I loved this look when I saw it on Pinterest ,
as it fits that Ying/Yang concept of opposites
that I love in an outfit.
The unexpected element of adding layers of pearls to such a
casual jean, striped top and jeans outfit takes this outfit
up a notch.
In fact Angie over at YOU LOOK FAB wrote a post about this with her wonderful
spin and detail of each element of the outfit to inspire recreating your own version.
Pardon the picture quality, rain…
It truly was a perfect inspiration for today when my morning began
with accompanying my son to his bowling league.
Layering is a must for that activity, as the alley is always cold.
My Clarks slip-ons were a perfect finish to this look with our warmer
temperatures and to keep the outfit more casual.
I tend to wear heels or wedges a lot, but these slip-ons
have been getting a lot of use.
My two necklaces, both new from two different months
surprises from Jewelbits.
Dear Readers, Thanks for Stopping By
Are you looking as forward to Fall and Winter as I am?
I can’t wait to style a new silhouette of culottes with boots
and wear ponchos and sweaters and let’s not forget
my obsession with boots!
What are you looking forward to wearing this season?
Gratitude
I am grateful for Saturday morning bowling and the chance to get out early to hang out.
I am grateful to my son for indulging me by taking these pictures in which I conceded
and allowed him shelter on the porch, lol
I am grateful for the fun today of talking to one of the women who will be joining us on our cruise next September ,cause we are going to make this a new yearly women’s only trip!
I am grateful for this upcoming holiday season and how I’ve already begun shopping for the family.
I am grateful that I am back to blogging!

on:It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these posts.
Since we had bad weather today and my sinus headache kicked in,
I didn’t get outfit photos today.
I need a goal like that these days!
Any of you my Dear Readers have one you’d like to share?
I am seriously drawing a blank.
I hope all my dear readers has a freind to remind them of this,
if not, then perhaps save this one to remember when needed.
What is the end game for something we are trying to achieve?
This answers that beautifully!
As a mother of 3 sons, I love this ,but also want this for my daughter as well!
It certainly is different being the parent of 3 adult children, I love this stage as I’ve loved
every stage in mothering my foursome!
For new marriages as well as seasoned ones!
Dear Readers, Wishing You Food for Thought and a Wonderful Day!
Today’s Challenge was Pinterest Inspiration
and I had just recently pinned this Jennifer Aniston one.
I adore her style and have quite often admire outfits on Pinterest.
It’s fun to actually put one together, finally…
I’ve had this scarf for a few seasons and love it against the all black background.
If you are regular reader, you may notice I am not much for dressing all over in black.
I quite often love all black looks but don’t feel like they are me, so having the purple scarf was
just enough color to still feel like myself.
My Faux leather moto jacket , can be found here in several colors.
I could have gone with a black purse, but
why would I when I own this fabulous Joy & Iman one?
It comes in several colors, but I think this Purple one is incredible!
One of the easiest ways to bump up a look is in a fabulous handbag and I think
I have more than made up for my past of not carrying a purse.
You see as a mother of four who spread her kids out 4 1/2 years apart,
I carried a diaper bag around for many years and gave up a purse….
My Dear Husband put up with my lipsticks and Id in his pockets
on many a date night back in those days, lol
Self Care
I think taking double dose of sinus meds and making it out to homeschool bowling counts as self care.
I had spent the past several days with headaches and actually am pinching myself that I had relief today…
I also planned our next Parent’s Night Out Event and Let me tell you that is definitely self care as we all need those nights
and have come to look forward to it…
Gratitude
I am beyond grateful that my son got out of his funk today and had a wonderful time bowling today, he even got a better score than he’s had all this season ….
I am grateful that my brother stopped by last night and I got to hug him before he went to coincidentally spend his birthday in Cancun for a work reward trip.
I am grateful for a phone call with my son away at college and that he talked to his younger brother as well.

