It took me a bit longer to get back to blogging than I originally planned!
I have decided that I will return for 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
My life these days is busy supporting my youngest son’s goals of going to Vegas this summer for a Junior Gold Bowling Tournament!
That means spending 4 days a week in bowling alleys,
two days of leagues and two days with coaches.
This was last year in Detroit for his first Junior Gold Event
I have to say he is the bravest soul I know, as he went and competed after
switching from traditional one handed bowling to two -handed style just 3 months
before the tournament and he was also pretty new to bowling on crazy oil patterns like the pros!
I have learned so much as a bowling mother about this sport!
He has come along way since the Detroit tournament in July.
I feel so blessed to be on this journey with him.
If anyone knows anything about bowling , his new high score is 275 and
his high 3 game series is 691. He has a goal to reach 700 series soon.
Now, I will end with a bunch of outfits I have worn this season,
I definitely am loving kimonos , lol
I wanted to add femininity to my football style, lol
Our movie theater showed games this year and I happened
to park next to this vehicle so had to get a photo.
I added this zebra print cardigan for Fall from Loft,
as you know I love black and white prints as they are
so versatile and can be paired with any color.
I added in some Carmel colors this season with this poncho and top.
Fuchsia has to be one of my favorite colors and I love it with Navy.
My snakeskin booties are new for the season and I love them!
You can’t tell but these jeans are by my favorite designer
Diane Gilman via HSN and have an embroidered Peacock!
I love vests , longer ones for leatherette leggings are a must.
I joined Get Your Pretty On’s Fall and Winter Challenges and faux leather leggings
were all the rage and a polarizing item that not everyone embraced, but I am daring and love them.
Again my love of black and white prints prompted a purchase of polka dot cardigan.
Black faux leather leggings this time around.
Leopard is another versatile print that goes with everything!
January 15th I celebrated 29 years of marriage, boy have we lived through a lot!
Us now, enjoying our love of football despite different teams!
Gratitude
I am so grateful to have moved past the worst of the mourning stage, losing my sister was tough stuff, as so much of who I am is because of who she was…
I am grateful that my oldest found a way to honor my sister’s legacy by embracing her
“Work Hard, Play Harder“ way of life and he is now doing Improv and embracing his innate artistic ability!
I am grateful for a fun night going to see “ A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood “ with that poignant moment of Mr Rogers asking “Who loved you into being”. I seriously thought of 25 people right away !
I am grateful for my Movie B_ uddy and the days we go out to break up my time at bowling alleys!
I am grateful for my New Years resolution to spend one day a month with my dearest friend who is busier than I am supporting her daughter in dance and acting in plays.
Please comment and let me know you are here!
Your comments are my only payment for the effort of blogging.
Share a Gratitude of your own, choose a favorite look , or tell me something keeping you busy these days.

I was so excited to get back to blogging and doing an Outfit Post that I
Laid out my Look last night , including the jewelry, lol
Check out this blog : https://www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com/my-afternoon-at-charlottes-soft-surroundings-beauty-products/
This look is very much my style for a few reasons,
Color, Pattern, Cute Jeans and Wedges!
Of course, I had to add in a layered necklace
look to finish off my maximal style!
My shorter necklace is actually one my sister made,
she made jewelry to sell and wear herself as a hobby.
The Jeans are my favorite jean designer, Diane Gilman ( I may be addicted)
are a fun cropped flared version.
I haven’t tried them with booties yet, but
will in the future to extend their wear- ability .
The Babydoll Tunic, I picked up from Jane is a great style, fitted in the bust with
the empire waist and perfect flair to help camouflage the menopause tummy.
I will be posting soon about my weight loss method that has resulted in 11 lbs
and inches off in the past 5 weeks!
I now have several of these wedges that I picked up over last few years
at TJMaxx by different makers. I unfortunately have been stuck in
flats this Summer after twisting my ankle at a Cemetery in July,
when in Boston to say farewell to my husband’s Aunt Jane.
*Note I took photos too early when sun was bright, was excited to get back to outfit post!
As my past readers know I am really big on third completer pieces ,
and right now I am adoring these fun vests.
