bowling day
in whichI always freeze as the alley is cold.
I don’t think I will ever tire of my Diane Gilman purple leopard jeans.
I certainly have gotten a lot of use from these over the few years I’ve owned them.
One reason I love this brand is that depsite my weight gain, there is enough stretch that
I can still wear these and others by this brand.
Dear Readers, Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
I hope you have some fun things planned to reboot your spirit to dig in and face the dreaded Monday….
Tonight we are heading out to a bowling birthday party,Saturday mornings are my son’s bowling league, not sure Saturday night plans as of yet,
but Sunday is of course Football!
Thanks for Stopping By , I hope you are inspired to try your own Tone On Tone version.
Some ideas I’d like to try
Mint and Forest Green
Tan and Chocolate Brown
Peach and Orange
Grey and Black
Powder Blue with Navy
Any of these Tone on Tone Ideas Appealling to You?
Bloggers love to know someone is reading their content,
so comments are always apprecitated and make my day!
Gratitude
I am grateful for a fun phone conversation with my daughter where we were coming up with healthy options for her to take for lunches and to eat for breakfast. Graduate school and her internship are keeping her busy and her brain is fried, so it was a fun conversation reminding her of things she has used in the past with success.
I am grateful for the witnesses in our lives who are outraged when someone treats you poorly. I love being that outrage for others and appreciate greatly when I receive the same… Sometimes we just need a witness to our pain.
I am grateful to my hardworking husband who has a wonderful work eithic , which allows me to be home with our youngest in this homeschooling venture that just fell into our lives.
I am grateful that I have begun Christmas shopping and have some of the big presents set already, as the last minute rush is not my style.
I would like to End today with a prayer reauest for this strongest Hurricane Patricia in the headlines, that is heading to Mexico, for the safety of residents.

GET YOUR PRETTY ON FALl CHALLENGE
Linking Up with Visible Monday with other Fabulous Bloggers.
With our weather not reaching true Fall temperatures ,
I managed with what I could to create this look subsituting a more vibrant pink sleeveless blouse.
I’ve had burgundy skinny cords for a few seasons, but these new Old Navy Joggers have been waiting to be debuted.
I am also debuting my new
Burgundy Floppy Hat, by Rachel Zoe via Qvc.
If you don’t already have Burgundy in your wardrobe,
I highly recommend you add at least one item for this season.
My favorite looks with the jogger style pants is to take them up a notch
and pair them with blazers and pumps.
In this look, I opted for grey plaid pumps and a seersucker grey striped jacket,
both are pieces I thrifted from Goodwill.
Want Some More Burgundy Inspiration
Dear Readers , it’s so hard to have a wonderful weekend, when your heart is heavy due to the shooting in Oregon. College students of all ages , some starting of fresh out of high school, others after divorce or raising families, all wanting an education and a better future, targeted by a sick person out for destruction and chaos.
I pray for the families and friends of those whose lives were so brutally cut short, for those who survived and may well suffer PTSD and for all the students in every college who now feel vulnerable.
I am going to forego my Gratitude Section of my blog today and ask in it’s place that you each say a prayer.
I am sure so many of us are already doing so, but the collective of us all is important , so I ask anyway.
Singing in the Rain

What To Do With Yet , Another Day of Rain?
Well , This Lady Turned on Pandora for Some Music to
Accompany her Day In , Doing Housework and Packing Away My Sandals.
But doing Housework, Doesn’t Mean I stayed in PJ’s all Day…
After all getting dressed is just for me, to walk taller and keep my mood up ,
as a homeschooling mom, stuck inside with a teenager.
It was a nice cooler day and once the rain died down to a slow drizzle,
I opened the windows and doors for a fabulous cooling breeze!
I styled this look with my inherited boots from my dear daughter (24) ,
She bought herself a great pair complete with wedges and a bow on the back.
I decide this outfit needed a spark of red to brighten my mood.
You can see a peek of my bracelet in this shot.
Here’s a close-up of my red tassel necklace that I bought a few years ago
from Burlington Coat Factory to dress up a Christmas look.
Nice to have it to wear with casual looks as well.
This outfit has just the right amount of itnerest beyond red accessories.
The pattern mixing of the polk a dot pants and the window pane plaid boots is just right.
And lets’s not forget the fun texture of the lace bottom sweater, which I bought from Just Fab at the end of Winter clearance sales in preparation for this season.
I am so happy with this trend of adding sheer or lace bottoms to tunic sweaters for
an extra touch of feminity.
I think when wearing the not so flattering rain boots, that the lace beautifully works to create balance.
Dear Readers, Wishing you a fabulous weekend!
Thanks for Stopping By, Comments Appreciated,
Cause some days like these rainy grey ones,
this blogger needs a boost!
Gratitude
I am grateful that Hurrican Joacquin is not going to hit us as was originally predicted.
I am grateful for a wonderful break through with getting my son to begin writing assignments for this highly intensive writing year I have planned to take him from zero confidence due to schoolng damage to confident in knowing he can conquer this just as easliy as he did the reading.
I am grateful for finally having a currency to use with my son, as in previous years, if he didn’t want to do it, taking anything away didn’t matter at all… Thank goodness for Xbox friendships and Destiny!
I am grateful for the wonderful cool temps today and the breeze from my open windows.
I am grateful for a conversation with a friend that made me proud of my relationship with my mother and how much apart of each other’s lives we remained until her final day. If you are lucky to still have a parent alive, be mindful that loneliness among the elderly causes depression and a phone call or visit is a life line.
I am grateful for music that is always available to cheer me up and keep me moving!

Friday, I continued my week of Dresses and skirts
with a fun print skirt and graphic t-shirt.
I’ve had this skirt for awhile now and love it.
I recently read a post from You Look Fab stylist, Angie, that 5 years is about the
turnover for items in her closet with some key pieces exempt from that.
Skirts are definitely around for longer in my wardrobe….
My Gap , “Lovely Day” shirt can be found here.
Clark Wedges via 6pm.com can be found here
If you wear a size smaller than 8, QVC has this option
This was Sunday’s casual look of the day for grocery shopping.
I realized today, that I’ve not been wearing as many tank tops as I have in the past summers.
I think I’ve added a few tops like this one from Jane.com this season that I am gravitating towards more.
I even went for a more casual look with my hair and sprayed it with beach wave spray.
I chose to pair the look with my Just Fab pink backpack style bag .
I love pulling purse colors out of the scarves.
I am excited for Fall when I see this scarf as it is begging to be paired with my new mint moto jacket!
I usually don’t wear scarves in Summer, as our heat and humidity make it unbearable.
We are having a much milder Summer, which is really messing with everyone’s sinuses…
Even my husband who never has issues is complaining and taking meds.
Gratitude
I am grateful for some quiet down time this weekend.
I am grateful for the fun texts and phone calls from my son who went back to college, as he delights in his first apartment and cooking in his own kitchen.
I am grateful that I was able to help set up his kitchen and find the space for him to have a spice drawer similar to the one at home that he’s come to love and appreciate.
I am grateful for the simple things of Summer, like hamburgers on the grill and DH for cooking Sunday dinner…
