I have reached the 6 month mark in the mourning process of my sister ,

and am just now being able to talk about her without crying every time,

still plenty of tears flowing.

I think I am ready to get back into the flow of blogging again, so going to give

it a shot this week and see how it feels .

IMG_7351

My Memorial Day Outfit.

Of course with my love of Kimonos, I had to find one in stars and stripes!

Joan Rivers from Qvc  made this one and I love it.

IMG_7357

My Red espadrille wedges were an addition for the season after

loving my pink and blue ones last year.

These are sold out from TJ Maxx .

I am cringing as I see my weight gain here,

but it is what it is and I am back at Weight Watchers

and on the road to losing it.

IMG_7355

I spent Memorial day at the nail salon

having a pedicure and my nails done because I needed some serious pampering.

We have spent the last few days clearing out our garage

and our attic, literally taking everything out and laying down a rug.

We are moving our Air Hockey table and the basketball set up that folds into a cabinet

out of the house and into the garage and everyone is pitching in and excited.

I have bruises to prove of my hard work ,

but all is well after an hour of chair massage,

during my pedicure and she did an awesome lower leg and foot one too.

Gratitude Journal

I am grateful for getting back to blogging as I have missed it.

I am grateful to the lovely reader at my WW meeting who informed me that she liked my blog and checked often to see if I was back to doing it.  Forgot to get her name!

I am grateful that my children are so enthusiastic about the purging and cleaning up.

I am grateful for this last week with my 21 year old Nicholas who is home from college , but will be heading to Quantico for Officer’s training with the Marines ( to be seen what he chooses after graduation in a year and a half) .

Today is our last above 80 degree day in the forseeable

weather forecast and I am thrilled to have hope for Fall’s Arrival!

What better way to celebrate than to wear Red?

img_4509

I also thought it would be fun to showcase the choker trend .

I’ve previously worn my pearl open choker several times.

But this is a completely different vibe with the thin black rope kind

that you wrap around your neck  a few times.

You could tie it with a bow, but I preferred it like this,

just draping down the top.

Mine is from Jane.com ,but check out these from Amazon

img_4512

My sheer top was bought for this Summer , but as I was changing

my closet over for Fall , I opted to keep my sheer tops out.

I plan to layer them over a long sleeve top or turtleneck

to extend their versatility.

img_4514

The black rope choker trend has a bit of edge to it and I like how it is

a complete opposite juxtaposition to the floral kimono top.

I also think the choice of the white jeans are like the top a feminine element.

To increase the edginess I paired it with black open toed booties,

mine are over two years old and from Payless.

The leather hobo purse from yesterday’s look was

the perfect finishing piece to the edginess I was aim for.

Dear Readers, I heard a suggestion of trying a ribbon around your neck to test your tolerance

for a choker such as this once , since that can be an issue for many women.  Mine is not around

my neck tightly and I can easily put my finger underneath it.

Gratitude

I am grateful for this last beautiful sunny Summer like day.

I am also grateful for the beautiful breeze today that made the temperature more bearable.

I am grateful to my son home from college for stepping in and giving my youngest a break from taking my blog photos.

I am grateful for leftovers and getting a break from cooking and cleaning up afterwards.

I am grateful for the fun we are all having with the new rabbit who came home with my son from college.

Wearing Red Today to Bring Awareness to Heart Health!

DSC_2988-2

I took pictures earlier today, so not as great for the position of the sun…

Wearing my Loft printed pants, a red peplum to with aceessories in black

DSC_3004-2

A colder day of winter after a few days of warmth.

I’ve been wearing my fringe black ankle boots and neglecting these ones from Ireland.

DSC_3012-2

I really love these Loft pants and think when I get back down in my

weight that I will be buying a few more from that line.

I had turned a lot of my pants shopping toward Old Navy, thinking as a stay at home mother,

that is all I needed…I love the better quality and feel of these.

DSC_3016-2

I added my purple coat ,hat , gloves and switched to my flat ankle boots

for my walk to the grocery store.