This one is one of the samples I have been trying out.
In fact I am looking into selling these.
I started an Amelia James clothing boutique business 6 months after my sister passed on,
big mistake and never got it fully off the ground. I have to sell my inventory and move on as I love the company and clothes , but not the mlm business culture .
The good news is
it taught me was that I want to sell 3rd Completer Pieces!
I created this September Calendar for a group of Style Sisters for
Facebook group that had not been very active to get us back to posting
pictures and to hep me get back to blogging.
I invite any of my readers to join in if they wish.
Please if you have not joined my
Versatile Style by Tracey Facebook Group
do so, and post pictures of your outfits!
This weight gain in just a pain and I want to bust out and just conquer this weight loss, but the
struggle of losing weight after menopause is REAL!
Check out the Link-up for other wonderful bloggers
I have been doing some research on the success of intermittent fasting, where you do not have anything for 12-16 hours after your last meal the previous day.
ideally, the goal is to go the 16 hrs for the sceince of it to work. It seems to work well for men, but that always begs the question, will it be the same for women.
I found this article and decided to heed the warning to do it every other day.
After having green tea until 11am. I indulged in my go-to breakfast lately,
Premier Protein Shake poured over ice into a nice glass as food should feel indulgent…
A banana every morning is my thing and has been most of my adult life.
Around 2:30pm I opted for a full cup of plain greek yogurt with strawberries
Rocking the protein and fruit for the day, but definitely, need to bump up some
vegetables for snack and dinner.
Still near 80’s for us here in Virginia Beach!
Styling one of my Amelia James Memphis Ruffle tops in burgundy with a black stripe.
I love how figure flattering this top is and that I can style it for my boho loving self by adding a wonderful
crotchet vest by Indigo Thread Company . Lots of other options to style this with layers if our weather ever gets cooler!
I have this wonderful top in several colors and sizes up to 4x,
you can see them on my latest live sale video on my Facebook Page.
Eventually I will get a shopping website, but for now you just claim it under the video by using the number and size
and I can send you an invoice via paypal.
Gratitude
I am grateful for my new found vigor and zest for getting this weight loss journey moving!
I am grateful for my sister’s Ipod Music to start me dancing in the mornings.
I am grateful for the fun of reading , ” A Gentleman in Moscow” with my teen age homeschooler.
I am grateful for this blog to turn to and for making me get dressed today instead of staying in my pj’s.
“It Is What It Is” …

I find myself saying this a lot these days.
My shirt actually states, “It is What it is, but it will become what you make of it”
There is nothing more poignant than this saying right now with the crazy swirling around me,
that a friend could just blow up our friendship and throw it away so easily.
I am curiously ok with it because “It is What it Is” has been such a part of my
healthy self talk and not worrying about things I can not control.
I am so grateful for my self care and strength of knowing who I am in the world.
I found this tank online, but can not remember if it was a Facebook Ad or
if I purchased it from TJ Maxx.
My vest is a Kate & Mallory one that I bought in a few colors this year.
Mine is sold out, but HERE is what they offer now.
After having a awful Summer cold for the past week,
I am finally feeling better and grateful as it was a tough one and
I also ended up passing it to the rest of my family.
In other happenings, I finally cleared out my sister’s condo and said my goodbye’s to it.
I am grateful that we had time to do this and come to terms with it all and it was a peaceful goodbye and feeling
so grateful that this condo, steps from the beach was her dream and comforting that it was her final home.
Dear Readers, I am having to completely start my Amelia James Clothing Boutique from scratch as a huge part of this type
of business is growing a Facebook group and posting Live Video Sales. Unfortunately, with the dissolving of my business
partnership, my Facebook was taken down and away from me. If anyone would like to join my new page (HERE) and see my new venture
Or support me by sharing with friends, that would be awesome! I am planning my first solo Live Video Sale , Tomorrow Thursday at 7:30pm
If you are blogger who would like to partner up by writing a post in exchange for a free piece of clothing, comment and let me know
and I will contact you!

Today, I was suppose to go to my Weight Watcher meeting and had this outfit all planned out.
