If you are a Regular Reader of My Blog,
You know my love of Ponchos….
I had all solid colored ones, until this Season,
because I found a striped version.
My Poncho is by Liz Lange via HSN and comes in three colors.
It’s on clearance for $34.95 in regular and plus sizes and can be worn two ways
as there are buttons on my shoulder in this photo, that can be turned to go down the center.
Just a reminder that I make no profit from my blog in showing you items I love.
I doubled up a Charming Charlie’s pink necklace with a Jane
pink tassel necklace for a little more impact.
My Jeans are again Diane Gilman from a few years ago.
I pulled the pink accessories out of the print of my Aerosoles Wedges.
I’ve had these wedges in black with floral print in red, blue and green for a few years ,
so added this print as a new option.
They also come in a few solid color options.
Dear Readers, Our temperatures switched from the high 80’s to the low 70’s today.
I hope that means we are past the worst of the heat and humidity.
Hoping you are getting a glimpse of Fall?
If you are in warmer temps, are you like me and pretending it’s Fall by wearing more pants and darker shades,
or are you more patient and wearing your summer clothes?
Gratitude
I am grateful I fell back asleep after an initial early wake up.
I am grateful that my son is doing a reasonably good job homeschooling, despite his brother being home on Fall break.
I am grateful that my son did chores today without my having to ask twice.
I am grateful my son home from college helped clean the kitchen , giving me one day off…
I am grateful for a phone call from my daughter as we plan all her time off and potential trips home.
Playing with My New Air Fryer

I have NEVER fried food for my family….
I’ve always baked things like fries or chicken….
That is until I was watching Evine Live and saw this:
Cook’s Companion Air Fryer found HERE
It arrived today (Weds) and I can not stop trying it out.
We first tried Popcorn chicken and french fries for my son’s lunch…
Oh my goodness, it was incredible , real crispy fries and chicken out of MY KITCHEN
But wait there is MORE , THIS BABY: Toasts, Bakes, Frys , Steams. Grills and Stir Frys.
I put a slice of bread in to try toasting and after biting into ran to my son and made him take a bite, then to my husband who had just finished brushing his teeth and insisted he try a bite…
Yes I got that excited over perfectly toasted bread , like I get in a restaurant!
I wasn’t done…
I had leftover wings from delivery last night…
I heated them on Fry for just half the time recommended as they were already cooked, but I wanted to reheat.
It was fabulous, still like fried wings not like reheated in the microwave.
That turned out so well, I Baked a slice of leftover pizza , but reduced the temp to 275 and again the time to just 4 min…
and it again was so much better than a microwave….
I may just have replaced my toaster, microwave, steamer and toaster oven in additon to gaining the ability to
have Fried foods without the unhealthy dunking in oils..
My son wants to try churros to surprise his brother when he comes home…so that may be tomorrow’s project!
And Now for my Outfit…
I guess if one outfit featuring a shocking pink isn’t enough,
I went for another version the following day, lol…
I was nicknamed, “Pinky” in high school by a guy who noticed
I wore shades of pink and purple a lot…
I love this thrifted poncho and was feeling boho for the day, so
I played off that even more by the addition of a head band and hoop
earrings… I love the gypsy feeling of that.
This may be to matchy-matchy for some bloggers, but I love outfits featuring
just two rich colors like this.
Gratitude
I am grateful to my daughter’s boyfriend for stopping by to pick up a big suitcase full of my daughter’s kitchen items to fly with him as he goes to visit her, saving us the great expense of shipping them.. (we already spent $40 shipping half the items)
I am grateful to my husband who was getting ready for work when I was going nuts over my new kitchen appliance and coming home and saying that he noticed he wasn’t as enthusiastic at my wonderment as he wished he’d been. He came home and tried several items in it himself just to share again with me…
I am grateful that my birthday is fast approaching as this missing my mom thing and tearing up for the last few weeks is beginning to wear on me and I know after my b’day it will go away. It’s surprising me how hard her missing this milestone has been these last weeks. Yep, had to stop and wipe the tears just typing that…
I am grateful for the support of both my husband and son today when I was trying on dresses to find something for my birthday dinner outfit… Not easy when I didn’t lose this darn 15lbs…
Tea for Two