on:I haven’t done a Pinterst Inspiration Look in Awhile,
Today presented an opportunity when a Facebook Group
decided to do this for today and I happened to have pinned this one and love it!
Of course I have the pieces to do this verbatim, but a funny thing about me
is that I definitely like to beat my own drum and create my own path.
I bought this Joan Rivers Leopard Jacket as my reaction to her passing.
It’s on clearance still, but only available in xxs and xs, I actually wear an xs in this line of jackets.
I am wearing my mothers pin as a necklace and a locket that was my grandmothers,
which holds pictures of her mother and brother (my great grandmother and great uncle)
I noticed that I didn’t have my full smile in any of the photos, I attribute that to the cold temperatures ,
as it was near freezing today and that is cold for my area.
Tonight promises to be even colder with temperatures in the teens and highs near 20 tomorrow!
That rarely happens in my area!
If you look closely at this photo you can see the nice button element in my turtleneck sweater.
I am not big on turtlenecks , but picked this one up one day in early Fall when grocery shopping at Bj’s.
I thought with turtlenecks trending that it would work well to wear with ponchos.
Dear Readers, What do you think ?
have you tried a look with burgundy, black and leopard yet?
If not, I highly recommend it!
Self Care
Today for self care I began adding MCT oil into my morning smoothie again, as I haven’t done so in awhile.
If you haven’t heard of this or are interested in why I chose to add this to my morning smoothies,
Here is a great article that explains it all in great detail!
Gratitude
I am grateful for a wonderful month off and family time together, but also happy to get back to homeschooling.
I am grateful that my son took it to heart when I began a writing program today, as his normal behavior is to stall and not do it at all.
I am grateful for a sense of humor in that young man , who didn’t use the writing prompt I suggested , but looked down the list and found one about writing something that bothered you and used it to write about me! I loved it and will take anything I can get to start fixing this writing issue created by his years in school.
I am grateful for my dearest friend and our texts today, we haven’t seen it other much lately and she actually called herself a lousy friend. I reminded her that our bond is secure and that there is no lousy freind in sight as she has been very busy with drama classes and plays for her daughter as well as moving! Hopefully with football season ending we can begin Sunday Lunches!

When I Saw The Inspiration Photo ,
I just knew I had to do my own version of the look.
The great thing about using Pinterest for Inspiration is
that it’s not about copying the look exactly, It’s about using things
in your wardrobe in ways you might not have thought to do.
Well at least this version is in that category, other times it is more about copying.
If one pair of fringe booties is good, than two is even better, right?
Well at least in girl fashionista world, it is!
You can find my boots on Amazon, HERE
Here’s the inspiration, what appealed to me was the color combination
of grey with tan along with the bonus leopard print.
Of course I used my more casual Old Navy pants(no longer available) for my Mom at home lifestyle.
I also took the liberty of subbing a tan very open weaved sweater.
This my dear readers was the perfect weight for my indoor temperatures
when dealing with these crazy hot flashes.
My sweater can be found at Jolly Chic , HERE
The arms of this sweater are long for my petite height, so if yours are longer no worries!
It was fun to wear something that I wouldn’t have thought to do myself.
Some days a fashionista just needs some outside inspiration.
I really loved changing out the black purse and shoes in the inspiration for
my boots and Dooney purse.
My You Look Fab women taught me that this shade bookends my hair color.
I highly recommend Angie.s site as she is so informative as a stylist herself and has a very active forum of very supportive fashionistas who give honest but kindhearted feedback, should you have questions. Be Sure to check out her site!
Dear Readers, Speaking of YOU LOOK FAB, Style Guru Angie put forth a challenge to start with tomorrow and not waiting for just a holiday party to get festive for the season. She proposed that we could do it for the entire month leading up to Christmas. While I probably won’t do that many looks, I will try for a few here and there.
She specifically said to dress down for your lifestyle or work appropriate looks, but to have extra sparkle or texture , anything with extra pizazz even red lip gloss qualifies.
While Sparkle and touches of Fur are obvious, I instantly thought of velvet, so that’s where I will start.
Stay tuned tomorrow as I embrace the Challenge for the first time…
Gratitude
I am grateful that my homeschooling has been so successful as my reluctant reader picked out a book to read when he was at Bjs and even began reading it in the car on the ride home. This is the first time he’s reading for his own pleasure and not an assignment from me! DH and I are delighted and feeling like we recieved an early Christmas present!
I am grateful for a dear friend and our fun Facebook chats , we do so often and today we had quite fun laughing and imagining oursleves doing something more daring.
I am grateful that my daughter called me when she was feeling like giving up and distraught over applying to PHD programs and that after our conversation and problem solving that she had direction and was empowered.
I am grateful that I will get the chance to hug my daughter tight and see her relax for a few days.
I am grateful that the fever I had this morning broke and that I was feeling well enough to get some housecleaning done.
I am grateful that DH moved the turkey from the freezer to the frig, saving me from lifting that 22lbs. This might just be the first time he’s ever taken it upon himself to do such a thing… unless you count the year my sciatica was acting up and he and the kids did all the dinner prep for the holiday while I sat on a heating pad, lol!
The Color Citron

