Definition of vibrant:
having or showing great life, activity, and energy
It certainly doesn’t get more vibrant than this Citrine colored poncho
by Diane Gilman . I love this very lightweight sweater knit which comes in a few colors.
I am wearing the XS/S and must say wearing a tank underneath is required
with how the arm holes are created . If Citrine isn’t your color they have a few color options.
I had my hair cut and colored today and I think Vibrant also describes this
new shade of red , my stylist chose for me.
I love that I have a hair stylist that loves doing all shades of red.
My white Jeans jeans are by Marla Wynne from last season,
but she has a similar version this season HERE
I have to say that these Naturalizer block heeled sandals
are giving my wedges some competition as they are very comfortable.
Mine are sold out, but no worries as Naturalizer is featuring
Block Heels on the their website right now with lots of options.
They have a nice cushion at the pad of you foot near you toes, that
really makes a difference in the comfort of wearing these all day.
Dear Readers, Thanks for Stopping By, wishing you a fantastic weekend!
Gratitude
I am grateful for the rescheduling of my hair appointment after for the first time ever, I forgot my original one.
I am grateful for being at a stage in mourning where I can say my sister’s name without bawling.
I am grateful for a nice Sunny Day after two days of clouds and a cold front.
I am grateful for a new venture I am about to start and which I will share in a few weeks with you.
I am grateful for today being the 99th day countdown towards my second annual Girl Friends Cruise .
Dare to Wear: Culottes

Last Year I bought a pair of black Culottes and I loved them,
so this season I decided to hit Amazon up to see if I could find some more.
Alas Amazon didn’t disappoint and I ended up with three pairs.
Navy, Olive and Purple.
These are just 15.95 each and come in so many colors.
Since I am not much for wearing shorts, I liked this as an option for Spring/Summer
Here is the original pair from last year.
And just for fun, how I wore the kimono style jacket last Summer.
My photographer asked me if this was the 70’s due to the colors
swirled in my kimono jacket.
I bought these Vince Camuto laser cut sandals (via Hsn- Sold out) at the end of the Summer Season,
and am thrilled to put away my boots and embrace these.
I am looking forward to wedges and other sandals too.
This necklace is a vinatage Avon piece that was my mother’s from either the late 70’s to early 80’s.
I love this little guy and wearing it makes me feel close to my mother who I am missing terribly,
as we approach my daughter’s upcoming college graduation.
I am going to try to expirement to see if I can get any proportions
to work that would allow me to wear the cullotes with flats,
I don’t know with my petite height and this volume if I can do so,
but I will give it a try and take pictures to see if it works, cause
as I’ve said before, mirrors lie when it comes to proportions.
Dear Readers, I have to get my butt in gear and lose this darn weight that I’ve gained back,
as I don’t wish to struggle all Summer to find looks that I feel good in. This darn menopausal weight
gain, mostly in my middle,is denying me my hourglass body shape that’s been true my entire adult life.
I am so out of proportion that I feel like I am styling oufits for somebody else and my creative outlet needs to be a fun place in my life.
I am doing a silly thing for the next two weeks to get myself off sugar and carbs and back to healthy eating and you can blame it all on Facebook.
Apparently there is a banana diet that suggests eating a banana or more along with a warm beverage for breakfast, then eating normally for lunch and dinner.
Some proponents say only warm water while others say coffee or tea is ok as well. I decided to give it a try this morning , but tweaked it a bit by dipping my bananas into cinnamon. I was surprised that it indeed held me until lunch in which I decided to stick with just proteins for both lunch and dinner.
As luck would have it , I had leftover ham from Easter dinner and
also added a snack of peanuts in the afternoon.
I feel great so will do something similar tomorrow and hard boiled up egss for my lunch.
Note I am only doing this protein, banana thing for two weeks at which point I may keep the banana breakfast and add in lots more vegetables for the next round. Perhaps the third round I will add small carbs like quinoa. I just know it’s time to do something serious and protein is easy and will definitely, get me out of the sugar cravings.
While Doing this I am also researching Trim Healthy Mama, which isn’t easy to read with my ADD, so not sure how far I will get with that and I am also looking into the Superfood Swap as they both do a lot of subbing for things I have cut out of my diet like spagetti for zuchini noodles or white flour for Coconut or Almond flour and I’d like to expirment with those a lot more.
Dear Readers are any of you doing any of these types of changes or have experience with the idea of superfood swapping?
Chime in I love hearing from You!
I Made a Styling Trick Video…