Getting enough sleep reigns supreme in my life, so I opted to go back to bed and get some much
needed rest, as too many nights in a row without had taken it’s toll.
Here is the outfit I had ready for the day.
When I put it on and looked in the mirror , I instantly thought
“Oh , there I am! ”
It became glaringly obvious to me that I have not been myself
these last 6 months and even my style choices were exhibiting that.
The awesome vest adds just the right wonderful element of texture to the tone on tone look.
It is by Indigo Thread, a very boho company I adore.
Here is the link to my vest which is limited to one color now and Here is all the vests they offer now.
My turtle necklace was handmade by sister and is much loved and cherished.
My saddle bag style cross-body purse is by Naturalizer and sold out.
This will probably be last purse purchased for a while as I am pretty satisfied with what I have.
I did recently throw away my beautiful green leather one and told my kids and husband that they should put in on my
birthday wish list as it was the first purse I bought myself after years of using diaper bags and sadly was beyond repair.
I love how my hair color bookends the purse shade.
One last note , if you haven’t tried block heeled shoes yet,
I highly recommend it as these are so comfortable to walk in.
Alas they too are Naturalizers and sold out because I always buy off season on clearance.
Gratitude
I am grateful that I took care of me today and skipped my WW meeting because nothing replaces the need for sleep. As for my WW journey so far,
it has been a slow first month with just over 3lbs lost, but I have managed to use my Simply Fit board to lose 3 inches from the 7 I gained in my stomach from menopause!
I am grateful that my husband too got to catch up on sleep and didn’t have to go to work until 2:30pm today!
I am grateful that my kids are so supportive of each other and truly care deeply.
I am grateful that our allergy laden Lhasa Apso is currently at the vet with two of my adult kids.
Linen Striped Pants for Spring
Posted May 1, 2017
on:I use the term Spring lightly when describing this
balmy 88 degree Saturday in April.
My linen blend pants are a recent purchase from Old Navy (Here)
A pair of wide legged linen pants are a must for Spring/Summer in my book.
I think this chambray pair can be very versatile and paired with many colors.
My vest is called Shawl Dawls and is super soft and can be worn in a few
different ways. In fact later that day I took of my sister’s glass star necklace
and just tied the vest at my waist.
In the morning I was in a cold bowling alley and pulled it into a kimono with sleeves to warm
my upper arms and must say it worked beautifully.
Our temps may have been unseasonably hot,
but as exhibited here we were blessed with a nice breeze.
Clothing really can have an impact on my moods as I felt
very Zen and at ease in the soothing shade of blue and the flowy element
of both the pants and vest.
My Boho self was loving it!
Dear Readers, It felt great to get dressed in a “Real Outfit”
as these past weeks I have been in Workout mode,
twisting, jumping rope, doing Pilates, Yoga stretches,
my Fluidity Ballet Bar and even trying Tai Chi.
I also got a membership to our local Botanical Gardens
and have gone walking there as well as the beach with
my friend and partner in this weight loss venture.
I have lost a total 2.6 lbs my first two weeks on Weight Watchers

With all the craze and addictive quality to the Lularoe brand of clothes, I had been steering clear.
Today , my son’t bowling group had a fundraiser, so of course I had to see what all the fuss was about.
I met two wonderful Lularoe Consultants : Jessica (HERE) and Kristin (HERE)
If you are looking for Lularue Products please support these wonderful women
who were so gracious as
to follow my blog the minute they heard I was a blogger.
I had seen first hand how the Carly Dress works wonders for a woman’s curves,
so decided that I had to give it a try.
This is Absolutely not your basic T-shirt dress, so don’t let it fool you.
As women we all know that the smallest part of any woman is just below the chest,
which is why an Empire waist is so figure flattering.
This dress goes in just under the chest , then flares out slightly in the most flattering way.
I saw this for the first time on a plus size girl and
was floored at what it did for her body,
and knew I had to give it a try.
Apparently I was grimacing instead of smiling in all my photos, lol
Let’s count this as my before picture to look back on as I
am beginning this weight loss journey!
I specifically picked this pattern because I knew it would go with my blue and pink wedges
that I bought last year from TJ Maxx,.
