Day 13 for Remix Challenge
Posted March 26, 2013
on:I was suppose to go to my weigh in today, but didn’t make it due to sinus pressure headaches to the point of migraine level and nausea. Waiting for this weather to change for relief! My husband who never gets sick was hit with that stomach flu that my son and I dealt with last week.. He never gets sick, but this really hit hit hard.
A reminder of the previous day’s look..
What I would have worn if I had made it to my WW meeting today… I would have worn tights as I was cold taking these photos, but didn’t feel like asking my son to hold on while I put them on. He so graciously squeezed in photos for me, despite his pressure with so much make up homework from missing 4 days of school due to that darn stomach flu…
As you can see I opted to carry over the bright blue blazer , which I purchased on clearance from Chadwicks and is no longer available. I have worn this scarf a lot and happily it is still available Here. The purse and dress are both thrifted.
Dear Readers, my posts today is just a quick uninspired one due to the intensity of my headache today.. Thanks for stopping by and remember I welcome and appreciate all comments.

Gratitude: I am grateful for a phone conversation with my younger brother today, I just love him so much! I am grateful that my husband got sick before he left the house for work as he would have pushed himself to go and been throwing up during a long drive for a corporate meeting… I am grateful that my son is on top of his make up homework and focused on doing well. I am grateful that my daughter is taking the rejection of her PHD application so well and has a Plan B in place.
Loving Sarah’s idea for a remix challenge and joining the party late, as she did it for February… After 3 days of mostly neutrals, I decided it was time for a little color….Well, more like a “PUNCH” of color!
But first here is the previous day’s look:
And now for the PUNCH OF COLOR
If you are a close observer you may note that I actually carried over three items from yesterday, the leggings, ballet flats and purse… You have to admit that fuschia is quite an influx of color compared to the three previous looks! This was a perfect Mon on the Go look for my day of homeschooling, laundry and a quick walk to the grocery store with my homeschooler…We love going for walks some days and since only in year 2 of homeschooling it still feels special to be out and about during traditional school hours.
This tunic is by Motto, a QVC brand and no longer available as I snatched it up last year when it went on clearance. Both the jean jacket and purse are thrifted finds.. I could never have imagined how much I would come to love this Nine West purse. It is just the perfect size to grab and go and adds another pattern element. Well worth it’s $4 price tag.. These ballet flats are by Anne Klein purchased at DSW over two years ago and a favorite of mine.. I may have to look out for their replacement as this may be their final year…
I hope you enjoyed this burst of color because I do and may just have to carry over that tunic for tomorrow’s look… I have a method to this as I am working my way towards my St. Patrick’s outfit without having to take a break in the challenge…
Dear Readers, do you hate it as much as I do when you have to face replacing a favorite pair of shoes? If you are a blogger are you feeling as grateful for the extra daylight that allows for more opportunity for picture taking?

Gratitude; I am grateful for the breakdown with a child today that led to a break through..(just wish I would remember that the breakdown means a break through is coming around the corner) I am grateful that my husband got his check a day earlier than we anticipated. I am grateful for the walk to the grocery store with my youngest and the memory of how much my walks with my father are a part of his legacy. I am grateful for finding this remix challenge and how much fun I am having with it… I never said how long I was going to keep this going….
This was yesterday’s look where I kept the striped top from the day before. According to this challenge that means I had to choose a different item to keep for today’s look. The choice here was easy as I wear a dress to Weight Watchers…
What easier choice than to keep the winter white moto jacket (my newest purchase and new love!) to add to a dress that is one of the survivors of my weight loss. The elastic empire waist made keeping this a possibility ! I purchased this dress two years ago from Burlington Coat Factory for just $14.99 and have to say I have gotten quite a bit of use out of it…
A peek of sunshine on a rainy day, gave me opportunity for photos…
My Weight Watcher results are as expected since I came home from vacation and craved carbs and just couldn’t seem to stop myself. My daughter was home for Spring Break and I didn’t do much exercise and if that wasn’t bad enough, I was feeling extremely emotional…The anniversary of my mother’s passing is coming up and the sadness that she never made it to my daughter’s high school graduation (something she wanted to do so badly) coupled with the sadness that she isn’t with me to share in the joy of her college graduation in two months, just saddened me and those carbs kept calling my name…. So I gained 2.4 lbs. No worries I know how to get back on track and will do so immediately. This is why I chose WW, for the accountability of having to publicly face the scale and reboot myself if I went off track. My leader said that carb attack is common after vacation and the alcohol on my trip probably helped to trigger this.
I’ve never been a big wearer of leggings with dresses, but feel it is a great transitional look until the temperatures get warmer…
Dear Readers, Here is where this challenge gets really interesting from my point of view…. I can’t choose the jacket tomorrow because this is the item I chose from yesterday…. I could choose the dress, but don’t wish to as it is just such a prominent piece and I don’t think it will look so different in a remix, besides the fact that I would prefer to wear pants tomorrow… So just a few accessories left to choose, but not complaining as I am loving that I have to choose one item in which to be the jumping off point for the next day’s look. Some direction is better than none on busy weeks… Also time to switch from the neutrals to some color!

Gratitude: I am grateful for my WW meeting and the wonderful group camaraderie. I am grateful to a dear friend who reached out to me and offered her love and help. I am grateful to a wonderful friend I made through WW who blessed me today with the gift of a DVF dress ( a dream of mine to own one) and for the time spent together after our meeting. I will post pictures on Saturday with “My Lucky Find’s “. I am grateful for the nap I took today after only 3 hours of sleep last night. I am grateful to my 17 year old for cooking dinner.
Tan Thrited Shirt Dress
Posted January 31, 2013
on:This tan shirt dress has potential to serve as versatile workhorse. I bet, if I was so inclined I could come up with at least a months worth of looks for that dress. I am not inclined to do such a venture as 30 looks… I am a new blogger, though and in time reserve the right to change my mind and revisit that idea….
I chose a classic, preppy coloring of pink and tan for the first go round with this dress. I have to confess that I purposely resisted my first three ideas of orange, brown and red. Those colors will all work well, but I have been wearing those colors lately as for me they are staples for cooler seasons. I took advantage of the warm weather and took these photos before the temperature started the big drop. Glad I did so as today I felt exhausted and like a good day to stay in pjs…Right now it is around 30 degrees…
I think this is a great, easy Mom on the Go look for any of us mothers who refuse to succumb to the t-shirt , jeans and tennis shoes… Funny, I only wear tennis shoes for working out…And with Fluidity I go barefoot!!! So, I’ve taken a few warm weather looks and I see already what I mentioned before that my Spring and Summer style becomes less edgy…I like this side of me and do have to embrace my conservative side.
I did a replacement of ballet flats in early fall and just love these Aerosoles and have them in black as well. The pink or currently on clearance at $19.99. I did not get any pointed flats when I made my purchase of new ones, so may have to add in a pair or two come Spring… Frustrating because I thought I did such a good job when I got 4 new pairs to replace worn out ones.
Dear Readers, do you change your style during different seasons? What’s on your current wish list for Spring? Any plans to get pointed flats?
Gratitude: I am so grateful for the health of my children and family. If you are grateful for the health of your family please join me today in sending out prayers to a fellow blogger @ thrifted or scripted as she fights breast cancer.
