After allowing myself 20 months of mourning, the loss of my sister,

I am finally ready to get back to my Passion for Fashion and consistent blogging.

I put together a calendar for September Outfit Inspiration prompts for a group of my Style Sister’s

, so thought I would share it with my readers in case anyone wants to join me.

I will post it next week and post inspiration looks to give you ideas the day before each one.

If you haven’t joined my Facebook Group, please do so now , to post pictures of your looks and see others too.

I will also be fitting in some weight loss journey posts as menopause weight gain and then emotional eating took their toll.

Now for my Fall Haul in Preparation for my return to blogging.

I began this in Spring, lol .

If you know me at all you have heard me talk about my love for the balance of ying/yang

and with outfits that includes edgy mixed with feminine touches.

Usually that means mixes pieces, but nothing is better than finding that balance in one piece!

I bought the blue one first as it was a daily special and on my list of colors I wanted to add for the season.

I went back and added the black in a slightly different style , but the same designer

because it truly was more edgy! Can’t wait to style these!

The absolute best thing about having all the basics

means you can add some wild cards and fun colors.

Ever since I saw the Nina Proudman character with green suede boots,

I wanted a pair!   They are really a neutral that will go with a lot.

I love a bit of western flair, with no desire for actual cowboy boots,

so what better find to soothe that itch than these fun mules in a wonderful hue for Fall.

Red is going to be huge for the season in everything from monochromatic head to toe looks,

as well as mixing with light pink, hot pink and orange.

Polka dots are also going strong on trend.

Don’t forget a scarf or other accessories to add in a trend and bump up your wardrobe for the season.

I dislike button up blouses, but love pullover ones.

They are so great faux tucked into a skirt, pants or jeans

or layered under a jacket, vest or cardigan.

The new trend of layering up

has tickled my imagination

and I picture trying this with a navy turtleneck underneath.

I adore the femininity of a peplum top,

but currently only have short sleeve versions.

This fun orange and pink shades will be fabulous for the season.

This brand runs big, so I ordered a size small.

A new Cardi is always a great addition and this one caught my attention.

Thinking my new mules will work nicely with this.  I also like the length to wear with dresses too.

Football Season for my favorite team begins the day after my birthday,

so I call this my early birthday gift.  It is super soft and fabulous!

All football tops seem to run small and I got this in large.

One of my favorite sites is 40plusstyle and Sylvia issued a challenge to come up with two outfits that had three colors and a pattern.  I looked through my pictures since I began my blog in October,  and was surprised that I did two colors and a pattern very often, but not three.  Since my goal for starting this blog was to challenge myself to go above and beyond my normal styling habits, this was interesting to me.

It just so happened that I had already planned Monday’s outfit which I think totally qualifies:

And of course Tuesday’s,  which I am submitting for the challenge:

Funny, how I chose these two photos, with similar poses… the above outfits are mostly thrifted excluding the boots, while today’s new outfit only includes one thrifted item…Thrif

Today I decided to try for just one more, but this time wanted to do it with pants instead of a dress.  I also wanted to not include black in this version.  Here is what I came up with :

I really just wanted to share in case any of you, my dear readers wanted a thought provoking moment of asking yourself if you succeed with doing three colors and a print in your looks.  If not it is something new to inspire you….If so congratulations, you are more advanced than I am at adventurous styling.

I will keep this in mind, along with pattern mixing and see if I can incorporate it more instead of the two colors I had been doing.  I love learning and trying new things in creating my style….

I really love these Aigner boots that I found on a super clearance deal in the spring.  I have to say the heel height is very comfortable and I could walk in these all day, so would make a perfect Mom on the Go look..

Outfit Details:

Blouse- Thrifted-S.L.B. 70% silk, 30% cotton- $2.50

Cobalt Jacket- Motto via Qvc- last year

Pants- Denim & Co clearanced via Qvc

Boots- Aigner – clearanced $9.99

Linking up with Thrift and Shout today, so go see what some other wonderful bloggers are up to…

Gratitude: I am grateful for this blog and the adventures I am having. I am grateful to my oldest son who cleaned up the kitchen without being asked…I am grateful to my husband for realizing he was talking all about his job and stopping to ask me how my blog was doing.

As Always Dear Readers, I welcome and appreciate your comments.  Please stop by tomorrow and see “My Lucky Find’s ”  where I scored six dresses from Goodwill.

I specifically had a graphic print dress on my wish list and when thrifting searched until I found this cute little number…

I absolutely love it and this is such a versatile dress that I can wear with  so many different sweaters or jackets.   I chose this sweater,  that I refer to as my raisin colored one.  to match the newly thrifted Nine West purse.

Even the belt  thrifted.  So everything except my jewelry, tights and boots in this outfit is thrifted…. I really think getting dresses from the thrift store is such a good way for me to expand my dress collection.  When I get them at half price deals for only $3.50 it sure beats prices anywhere else… I have to be very discerning and only pick dresses I really love or I would need an entirely new closet to house them in since I am acquiring them  for that crazy price.   I know I am repeating myself, but I really can not stress enough how much I love dresses and skirts.