A question came up today among my fashion friends on how to make a dress
that was below the knee look good with boots and jackets as it felt too dumpy…
I’d had that exact issue a few weeks ago when I wore my striped dress to
Parent’s Night Out and this is how I fixed it…
Today’s color for the challenge was Yellow…
I began this with my Old Navy Pixie Pants that I bought to got with my
Steelers gear. I’ve also worn it with non -gear beause they are versatilve…
Here is a way I styled them this past Summer…
I love a print pant because they really make a solid top more special…
I turned this into a Sporty Luxe look by adding my sneakers..
It was practical for my active laundry day!
It’ was colder today so the turtleneck and hat were great for my outside trash runs…
Dear Readers, Pairing these pants with Green and Blue or my Black & Gold Steelers tops are my first instincts…
Of course I named my blog Verstatile Style because I want a variety of ways to wear each piece…
Any thoughts on other colors I should try with these yelow print pants?
Self Care
Well today my husband was home so we decided to give the cottage cheese and fruit a try…
I have to say with just juice from the fruit I could taste the salt and didn’t like that. It was better
when I added a bit of Truvia to it and in fact reminded me of our favortie Peaches and Creme cheesecake.
I however am concerned about the amount of sodium and don’t think this will be a go to snack for me unless I check other
options to see if they are all that high. I did end up eating Pumpkin seeds and an apple instead for my lunch. I have to
the 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds were very satisfying and had only 35mg of sodium and packed a good 10 grams of protein.
Gratitude
I am grateful that I finally gave cottage cheese a try as it had been on my radar for quite awhile.
I am grateful for the fun time trying the new food was for us as our little family of 3.
I am grateful that my sinus equilibrium issue went away and allowed for my active day…
I am grateful for the inspiration to do the video as it was so much fun and for the eager willingness of my son to record it for me.. his support with my blog photos is amazing!
It’s all About the Blue Patterns
Posted October 30, 2015
on:I ‘ve come to really realize how much I love Navy and
blue colors in my wardrobe.
Linking up today with APocketful of Polka dots and Penniless Socialite, so
many wonderful bloggers for you to explore.
Warning, not my best pictures…
It was quite a windy day…Sometimes that makes for the best photos…
Not the case for today, lol!
My necklace is new, bought from one of GYPO style challengers
who was selling off some pieces for a mission trip.
I had my sleeves pushed up a bit most of the day, to showcase my bracelets.
The blue one is my princess one bought from a Castle in Ireland.
My Sweater is light weight and wanted to blow, I am holding in place, lol
I adore printed pants and their versatility.
These are a pair of Diane Gilman Jeans that I’ve had awhile.
It seems she only does printed versions for Spring/Summer.
I also like Old Navy pixie pants that offer a few patterned options.
I found a tan and creme striped cardigan at Goodwill and loved it so much last season,
that I just had to add more striped versions before I began my no shopping ban.
I , of course found this Liz Lange on clearance and it was part of her Spring line.
I loved the pattern mixing in this look and the pop of yellow from the purse.
I love the comfort of my payless pumps , but have told DH I would like to replace these round toed for a pointed toe version. I even took him in the store and showed them to him, requesting them for Christmas, fingers crossed.
Dear Readers, I loved the feeling today after my treadmill exercising yesterday. I cleaned up a lot today, so am ready to do another workout tomorrow. And go figure I am looking forward to it! I love the feeling of strength training and have spurts of loving cardio , so hoping that instead of a spurt that I can indeed make this a lifetime change. I did do some strength training today!
Gratitude
I am grateful for the moment when I found a blush called Sexy Booster by Physicians Formula, that a friend had given me awhile ago. I opened it and smelled the “Pheromone Blend & Seductive Scent” and instantly handed it to my husband and asked what that smelled like to him… He answered “Vegas” Exactly like the smell at the Hard Rock Hotel we stayed at, lol!
I am grateful that my husband had a sale today and still made it home in time to watch his much anticipated Patriots- Miami Game and for the fun of listening to his cheering his team on as I type this.
I am grateful for my husband’s compliment of today’s look and was surprised at how much he liked the pants, I knew of course he’d like the heels, lol
I am grateful for my husband’s work schedule and how much he’s been around this past week and all the time for extra hugs.
Poncho Weather