Self Care

I’ve been looking at the new Weight Watchers Smart points  program, reading blogs and checking out my breakfast smoothie , lunch and dinner preferences to see how it would work out.

The program is quite different from the previous where my Chia seeds and MCT oil for my breakfast smoothie doubledand where fruits were now free, they are in the new program EXCEPT if you put them in a smoothie!

They give you a few more points, but not enough to make up for having my moring smoothie now be half the points for a day…

Still deciding if I am going to indeed go back to WWs….as reading blogs a lot of lifetime members are saying it feels more like a diet and not sustainable for life…

Gratitude

I am grateful to have slept unit 9 am this morning…not something I can take for granted with this crazy menopausal sleep disturbances…

I am grateful that my homeschooling son is finished with his World History class, making room for the Driver’s Ed course.

I am grateful for phone calls from both my kids away at college today, literally had to get off the phone with one to talk to the other, lol

I am grateful for a day that had no rain and for the return of Sunshine!

This week, I am Getting Outfit Inspiration from a spin off,

Private group of my style challengers and today’s oufit called for

THE COLOR RED

DSC_2839-2

I had this outfit hanging together in my closet as I often have a few,

so knew exactly what I was going to use for the Day of RED…

sayings about the color red - Google Search:

In my youth, I steered away from red, believing it wasn’t a good color for me…

My husband loves it and over the years I tried it and lo and behold , deeper reds work well for me!

So my Dear Readers, What’s Your Shade of RED?

DSC_2852-2-2

I added this red leather motto, late summer on clearance.

It’s actually a faux leather or I should say , Vegan Leather, as it sound better, lol

Its a Marc Bouwer via Qvc and sold out now…

Sweatshirt dress (F21), grey boots( Issaac Mizrahi,QVC) , handbag ( just Fab) and scarf (Kroger-my grocery store, lol)

are all pieces I’ve had previous seasons.

IMG_20160125_131806

I got these red fleece lined leggings in a set of 6 colors last year and never

wore them, so thought why not for today on a day of being home, with maybe a quick walk to the grocery store.

I am not sure I’d wear them on a regular basis, but I don’t hate them, so who knows?

Self Care

I had a meditative morning with no electronics or noise, lit a fire in the fireplace and enjoyed the silence while sipping my morning smoothie.  I treasure the quiet in the morning with my late sleeping husband and son….

Tomorrow’s color inspiration is Orange, if anyone wants to join me!

Gratitude

I am grateful for a beautiful sunny day, I kept making excuses to go out to take out trash in every room in the house , etc, just to bask in the sunlight.

I am grateful that my husband was able to change out the turtle tank before he left, it need it!

I am grateful that yesterday after existing on only 3 1/2 hours sleep that I went to bed at 7:00, woke up at 10:30 pm, went back to bed at 12:30 and slept another 7 hours!   It was nice to feel well rested!

I am grateful that we got just a dusting of snow and had the romantic pleasure of snow , without the clean up.

I showed a thrifted wool sweater in my last post.

Living where it hovers above freezing with occassional times of just below that,

doesn’t call for owning much wool clothing.

DSC_2773-2 (1)

For days like this one, my Old Navy Wool Cocoon Coat found HERE was perfect!

It really is a chic piece, very surprisng from Old Navy.

I’ve worn it once before with all black underneath, this time the added striped turtleneck works just as well.

I think I could just sub out for my tan Ann Taylor jeans for another option.

DSC_2780-2

Playing off the energy level of my delighted teen homeschooler for a snow day,

I matched his level of joy and threw my hands in the air and did a spin around….

He took pictures of my entire antics, lol!

DSC_2789-2

I traded out my fringe boots for my thrifted Naotak boots and my Old Navy jacket, for my

Eddie Bauer for a quick walk to the store to extend our outdoor adventure, which my son appreciated.

We didn’t really get any accumulation, so that was about the extent of our fun, except for the snowball he made, photograhed and texted to his brother…

DSC_2749-2

Here is my third wool piece, my Aran Poncho bought on last years Ireland trip.