Yesterday, After taking a package to mail off to our daughter at graduate school in Boston,
My husband surprised me with a stop in a wonderful tea shop,
I haven’t worn my soft jogger pants as much this season I did last year.
DH said he loved them with my Clark’s wedges much better than the flats I wore them
with last season…
Quintin’s Tea was a delightful place and we had so much fun smelling all the loose leaf
varieties. We both chose a flavor and enjoyed a cup in the quaint tea room.
I ended up buying a Harney & Son’s tin of Birthday Tea,
which we plan to enjoy on our birthday’s which are just a week apart.
You can see their website here, but if in the Virginia Beach area , you should stop in just for the experience.
It was very fun way to spend a lazy summer afternoon.
I know we will do so again very soon, as I make plans to create a tea and coffee bar .
My very sentimental husband took a sharpie and wrote the date on the bottom of the tea tin,
to commemorate the event.
I love this shocking pink shade of my Isaac Mizrahi peplum top
Dear Readers, I am a day behind because my darn modem was messing up last night. After hitting it a few times, my son got it back to working again today, lol. He saved us from going out to buy a new one today….
And now onto my thoughts for this very sad day….
Here in Virginia a gunman shot a reporter and her photographer on live tv
all on behalf of creating a race war and my heart is very heavy.
The country that I love that has a strong history of creating social change via
peaceful protests is in trouble .
I fear greatly that this is how groups like ISIS are formed by those wanting destruction.
I pray that some strong leaders come forth to lead in a positive manner to honor
the legacy of Martin Luther King.
I don’t get political on my blog, but just wanted to put my prayer for this country out there.
Gratitude
I am grateful to my DH for investigating and finding a tea shop right in my own neighborhood and surprising me with a fun afternoon.
I am grateful that my oldest stopped by today for a chat, as he is very busy with school and work.
I am grateful that my son cooperated and got started back on finishing his Geometry class.
I am grateful for a fun chat with my daughter and her calling to share her new adventure internship counseling at a brand new charter school.
I am grateful for the Uber driver who worked with my DD when she requested a ride today, after missing her bus, in the rain and not even knowing where she was to direct the driver (apparently she had to walk away from the bus station due to all the NO STANDING signs to a nearby parking lot)
Weekend Casual

Friday, I continued my week of Dresses and skirts
with a fun print skirt and graphic t-shirt.
I’ve had this skirt for awhile now and love it.
I recently read a post from You Look Fab stylist, Angie, that 5 years is about the
turnover for items in her closet with some key pieces exempt from that.
Skirts are definitely around for longer in my wardrobe….
My Gap , “Lovely Day” shirt can be found here.
Clark Wedges via 6pm.com can be found here
If you wear a size smaller than 8, QVC has this option
This was Sunday’s casual look of the day for grocery shopping.
I realized today, that I’ve not been wearing as many tank tops as I have in the past summers.
I think I’ve added a few tops like this one from Jane.com this season that I am gravitating towards more.
I even went for a more casual look with my hair and sprayed it with beach wave spray.
I chose to pair the look with my Just Fab pink backpack style bag .
I love pulling purse colors out of the scarves.
I am excited for Fall when I see this scarf as it is begging to be paired with my new mint moto jacket!
I usually don’t wear scarves in Summer, as our heat and humidity make it unbearable.
We are having a much milder Summer, which is really messing with everyone’s sinuses…
Even my husband who never has issues is complaining and taking meds.
Gratitude
I am grateful for some quiet down time this weekend.
I am grateful for the fun texts and phone calls from my son who went back to college, as he delights in his first apartment and cooking in his own kitchen.
I am grateful that I was able to help set up his kitchen and find the space for him to have a spice drawer similar to the one at home that he’s come to love and appreciate.
I am grateful for the simple things of Summer, like hamburgers on the grill and DH for cooking Sunday dinner…