There is nothing more fun for this boho loving fashionista,
than when we get temps were I can rock a poncho.
It’s so fun to bring the boho look into my Fall/Winter Style,
which before ponchos was a struggle.
If you are a regular reader, you may remember this one as
it was a favorite last year and I am happy to say the love is still strong.
I paired it with new faux suede leggings by Kate & Mallory
Suede and faux suede on on trend for the season and this legging was just what I needed to embrace it
to pair with lots of tunic length tops and boots for the season.
It comes in three colors, black and dark brown in addition to this taupe shade.
Things like this sell out pretty fast on Evine Live.
I scored this paisley necklace in fun shades of the season on clearance from Charming Charlie
, so no longer available.
I wanted an extrao vertical line to break up the poncho, so I added a long chain and my mother’s brooch.
I love wearing this pin as a necklace, but brooches are back this season, so I may have to break out and
wear it on a scarf or jacket in the near future.
I loved the extra pop of color with the yellow handbag from Amazon.
It also plays nicely with leapard flats.
If you haven’t yet embraced the versatility of leopard flats and what they add to an outfit,
I highly recommend you run to the store right now!
Dear Readers, I am still on my shopping ban, but check out this temptation
a tweed/leather multi media blazer from Liz Claiborne, NY.
It comes in sizes 0 to 28
Wishing You a Happy Hump Day, Off to homeschool bowling this morning , so skipping
my gratitude section, as I normally write this the night before, but not last night….
If you are a Dear Regular Reader,
You know that I Fully Embrace My Femininity
and this outfit is certainly an example of that.
My GYPO Style Challengers suggest that we all post
outfits supporting our favorite team.
I had to jump at that Opportunity…
You can’t get more feminine than lace with my layering tank top from Jane .com
The Joan Rivers via QVC jacket with the elastic waistband to show your curves also adds to the feminine style.
I finished it off with Old Navy Pixie Pants and my new Fringe Booties via Amazon.
These boots actually have silver chains among the fringe, a great addition!
There are some outfits that create a very high happiness factor
and this my Dear Readers did just that for me today.
I really love the new lace layering tanks and have so many plans to style them for Fall/Winter.
I bought another one in a goldenrod color, as well.
While mine are not available, Here is a low priced option from Kohl’s
and a more expensive style from Grace & Lace.
With so many options to style these with shirts you already own,
I have to recommend this as a fabulous addition to your wardrobe.
I wore some fun yellow earrings I had from summer necklace set.
What you can’t see very well is my new birthday bracelet.
It’s by the Bradford Exchange and can be found , here.
Dear Readers it is very fun for me to style a plain sport t-shirt in such a feminine way , as to support my team, yet remain true to my personal style descriptors of : Feminine, Sassy, Colorful, Boho and Edgy.

Good Hair Day, Bad Hair Day…

Today was a dreadfully hot day where it actually felt like a Sauna!
The photos today, tell the story of how my hair went from looking Great, to flat…
The first photo of the bunch under the protection of my favorite tree…
I’ve had this outfit put together and waiting for a day to wear.
I usually have about 3 to 5 combos like that for those days when I am uninspired to create a look.
These are all pieces I’ve had for years, except for the yellow purse bought this season.
When I moved to this spot, the wind kept catching my hair and getting in my face…
I literally gave up posing in this stance…
And now my hair looks much flatter, lol!
I really love these colors of the yellow and purple together.
This yellow kimono, I’ve had for years is a favorite.
I actually had this set next to a green skirt in the closet and instantly thought of how
I could style those together. I really need to create a feature of using one piece three ways.
Gratitude
I am grateful that I found the drive to do some sitting down hand weight exercises as well as bicep dips and push ups on the couch by using only one leg and not hurting my knee… Not exercising was frustrating!
I am grateful that I slept in until 10:15 this morning!
I am grateful to my youngest for stepping up and turning on the dishwasher for me, as well as getting as well as cleaning up and doing things to help me rest my knee.
I am grateful for a phone call from my daughter after her exam, where she sounded very happy. She even was grateful that she was out of class early and had time to cook a proper dinner before starting her 10 page paper, which she optimistically thinks she will have done by midnight and still get a good night’s rest. This is special as she likes to complain and just be heard, so hearing her see the positive was delightful to this Mom!
Maxi Loving

I swear my favorite article of clothing is a maxi dress or skirt…
It is so funny that a few years back I steered clear of them due to my petite height.
I could live all Summer in them!
This pink one I bought last season on Beyond the Rack which is now Choxi.
I was pleasantly surprise that it was a Cato brand from that site.
I bought this yellow Joan Rivers Jacket from Ebay
as a reaction to her death and have been chomping at the bit
to wear it with this pink, purple , yellow and orange floral maxi.
Not the best photo, but my silly photographer came outside with no shoes
and his feet were burning on the concrete…
I loved how this outfit came together and felt so wonderful in it…
Can a wear a maxi everyday, please?
Gratitude
I am grateful for several phone calls from my daughter who is back in Boston. I miss her terribly!
I am grateful that my youngest opened up to me about how hard it’s been without his XBox (it broke) to communicate with his homeschooling group. He’ll have a new one shortly!
I am grateful for Parents Night out and all the wonderful information on new curriculum ideas.
I am grateful for the wonderful friendships and how caring this group of mother’s are for each other.
I am grateful that we made plans to bowl together soon and booked our next Parent’s Night Out!
Getting it in Gear!