I paired it with a Old Navy pants and loved how the this outfit pulled together with

pattern mixing from the scarf.

DSC_2750

I love having these colder temperatures and getting to bring out some beloved winter pieces.

I will always love this poncho and the memories of my trip to Ireland !

DSC_2765

My daughter ventured to the Primark store in Boston today , which we went to while in Ireland

and I was actually jealous when she told me that all the upper management was in from Ireland going

through the store making recommendations for improvements.

She loved hearing their irish accents and that was what caused my jealously, lol

Dear Readers, Do you have any coveted pieces you love to wear during the winter season?

If so please share, I adore reading your comments!

Self Care

Today in self care, I brought out the exercize trampoline that had been put away for the holidays

and had fun jumping on it followed by strength training.

Gratitude

I am grateful for the fun and delight my son had today with our little bit of snow.

I am grateful for the fun group texting we have going among my husband, myself and all our children.

I am grateful for the daily phone calls I’ve had this week with my daughter as she rides the bus home from her internship.

I am grateful for how snow always conjures up memories of my dear mother who would always sit at her desk on snow days when I was a child and write letters to family and friends ,as she was homesick for Pittsburgh.

For the Winter Style Challenge for GYPO,

one of the items on the list was a plaid shirt ,

which I opted out of getting as I am not much for button up shirts ,

and if I do wear them would prefer a gingham instead…..

DSC_2657-2

As a Subsitution I bought this fun poncho from Jane.com

As I’ve mentioned before things only stay up for a short time before new items take their place.

They did get a similar version back, but it only has five hours left and I am posting this in the morning.

I did post the link on my Facebook page, so if you are not yet follwing that way perhaps now is the time!

That’s the best way for me to post items that I find there as quickly as possible…

DSC_2665-2

We had a warmer day, and this poncho thrown over a long sleeve tshirt was perfect!

I am wearing my Diane Gilman Flared Jeans, bought for this season.

Mine are no longer available, but she does have 6 other flared options, found HERE

I like that I have navy boots (bought in Ireland) that help to extend my leg line,

a great trick for petite like myself.

DSC_2672-2

I don’t think I could ever tire of wearing ponchos in any form….

I do like the addition of bootcuts and flares along with my skinnys.

I mentioned yesterday that my Madi Claire bag was getting lots of use, lol!

IMG_20160117_150703

Here’s my Game time oufit, which I am now in mourning as my team’s season is over.

DSC_2706-2-2And here’s my amped up version with my santa hat and a second scarf ,

which is how I actually watched the game, lol!

Self Care

I think today’s self care had to be doing my weight training in the morning.

I  made the colossal mistake of skipping it for a few days while I was doing lots of errands and

spending quality time with my son before he headed back to college.  The reason I described it as colossal was it had reached that achy state , which kept me from falling asleep and being too tired to go grab Ibuprofen for relief , made for an uncomfortable night….

Gratitude

I am grateful the support of my son when my team lost, albeit throught texting…

I am grateful for these close quality time moments with our youngest.

I am grateful laughter and playfulmess we have as a family.

I am grateful for the fun we had Saturday night making a fun dessert that some Asian customers served my husband this week…If anyone knows the legitimate name that would be helpful.  It is very simply, egg roll shell wrapped around 1/4 bannana and brown sugar.   They fried them, but luck me as I have my air fryer which worked perfectly!  They were yummy and brought the three of us together on our first night without my other son who had left that morning.

This was my outfit Wednesday for the Homeschool Bowling Party.

I am loving my Loft pants that I found on clearance and they

work well for a Christmas Season outfit.

DSC_2424-2

I paired it with my velvet floral top which I own in both red and green.

It’s like a tshirt in the sleeves and back with the velvet on the front, and is a fabulous top in my opinon.

You can find it HERE by One World, via Evine Live.

If you like this style, there are so many other wonderful tops in their line, found HERE

DSC_2427-2-2

I am also loving the Giluina lightweight cardigan for this unseasonable warm winter.