I have this shrug in 3 colors and I’ve had them for several years…
I never tire of them…
Since I love prints so much, wearing two solid pieces together often feels like it’s missing something.
This wonderful shrug solves the problem because it adds in the element of texture.
Slinky Brand via HSN is where I got them and while this bright version and style isn’t currently available,
they have a version in pastels you can find Here and a lace option Here
I even kept the necklace the same pink color to add another element of texture.
I bought this one from Steinmart years ago and highly recommend
that store for great jewelry at decent prices.
Due to this crazy early heat this year, I’ve found myself turning to the wonders of
linen bottoms.
These are from Jane.com , Old Navy and Chadwick’s as well.
Dear Readers, What Items are you loving for the season?
Gratitude
I am grateful that melatonin has given me two decent nights rest. Last night we had crazy storms and I didn’t fall asleep until after 4 am.. but I slept late, so it all worked out well!
I am grateful for my friend for texting and asking us to join her for an impromptu bowling get together.
I am grateful that today we made plans to get out more, as I had been doing a lot of closet and cabinet purging and not going anywhere much since returning from Vegas… Of course my lack of sleep lead to some of that as well.
I am grateful that plane tickets are purchased and my two boys are heading to Boston for July 4th to visit their sister, as my youngest has been wanting a vacation with them and my daughter’s birthday is July 5th!
Maxi Loving

I swear my favorite article of clothing is a maxi dress or skirt…
It is so funny that a few years back I steered clear of them due to my petite height.
I could live all Summer in them!
This pink one I bought last season on Beyond the Rack which is now Choxi.
I was pleasantly surprise that it was a Cato brand from that site.
I bought this yellow Joan Rivers Jacket from Ebay
as a reaction to her death and have been chomping at the bit
to wear it with this pink, purple , yellow and orange floral maxi.
Not the best photo, but my silly photographer came outside with no shoes
and his feet were burning on the concrete…
I loved how this outfit came together and felt so wonderful in it…
Can a wear a maxi everyday, please?
Gratitude
I am grateful for several phone calls from my daughter who is back in Boston. I miss her terribly!
I am grateful that my youngest opened up to me about how hard it’s been without his XBox (it broke) to communicate with his homeschooling group. He’ll have a new one shortly!
I am grateful for Parents Night out and all the wonderful information on new curriculum ideas.
I am grateful for the wonderful friendships and how caring this group of mother’s are for each other.
I am grateful that we made plans to bowl together soon and booked our next Parent’s Night Out!
My New Favorite Outfit Formula

I am not a big fan of shorts, but I found a way to wear them that I actually feel Great!
The magic formula is a 7 inch length shorts with a peplum top!
Every combination I tried like this I loved, of course the wedge shoes help, too!
Longer shorts and wedges really are best for my petite height , especially with the longer top
With my style descriptors as “Feminine, Colorful, Sassy, Boho and Maximal”
This looks hits them all…I feel the most sassy in skirts and dresses, but these peplum tops
are similar to a dress in feminine flair, which is why I am in love with this silhouette.
My top is Isaac Mizrahi via QVC and comes in several colors… I now own it in green and hot pink too!
I missed my youngest son taking my pics today and settled for my daughter, but she isn’t the perfectionist that he is , as he would have caught my necklaces being off to the side…
The life of a Mom Blogger!
My shorts are from Old Navy found, Here!
I had to settle for basic colors for them as they don’t come in brights, but that’s just fine!
Still taking pics on my phone as my missing camera has not turned up!
Dear Readers. It feels like such a relief to have a way to wear shorts and feel my best self, somethng I’ve been searching for. I do live in a very humid, hot area , so shorts are something I am glad to have in my style in a more comfortable way than in years past. Of course wearing them with Kimonos for my boho side will be on the horizon soon as well..
Do you like shorts or have you given up on them?
Gratitude
I am grateful for my daughter’s help in cleaning out one of the coat closets today, as we continue our whole house purge.
I am grateful that my oldest was here for the entire day, hanging out as he waited for his car repairs to be done.
I am grateful that my husband calls me throughout his work day in between appointments.
I am grateful that my daughter helped my youngest by keeping him on track with his homeschooling today!
I am grateful that my home-schooler started back up today after a few week break when his sibling first came back from college.
I am grateful that as the countdown begins to saying goodbye to my daughter as she heads back to Boston College for Summer school, that she understands how hard that is for me and reassured me that she was coming back for most of August