I bought this Indigo Thread vest (Vests currently selling) in both Ivory and Black last season.
This is how I would wear it for an evening event more than a daytime Spring
or Summer look. An outdoor concert and I’d rock this out!
My apologies , I was dressing “Scarlett ” (my dressform) so many times
and didn’t straighten this one up correctly..
I really like how it brings out the white details in the dress and brightens up the look.
This is a Lularoe “Joy” vest I bought with it today.
I love how it brightens it up .
This is another Indigo Thread vest I bought recently for this season.
Crotchet or Lace pieces offer a great detail to outfits
as the element of texture is represented.
While the dress has pink flowers,
I like the darker burgundy and how it goes,
but doesn’t match.
How about some pattern mixing to complete the long
Boho vests I could wear with this dress?
I found this Vest via Jane.com sometime last year.
If I was a stylist dressing clients one rule I would institute is
to add a black and white print of every category in your closet.
A dress, pants, shirt , sweater, etc .
It increases your wardrobe as it can be paired with any solid color.
Vests over tank tops are my go to for Summer , so I recently added
these baby soft “Shawl Dawls“ that work as a vest or more of a Kimono .
It just so happens the rose colored Shawl Dawl one works for the dress too.
This is worn more like the Kimono style.
I buy in multiples if I like something, but have learned to keep it to
just two of any one thing.
Jean Jackets are always a great layering piece for Spring.
With a pair of leggings or tights and ankle boots this could become a cold weather
outfit and I will definitely layer it for those months and get plenty of use out of this dress.
One World Jean Jackets are my favorite , this one found HERE .
With my love of jean jackets, A few years back I invested in 3
of these cropped versions by One world (similar ones here) .
For my petite height a cropped version if wonderful and
I highly recommend if you don’t currently own one in white,
that you add one to your style for great versatility.
A lot of Duster Sweaters are lighter weight and perfect for
Spring weather fluctuations .
This brand has a lot of Spring Duster options Here.
Of course I couldn’t just show one option for
pattern mixing. This Halston sweater is definitely
thin and has an open weaved back, making it a Spring option.
Bonus: this is how I wore it to run to BJ’s to go grocery shopping .
I did the rubber band trick to gather it and shorten it a bit when wearing with
the leggings as it created a better look for my height with the leggings.
Gratitude
I am grateful that after 3 days of asking my sister for a sign that she knows
I have her beloved cats ,Oreo and Cupcake
and can see how happy they are and how much joy they bring us,
indeed a sign showed up!
I am grateful for a weekend with my son home from college , miss that guy!
I am grateful that we were all together and celebrated my youngest’s 17th birthday early ,
giving him hoverboards that he had actually given up on ever getting and thoroughly surprising him.
Notice I said hoverboards plural as I got two so a sibling could join him in the fun.
I am grateful for a Weight Watcher buddy in my dear friend and the way
we push each other to get fitbit steps.
I am grateful for a fun family and friends day spent at Botanical Gardens and for becoming a member ,
so we can go back throughout the year.

All of my tank tops prior to the additions I’ve made this season,
were just layering pieces and tighter .
I love these looser styles that can stand on their own.
I have had great success with TJ Maxx to acquire several at wonderful prices.
This one by August Silk is just $14.99 , which I bought
in size Medium according to the size chart for my
39 inch bust size.
I didn’t buy this one, but it too is at the same price point .
My tote is actually a set of 12 by Willabee Ward that comes each month in different colors.
They are quilted and have different patterns and colors, all with a little sparkle.
The designs are just on the front and the back is solid with quilting.
I love how light the fabric totes are for days when my back is bugging me and I want a lighter purse.
Truth be told I have been considering a life of traveling in a RV for retirement and thought these would replace purses and save space should that indeed be in my future…..
I love this very flowy vest that I picked up last year at the end of the season and
didn’t get to wear that much.
An added perk to the way I shop clearance sales on QVC,HSN and Evine is that
I buy either at the end of the season and get to enjoy it for a short time and feel like it’s
almost brand new when the following season comes around.
I also buy from those places right before a season begins from last year’s inventory that is on clearance still, which is how I got the fuschia pants I am wearing.