It’s currently on clearance for $19.95 and comes in several colors found HERE

DSC_2431-2

It was a fun event for the kids and parents alike and I cherish the luxury

of having this shared time with my homeschooling son.

Dear Readers:  What kind of Holiday events are you doing this season,

and what is your favorite outfit for that  occassion?

Gratitude

I am grateful that my husband  is headed to Richmond for two days, to help with the new office.

I am grateful that my son ran back to a customers house and picked up his father’s jacket that he left yestreday.  It was a  few cities away and not an easy task.

I am grateful that before he left my husband managed to fix the messed up string on the outdoor lights, so my daughter will see them when she arrives home tomorrow.

I am grateful that I only have to wait to tomoorow afternoon to have my daughter home!

What To Do With Yet , Another Day of Rain?

Well , This Lady Turned on Pandora for Some Music to

Accompany her Day In , Doing Housework and Packing Away My Sandals.

DSC_1798

But doing Housework, Doesn’t Mean I stayed in PJ’s all Day…

After all getting dressed is just for me, to walk taller and keep my mood up ,

as a homeschooling mom, stuck inside with a teenager.

It was a nice cooler day and once the rain died down to a slow drizzle,

I opened the windows and doors for a fabulous cooling breeze!

DSC_1771

I styled this look with my inherited boots from my dear daughter (24) ,

She bought herself a great pair complete with wedges and a bow on the back.

I decide this outfit needed a spark of red to brighten my mood.

You can see a peek of my bracelet in this shot.

DSC_1789

Here’s a close-up of my red tassel necklace that I bought a few years ago

from Burlington Coat Factory to dress up a Christmas look.

Nice to have it to wear with casual looks as well.

DSC_1778

This outfit has just the right amount of itnerest beyond red accessories.

The pattern mixing of the polk a dot pants and the window pane plaid boots is just right.

And lets’s not forget the fun texture of the lace bottom sweater, which I bought from Just Fab at the end of Winter clearance sales in preparation for this season.

I am so happy with this trend of adding sheer or lace bottoms to tunic sweaters for

an extra touch of feminity.

I think when wearing the not so flattering rain boots, that the lace beautifully works to create balance.

Dear Readers, Wishing you a fabulous weekend!

Thanks for Stopping By, Comments Appreciated,

Cause some days like these rainy grey ones,

this blogger needs a boost!

Gratitude

I am grateful that Hurrican Joacquin is not going to hit us as was originally predicted.

I am grateful for a wonderful break through with getting my son to begin writing assignments for this highly intensive writing year I have planned to take him from zero confidence due to schoolng damage to confident in knowing he can conquer this just as easliy as he did the reading.

I am grateful for finally having a currency to use with my son, as in previous years, if he didn’t want to do it, taking anything away didn’t matter at all… Thank goodness for Xbox friendships and Destiny!

I am grateful for the wonderful cool temps today and the breeze from my open windows.

I am grateful for a conversation with a friend that made me proud of my relationship with my mother and how much apart of each other’s lives we remained until her final day.  If you are lucky to still have a parent alive, be mindful that loneliness among the elderly causes depression and a phone call or visit is a life line.

I am grateful for music that is always available to cheer me up and keep me moving!

Today when getting dressed I decided to put together an Inspiration Look for

My Dear Readers for the July 4th Weekend

DSC_0444

I think I was doing great, til I added the purple purse….

The other elements are great at adding a nod to the Patriotic colors without being overly obvious, which was my goal.

Funny thing is the tank was one I bought from Jane.com  and my daughter didn’t like, so I inherited it and love it!

My Capris are from my favorite Jean designer, Diane Gilman via HSN

Funny, I just realized everthing I have here except my earrings are new for the season!

DSC_0438

I found my necklace on Jane.com and I think the vest too…

You might say I love Jane.com, ssshhh don’t tell my husband!

We had a nice breeze today, so my wonderful plan to create the vertical lines with the white vest went South….