Yes, I know I can’t help myself..
I love a maxi!
In both a skirt and dress version…
Linking Up today with High Latitude Style
I never get over the humor of how I use to avoid these like the plague,
thinking they were terrible for my petite height!
This is a Cato brand dress I bought from No More Rack and wore a lot last season.
Still liking my new haircut…
I also liked wearing a simple,
much loved sapphire necklace my husband gave me years ago.
I am noticing that there are more ways I haven’t thought to style this maxi.
I will definitely try to pick out the orange, yellow and purple colors with shrugs or jackets .
Dear Readers, today my husband and I met up with a childhood friend of his who came to town with his daughter’s Lacrosse team. In our short time of living in Massachusetts we lived with him for a few months when things weren’t working with my in-laws. We then moved back to Virginia , thank goodness… i know after losing his brother five years ago , that my husband has a huge ache he carries with him and seeing old friends who knew him is healing.
So today, that’s my one Gratitude ,
for my husband to see his friend today and to be meeting him again tonight.
Grey & White Maxi

This is what I wore yesterday for the homeschool bowling ,
now that the parents are done for the season, I can wear whatever I want!
I have to say I loved the pink bag for a pink and purple look…
One thing I know about myself is that although I’ve made such great progress in my style.
and have totally succeeded in pattern matching and trying new silhouettes,
and perfecting a wonderful wardrobe for my lifestyle.
One thing that has held strong with me and seems to be the hardest to break is bringing in
an extra pop of color with shoes or handbags.
That matchy-match gene is strong in me….
I am so excited about finally replacing a white denim jacket.
Since my weight loss it’s been a missing piece for me that I longed to replace.
This cropped version by One World is so right for my petite height
and I am so glad I waited for the right one.
Dear Readers, I bought one item for my upcoming Vegas trip…
I couldn’t help myself!
This is a Joan Rivers from QVC, and I am going to style it
with a plain black dress that converts from a dress to a skirt.
That is going to be my outfit for the Neil Diamond Concert…
I actually loved this jacket in the black version, too..
Gratitude
I am grateful for the fun and anticipation of the Vegas trip and quality time with my husband.
I am grateful for the anticipation that in just two weeks I will have my college kids home!
I am grateful for a wonderful conversation with my best friend, as we haven’t talked much lately…
I am grateful for the fun of the homeschooling group each Wednesday, it truly is a Godsend to a homeschooling mother of a strong willed teenager..
Stripes and Brights…

on:Well for today’s GYPO Style Challenge it was all about
The Striped Dress and a Cardigan.
So many color ways you could make this outfit work.
Since I purchased two of the Liz Claiborne NY dresses this season,
I knew I was going to go for the bright green for this part of the challenge.
Choosing the hot pink Loft sweater I thrifted, brought me back to me youth ,
when I rocked a more preppy version of this color combo from Izod.
Of course Lily Pulitzer is big for this color combo.
I probably could have just sported the white rope belt and forgone the necklace,
but I love this necklace from Steinmart several years ago.
Hey, I resisted being too matchy with my hot pink wedges, lol…
I had this belt as a teen…
This is what I like about the challenge,
to take the basic outfit idea and make it completely my own version.
These were all items I had from my closet, so didn’t buy for the challenge.
Dear Readers, These pictures are clear evidence that I need to do something about my pasty winter legs!!!!
Gratitude
I am grateful that this cloudy day, didn’t dampen my spirit at all today!
I am grateful that planning birthday surprises for my youngest this week, are all turning out just right.
I am grateful for the fun of watching my son at his bowling lesson today in trying to increase his ball speed.
I am grateful for the fun of baking and icing cupcakes to take to the homeschool bowling group tomorrow.