Gratitude
I am grateful that my problems are so small compared to what others in my life are facing right now.
I am grateful for the fun my daughter and I had watching “Gran Hotel” ( a spanish show on Netflix with subtitles) as we stayed up for nights watching the three seasons. It’s nice to have a girl back in the house!
I am grateful for AC it’s so nice to be cool when the heat and humidity come.
I am grateful to my son home from college who is supporting his brother with lots of trips to the bowling alley to practice for his State Tournament coming up on Father’s Day weekend.
I am grateful that my hot shower helped my sinus pressure headache disipate.
Sail Away with Me….

I was singing Styx to myslef all day,
I just couldn’t help myself…
I just chased my kids all out of the den by playing this loudly, lol
I just knew I had to add this shirt to my wardrobe when I saw it on the TJ Maxx website.
There really is something about living in a beach and Navy town that make my heart soar and has created a love of nautical fashion items. I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t like nautical outfits. I know that my mother loved it as well as she felt strongly about it as a Navy wife. There was always something so special about the news stories on tv growing up with families going to meet the Navy ships coming in and the kids all dressed in sailor inspired outfits. I loved it so much that I found cute nautical outfits for my children when they were babies.
You can’t see very well, but I added these anchor print pants for the season and you can be darn sure,
that I am going to go very kitchy and pair them with my “Sail Away” top.
I found this cute zippered hoodie vest on TJ Maxx, but alas it sold out.
I just got it in the mail yesterday and was so hoping to post photos quickly enough , but
that’s what happens with limited quantities of stores like TJ Maxx.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, my Just Fab nautical purse is sold out as well.
Wishing all my Dear Readers a Wonderful Weekend
to Recharge and Fill your Soul!
Gratitude
I am grateful for Sunshine and warm days that aren’t too humid, cause trust me they are around the corner!
I am grateful for a fun afternoon taking my son bowling and hanging out with homeschooling mother’s .
I am grateful for a fun grocery shopping with my two sons on our way home, it’s nice to have the company of both boys together instead of it just being me and my youngest.
I am grateful for the sense of humor in our family and the giggles and laughter that fill our home and the car as we traveled around today…
I am grateful that I have reached a stage on the 17 day diet where I feel better and that it will be easy to maintain now that the cravings for carbs and sugar are gone!
Loving Long Vest Trend

As my Regular Readers are Well Aware,
This curvy woman loves completer pieces and
vests for Spring/ Summer are perfect because they are sleeveless and don’t add extra warmth.
Linking up Today with Two Teens and Their Mama
When I saw this one on TJ Maxx online (Sold Out) , I just had to have it.
I can also wear it open, with the tie in the back and will do so in the future.
These shoes are fast becoming a favorite, so much so that I tried to order the second color offered,
but when it came in the mail, I was sadly disappointed that it looks more like lavender than pink.
Will see about styling them before deciding if I will return them.
I really like how the vest breaks up the two different patterns.
The sweater is Ann Taylor, one of my favorite lines, which I never buy unless on clearance.
With the super clearance it cost me just $11.95 and I’ll get a chance to wear it a time or two for Spring
before I put it away for Fall and look forward to for the full season.
Here is another long vest, I have my eye on!
Dear Readers, so far on day two of my banana and hot beverage
for breakfast and protein high lunch and dinners,
I am doing very well. I love that after just two days I am no longer craving sugar
and look forward to a full
two weeks of this before adding in vegetables and healthy carbs.
Here is ten health benefits of bananas
Gratitude
I am grateful to my son who wasn’t feeling good, but graciously got up to take my blog photos today.
I am grateful for the fun surprise of walking outside to take photos to see my husband pulling in the driveway, mind you it was not even 4:30 and he was home, as a salesman he is usually out until 10 pm or later.
I am grateful that we used the time with him home to head to BJ’s to stock up on lots of protein options for me for this new journey to jumpstart weight loss.
I am grateful for a fun texting conversation with a dear friend.
I am grateful that my son said he isn’t up to our planned picnic and venture to Mt. Trashmore between our two bowling events tomorrow, as the high pollen is really messing me up and I am quite tired.