DSC_0435

I had the blue and white covered with my jeans, shoes (clearance from Target) and the white in the polk a dots, necklace and vest…

I decided to add a touch of red to the look with the watch for a subtle nod to the Patriotic Holiday.

Then on the way out, I grabbed my purple purse as we headed to the bowling alley to get my son’s new performance ball drilled!

Dear Readers,  I am always game for stretching myself and trying new things.  Tonight I did that by going to my husband’s gym to test out the Sauna.   I am happy to report that I stayed in for 15 minutes!   It wasn’t as bad as I thought, once you get past the initial heat and panic of wanting to leave.  I saw this happen to several women , who saw me in there toughing it out and came in to give it a go… I was lucky that my husband was there with me and that he had recommended I bring a large mouth bottled ice water to breathe into.  Once I got use to the heat it wasn’t too bad and I made it easily to the 10 minute mark… Laughing at the  young guy who came in after me stayed for 5 minutes before going out for a breath of cool air before returning.   The final minutes were the hardest, but I had declared that I would last for 15 minutes and once I say I am going to do it, I have to!

Bottom line, I would absolutely do it again and in fact think it would be great for my sinuses…

Dear Readers, have you ever tried a Sauna?

Gratitude

I am grateful that the man who drilled my son’s bowling ball had such a great personality and was very thorough in making sure it was comfortable and a right fit.  ( a complete opposite experience from the guy who drilled his first two balls a few months ago)

I am grateful to my son’s League Coach who recommended the new guy to us!

I am grateful that after bowling 2 games with his new ball, that my son described it as , “Awesome!”

I am grateful to my dear mother for her recognizing my “I can’t do it ” attitude and her reading me and reminding me often of “The Little Engine that Could”  and turning me around to an adult who is open to new experiences.  By the time you Read this my Dear Readers, It will be July 2nd, her birthday!  Love you and miss you, MOM!

I couldn’t wait to try this Pinterest Inspiration look

as  I finally found a great red jean jacket.

IMG_3951

I  am using a thrifted polk a dot

maxi dress for my version. 01954b0dff81254406778aab0a0ef46c

I  own some great red heeled sandals very much like the pinterest original, but that didn’t work for my

Mom on the Go type of day!

I definitely will wear this later in the season without the black sweater and add the heels for a date night out look.

After all Red is my husband’s favorite color…

Can you believe in my youth I steered clear of red and thought it didn’t work for my coloring??

IMG_3948

Today was so windy that I had to hold my jacket from blowing open.

I bought three of these cropped 3/4 sleeved jean jackets, after all they are a classic and can be worn for all Seasons.

I listened to the reviews that they run small and was concerned since my arms frequently are tight on jackets.

I bought them in a size large, but I would have been fine with a medium.

I already washed the 98% cotton 2% spandex jacket in hot water to shrink it and it worked!

Now to do the same with this one and the hot pink one.

closeup

It was so much fun wearing this red jacket today.

I am so glad I got over my fear of wearing red and indulged in this purchase.

I also have been having fun these last three days of using sea salt spray in my hair for a more laid back look.

Gratitude

I am grateful that my son was able to get his newly drilled bowling ball today..He is so happy to now have two of his very own in two different weights that he uses…

I am grateful to my brother for picking my son up after work and taking him to get the ball we had to leave yesterday for drilling.

I am grateful for the fun phone conversation with my husband from his newly upgraded suite, an apology for the ten moths in his room last night.

I am grateful for the  pictures of his trip on Facebook and seeing all his hard work at the gym these past 6 months in his shirtless picture on the beach.  (I really need to kick it into gear)

I am grateful that my husband took my advice and bought some shirts in great Spring colors and by doing so encourage my youngest to do the same.. You’ve got to love Old Navy…

I am grateful for our planned trip next summer to Ireland with our two youngest and the joy I hear in my youngest’s voice as he spoke about it to my brother today.  I love that my sons will both have a year of anticipation just like my husband and I did leading up to our first Ireland trip.