Dear Readers, Humor me today and ignore my bad hair day
and non vibrant smile, as I was in migraine hell, yesterday.
I can’t believe I actually put a look together, lol
Jogger pants, citron top and cozy aztec print sweater.
Comfy cozy for a day on the couch…
Over the summer I pinned this look and thought, I need a little citron in my wardrobe.
I found my top on a JollyChic, a site that has asian sizing so be careful, I even size up one from my measurements ,
as this top I’m wearing has a white longer layer that I tucked in as it pull tight across my hips.
While I may not have the right citron top, I wanted to feauture the color as it really is versaitle.
It pairs well with Grey, Navy, Cobalt, Olive , Green, White, Brown, and even orange.
I made a Pinterst Board Here for some fun visuals.
This very popular pin was one I saw over the summer too and prompted
me to search out my sweater.
I found mine from OSO CASUALS , HERE
Here’s hoping my migraine is better today, cause this has been going on
for too many days now. It’s more sinus related due to these huge swings in
our temperatures, along with menopausal sleep disturbances.
Gratitude
I am grateful that my son finally went to financial aid and straightened things out, he’s been so busy and they had taken a two week break, so it’s been a long time issue, but over now!
I am grateful to my brother for scoring me the perfect master bathroom vanity for a much needed makeover.
I am grateful that when DH had all day off yesterday, that he was productive and helpful around the house, I now have a lamp next to my make up table, lol!
I am grateful that my husband ended his day with a late appointment and a sale, gotta love time with family and still being successful. This is why he made the career change two years ago!
I am grateful at how responsible my homeschooler is being this year with getting his work done independentally and without my having to nag! Knock on wood , this continues and we are over that hump!
I am grateful for Halmark Channel and the Christmas movies that have been keeping me company these last few days of not feeling so well…
Today, I never made it out of my PJ’s…
I wasn’t feeling well and after homeschooling took a long nap.
I have been saving a lot of Pinterest Ideas for Fall Outfits, so thought I’d share them .
I bought some crossover tops, one is grey and I like this look of all neutrals.
This is the Iman crossover top I bought, which is now on sale for $29.95 and comes in regular and plus sizes in several colors. This crossover is fabulous and does not gape inappropriately allowing you to remain modest…
I’ve had burgundy skinny cords for a few seasons and this color is going strong
again for this Fall. In fact this outfit formula represents a similar version to
the upcoming GYPO Fall Style Challenge, if you are looking to add some items to your style,
this challenge is a great way to do so and find inspiration on how to wear them.
The important thing to note about this outfit is the dark and light shades , which can be done in other color ways as well.
I already have an idea for creating a dark brown jean with tan top outfit.
So many ways to use this formula.
Flares are another big trend for Fall .
Nobody does this style better than my idol Rachel Zoe.
Remember Rachel is a petite, so the tunic is a perfect length
with the cropped jacket for a perfect balance.
With my love of the peplum top, I found this idea of layering it,
something I would like to try.
Sheathing is yet another trend for the season and I have a similar vest.
I liked the idea of layering it over a black and white striped top.
This camel shade plays very well with black.
Source
Another color that is going to be popular for this Fall is Organge
I have a black polk a dot skirt and loved this option ,
expecially because it didn’t immediately scream Halloween, lol !
I fully embrace wearing white year round and this season
I added both a white fur vest and white blazer .
My Rachel Zoe Purchase
My white blazer from Amazon
Dear Readers, Are you among those of us still experiencing summer temperatures?
DH commented that the mother nature isn’t tricked because the leaves are begiinning to fall.
Doesn’t seem right with this heat, but there it is!
What are you looking forward to wearing for Fall?
I love comments which let me know someone reads my little blog, lol!

This time of year as my college children, have gone on their way,
And I turn to Homeschooling my youngest,
My thoughts venture to Fall Fashions despite having to wait until
October to Indulge…
This Season promises to be a very fun one with many silhouette choices ,after a few years of the
Skinny Jean tucked into boots look seems to reign.
With the 70’s trend promising to be strong Flares are back in full force.
Boot cuts are another option if Flares are a little too much for you…
I bought these Diane Gilman ones as they fit my love of Boho style.
They fit me much like the previous ones pictured, down to the ground if I wear heels , as bootcuts and flares should.
The Sporty Chic trend is still going strong with joggers dressed up
with blazers and heels.
Or a more casual version with white sneakers
This version with contrast zippered pockets and stripes offers
a more sporty look. Pairing them with booties is another shoe wear option
that seems to be popular.
Scrunched up to show a little leg and paired with flats is yet another option.
A perfect casual Mom on the Go version with a sweater and Classic Jean Jacket
I love this trend so much, I indulged in this Old Navy version in both the Rich Red and Black
I
I think Culottes have to be the bottom I am most excited by,
as I loved them in my younger years and am happy they’ve come back around.
I think these are to be treated more like a skirt for Fall/Winter, and
liked this Kate & Mallory option in both the grey checked version and black.
Dear Readers, of course the skinny’s are still a very important part of Fall/Winter style to be tucked into booties or boots.
Since Plaid promises to be big again I opted for this Old Navy version.
I must say Old Navy Pixie pants have become a favorite of mine.
These ankle pants will work well with all kinds of shoe and boot choices.
I also added these Old Navy floral pair
Dear Readers, What Bottom silhouettes have you seen for Fall?
What pants are you planning to Add?
Happy Monday! Wishing Everyone a great start to the week,
Thanks for stopping by!
Gratitude
I am grateful for a fabulous weekend at the Toby Keith Concert with my husband and youngest son.
I am grateful for a very relaxing Sunday, catching some sunrays and grilling on the barbecue.
I am grateful for a phone call with my daughter as she moves out old roommates and moves in the new ones for this last year at Boston College for her master’s degree.
I am grateful for my daughters view of the world where she said, “I am winning at Life! ” , because she sold two books on ebay that will cover the cost of her books for the next semester.
I am grateful that after a week of walking on his foot, my son’s sprained ankle is healing nicely.
I am grateful that in just two weeks my shrunken family of 3 will be heading for another fabulous weekend at Massahutten Resort and the anticipation that comes along with impending plans like these that keep us all joyful! ( My Birthday trip)