I usually only include three photos of an outfit, but this time my husband took the photos and there were so many good ones that I had a hard time narrowing it down.  I literally started with eleven.  You can’t even imagine the surprising realization that I had over liking so many photos.  When I first began this blogging journey I was just tolerating putting these images out in the public.  After all, I am not at my goal weight.

I really can see major changes in my body from this 35 pound weight loss and can celebrate where I am.  I recently measured and realized I have lost 4 and a half inches off my hips and am just about an inch and a half from my goal….It is so doable…. It feels like a long road here, but I can see the finish line… I am excited to get there and move past the pain of the past and the renewal of  celebrating my mother’s life and memory instead of the pain of her dementia and years of being ill.  To reach this point was a long road and I feel so blessed and grateful to be here.  I feel like I have climbed a mountain and am exhausted from the journey, but spiritually renewed and ready for the next phase of my life! Saying goodbye to my mother really was the toughest point in my life and that is saying a lot for a former  “daddy’s girl” whose father passed away when I was just thirteen..  For those of you who haven’t experienced this yet, losing your same sex parent is tough, especially if you had a wonderful. loving relationship.  It’s that time of year and I am sentimental….  Today, November 26th was my father’s birthday…Anyone else get this way during the holidays?

Grateful: For my husband taking so many wonderful photos that led to my realization that I have jumped a hurdle.  I am most grateful for the progress in the mourning process that allows me to just celebrate my mother’s memories and not the last few years when she was sick and I was her caregiver… What else do I need to say about gratitude today, these two are huge!

As always dear readers, your comments are welcomed and appreciated…Have a wonderful day!

Tuesdays are always a day where I get up feeling anxious and rush to the scale first thing after I get up or should I be honest and confess that I go to the bathroom first, can’t weigh in til I make sure to release any possible extra weight…

I then spend my morning running back and forth between the scale making sure that the outfit I chose doesn’t make the number go up…. I think I must weigh myself at least 5 times before I leave for my meeting.  I swear I have no other obsessive compulsions.  This is it, all brought on by facing a scale….Notice I wear leggings on weigh in days. they weigh less than other pants…

Why do I give that darn thing so much power in my life, why can’t I just wake up and let the chips fall where they may instead of obsessing for two hours every Tuesday morning?  This next photo is a close up just to emphasize how windy it was…

I really shouldn’t complain I chose Weight Watchers because I wanted the accountability of weighing in and keeping on top of this. The scary part is that I chose WW because I wanted the accountability for the rest of my lifetime…

I sure hope when I reach that point of just maintaining that I can not be so obsessed with stepping on the scale every morning as my first waking thought is “Well, did I do ok, yesterday?”

I guess after not stepping on a scale for years while I ate emotionally and put on this weight means I have to change something, but I always say “Any thing in excess is not good for you.”

Part of this journey has to be finding the balance and not obsessing over stepping on the scale so many times a day… It is something to aim for later, but for right now it is my security blanket and I am not ready to give it up.

After suffering severe sinus pressure headaches that felt more like migraine’s  Sunday & Monday and the sore throat and fever I now am experiencing, I am not going to my WW meeting.  No worries that will not become a habit.  I actually look forward to my meetings.

My scale says that I gained .4lbs,but then again it was just 4 am and that is never what time I start weighing myself..  Who knows it could make perfect since with eating out, sitting still these past two days and let’s add in PMS and my aching swollen chest… Since I am up, going to post this now and head right back to bed.

The big question is can I eat really well and indulge just a little on Thanksgiving and still have a loss next week.  I’m going to try! I am not giving up stuffing and rolls just this once…  Will let you know next Tuesday on the next Weigh In Day….

Linking up with Real Girl Glam!

Let’s begin with my reveal for my favorite outfit of last week’s Pinterest Inspiration Challenge.  While I surprisingly liked all of them and would wear them in my real life, this is my mot favorite:

So when your third child is turning 17 and he jokes you about being old, how do you retaliate?  If you are a budding fashion blogger, you run to your closet and put together a fantastic outfit and say to yourself “I look GOOOOD!”

I knew I had succeeded in my goal to show that b’day boy that I am not old, when my husband came home… His first words were, “That outfit looks great!”  Since red is his favorite color, no surprise there….

We took the boys out to dinner at Outback where our oldest son is working while in college…. We didn’t even see him though, as he works the carry out department.. I have to say that I am getting use to this shrinking of my family as there are so many times that it is just the four of us instead of six… I really don’t mind the smaller group… With the way I spaced out children every 4 1/2 years it feels like it did in the beginning when it was just the two older ones…It feels comfortable, but I am looking forward to Tuesday night when Ashley is home and we are all together for the next 5 days… Last year I asked my sister to host my brothers for Thanksgiving and continued it this year, we just need time for just the six of us… Christmas they will all be over for breakfast and dinner, as has been our tradition.

I have say I am so excited about this outfit. I purchased these red boots a few years ago and love them…. The top is thrifted and the sweater I’ve had for a while. these pants are   ones I had purchased a few months ago and couldn’t quite fit into, as they are a size 6.  I have been searching thrift stores for 6 months for just the right red purse and finally found it last week.  The funniest part is that it is a Nine West, the same brand as my beloved red boots!  How funny is that??!!  Can you believe there was a time I avoided red and didn’t think it worked well with my fair skin??