Today I worked out with weights first thing in the morning , committing myself to daily workouts.
This blogging thing and seeing pictures is just the reality check I needed…
When I did body measurements I confirmed what I already knew…
In the past any weight gain I’ve done so very evenly gaining the same number of inches in my chest, waist and hips…
This time my chest didn’t change at all and my waist bloomed 4inches while my hips only 2 inches…
This 15 pound gain at the stage of menopause is definitely showing!
These pants are by Old Navy, but I scored them on clearance so they are sold out.
With tighter waist than the shorts I wore the other day with the navy peplum top,
it doesn’t look anywhere near as good…
I do like this side pose, lol…
I am finding it funny that I have owned this bow necklace for over a year and not worn it much, yet have worn it twice in just a week or so..
I got it from Ebay, Here. and my purse from Amazon, Here.
Dear Readers, At 11:30 pm I showed my husband the second picture above and told him how unhappy I am with this stupid gain and he said, “I guess it’s too late to go for a walk” and I replied, “No it’s not if you are game , so am I”
Yep, We did it an hour walk at midnight!!!!
My supportive husband will think twice before saying anything like that again…It just proves how dedicated I am to getting this off and getting back to loving getting dressed daily.
Gratitude
I am grateful to my husband for being such a great sport and taking me for a late night walk.
I am grateful that I have always been a woman of spontaneity!
I am grateful for my blog and the pictures that make it impossible to ignore what the weight has done to my shape.
I am grateful to my dear daughter for keeping her word to her younger brother and making him a really cool Minecraft cake, made of Rice Krispy treats, blue jello, chocolate cake and green icing.. She missed his birthday in April because she was in graduate school… and she is heading back a week from today for a Summer class..
I am grateful for the fun I had tonight writing Haiku’s when challenged to do so on the group Facebook page for the GYPO Summer Challenge. I will share at least one with you tomorrow!
Cobalt Love…

I am happy that cobalt is still a strong color for the season.
I love it and think it pairs well with so many colors.
I recently thrifted this color blocked black and cobalt tank.
I bought the cobalt shoes last season from Payless Comfort Plus Line.
Here is this year’s offerings in that line.
I am loving the yellow ones, but my shopping addiction is on overload for Spring so I am resisting.
This yellow statement necklace is the one I bought on a walk last week to Burlington ,
my youngest went with me and helped me pick this one out.
My pants are Old Navy Pixie Pants and I have to say I am so glad I tried pants from them,
as I love them and have bought several this past year.
I swear the majority of my pants are now Diane Gilman Jeans, Old Navy Pants and a few Spring soft pants from F21.
I do have a few other sources, but these are my favorites.
I have to laugh at this photo, as more often than not in this pose, my heel comes out of my shoe and my observant teen photographer usually notices and tells me to adjust….
Today, however I asked him to leave a computer game to take my photos, so I guess it’s to be expected.
Dear Readers, As a stay at home mother I don’t get to wear heels as often as I would like, so today when my son was suppose to have a private bowling lesson, I took advantage of it. Since it is Spring Break, the coach cancelled, thinking it would be too crowded to get a lane. My husband was at an appointment this morning when he got the cancellation call and instantly took the opportunity to ask us to go out to lunch. I loved that I was dressed and feeling great. I never take for granted or forget the times when I didn’t take as good care and get dressed daily and am so glad I’ve forever changed that. I can see how happy it makes my entire family, as they all never cease to compliment me.
Gratitude
I am glad for the cancellation of the bowling lesson and time for my husband to spend with us.
I am grateful for a trip to BJ’s and finding a new maxi skirt there.
I am grateful for the kind responses to yesterday’s post.
I am grateful that a few more people joined my Facebook Group looking for support to lose some winter weight. https://www.facebook.com/groups/594960117306992/
I am grateful that my husband supports my love of fashion and compliments my efforts.