One of the Trends for Fall is Black and White Pattern Mixed Prints
Since I am not about to run out and find a new piece that is a mixed print,
I got to thinking why not pair together black and white prints already in our closets
for pattern mixing?
Of course I turned to Pinterest and found a few examples to share
This one show cases, stripes, plaid and herringbone prints.
A graphic print sweater with a floral skirt
Polka dots with windowpane print
Polk a Dots and Stripes

Any prints work well and this pop of color with the shoes can be done with any option.
I own quite a few black and white print options Including:
Polka Dots
Stripes
Florals
Hounds-tooth
Zebra
Gingham
Plaid
and Graphic Prints
I look forward to combining them to create interesting looks this Fall/Winter Season.
Dear Readers, Do you like the idea of black and white print pattern mixing?
Feeling Inspired?
I keep picturing options with things in my closet and am happy that this is exactly what I want to create by
Not Shopping for a year , except for Accessories after September 8th, my 50th birthday!
Getting Out of My Style Rut
Posted May 29, 2015
on:I’ve been feeling so uninspired to create outfits lately.
There are several reasons behind that including my weight gain and wonderful bottoms from last year that don’t fit me.
Coming home to the newly done bedroom and bathroom has sparked a strong need for me to clean out all drawers, cabinets and closets, who feels like getting dressed for that! I must say that I am getting dressed as I do go out to the store and even went bowling.
If those two aren’t enough I have two more things going on…
My camera is missing… Don’t ask me what happened during my time in Vegas, but I know everything from my room and closet was moved to other parts of the house for re-carpeting and painting, so a huge chaos for other parts of the house. Somehow my camera has been misplaced. I do however have my new phone with 21mp camera, so not a real excuse.
And the final reason is that my dear son home from his freshman year in college requested a room of his own. He has always happily shared a room with his brother as there was really no other option. With my oldest moving out last year, I had taken over his room as my dressing room… Yep, I am a great mom, cause I readily gave up my dressing room and have been cramming my stuff back into my walk- in closet , dresser and new under the bed drawers.
I am sure this is a temporary thing, so in looking for inspiration I thought I’d share with you.
Alison from Get Your Pretty on is starting a new challenge with the shopping list coming out next week. I hope to shop my closet and think I am in good shape. What’s so great about this is the private Facebook page with all the very supportive, kind hearted women.
Next up for Inspiration is Pinterest of Course
With my Vegas purchase from Charming Charlies of a similar hat, I couldn’t resist this look.
Mine is sold out online, but they have this version.
I don’t have jean shorts, but could use capris or a skirt.
I love the simplicity of a white top with blue bottom and cognac accessories.
A striped top with animal print shoes, what’s not to love?
Since I bought mint pointed toe flats and a navy striped t-shirt dress this season, I could pull this off.
Yet another option for my mint flats. I would do this with my orange boho skirt.
Dear Readers, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Keep your fingers crossed we figure out the electrical problem we are currently having that includes my bedroom and the bathrooms. I’d like to add, no lights in my closet as another bump in the road towards getting inspired, lol!
Gratitude
I am grateful for the Summer Style Challenge to look forward to in the next few weeks.
I am grateful to my daughter who has been by my side during all my purging and closet cleaning.
I am grateful to my husband for putting his Navy background to work and spending late nights replacing electrical outlets.
I am grateful for the home school testing being done and the fantastic results where my son finally achieved a perfect score in vocabulary, something he missed by one question each time. A great self esteem boost.
I am grateful for a Parent’s Night Out dinner for next week to look forward to, as our bowling group is suspended for the Summer.
