Today we had a wonderful 80 degree breezy day…

For the GYPO Style Challenge outfit of the day,

the outfit suggested dark jeans, grey t-shirt, bright cardigan,  and floral scarf.

I at least have the grey top right…

Just kidding,  I opted for Old Navy Pixie pants and since it was too hot for me to want to sport a scarf,

the next best thing was to cover the grey tank with a printed kimono from last season.

I tied the kimono right under the bustline , which is one way I like to wear them.

I also wore a sapphire necklace that my husband gave me several years ago .

The lipstick color is a one I recently purchased as a darker pink variety for the season.

And this bucket hat, I’ve had for 10 years, from the days when I had my consignment store…

It was so much fun to wear more summer pieces and sandals today.

Dear Readers, My thoughts today were “Boston Strong”  as I chatted with my daughter at Boston College, who described all the cheering in the streets, police presence, and helicopters outside her apartment.  She ventured out and was in complete awe of the dedication of spectators who were in 36 degree rain, that could not dampen their enthusiasm.  She felt so blessed to witness this support and be a part of the magnificence of the Boston Marathon and the memory of those who suffered from the tragedy.

Connor, my youngest ( homeschooler and my blog photographer) on his 15th birthday Sunday with his new bowling bag and ball..

I am grateful for how well the birthday weekend went and the love of my family.

I am grateful that my husband’s “Boston Strong” t-shirt arrived today, as he wanted to wear it on his Vegas trip tomorrow.

I am grateful that  my husband was able to fit in a haircut for our youngest today before leaving on his trip.

I am grateful for a fun trip to the grocery store and planning meals for just the two of us for the remainder of the week.

I am grateful for a wonderful phone conversation with my sister in law.

Once again I am doing a twist on the GYPO Spring Style Challenge,

and this time it was due to not having a great pair of dark straight or skinny jeans.

To be more specific, not a pair that fit me right now.

Today’s Outfit suggestion was to embrace the Denim on Denim Trend.

This was the one that caused the most stress among the challengers and I wish I had been able to pull it of myself.

Super simple outfit and I love the choice of shoes!

This is a great example of how the rend looks, of course for those in the challenge, a pair of bright flats are more suitable for the Spring vibe…

Speaking of Spring Flats, I purchased these from Amazon just for the Spring Challenge.

My Chambray top is from Old Navy and again my bag is from Just Fab

As for my Jeans, what can I say, I am addicted to my Diane Gilman Jeans!

They never disappoint and have stretch that works for this frustrating time of weight fluctuations.

I loved this color combo and my new shoes are going to get a lot of use…

I have several ideas already for them…

If you haven’t added bright flats to your Spring Wardrobe, I highly recommend them.

Keeping it real, I added the jacket as the temperature was cool enough to warrant

it for my walk to the grocery store.

I am so grateful that I went back to bed this morning and caught up on some much needed sleep.

I am grateful for the fun of the Style Challenge and making these looks all my own.

I am grateful for the mess up and one pound weight gain from yesterday, as sometimes we can get complacent and wake up calls are good motivation.

I am grateful for the fun of going to the grocery store with my son to pick out fun marinades for Chicken, we have our two favorites and picked up two new ones as well.

I am grateful that tomorrow is Friday, it’s a long week, when you are waiting for birthday surprises for your child and I still have to wait for Sunday for most…

Let’s just say I am by nature a Rebel…

When it comes to certain things and I am finding myself being just that,

when it comes to styling looks for the GYPO Spring Style Challenge

white maxi

Today’s Outfit formula was white jeans, a sweater, black tank and scarf.

I changed it all around, I couldn’t help myself..

I wanted to finally wear this maxi that I’ve owned for two years and never worn due to it’s sheerness.

I finally got white capri leggings to wear underneath it. so couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

I knew I wanted a printed sweater, so when this when caught my eye this morning, I opted to go for color in my tank.

I’ve had this sweater for several season’s and never tire of it.

Pairing it with the cobalt is a first and all due to the challenge.

Grasping a chance to wear my beloved Ying/Yang necklace of onyx and mother of pearl, made my day.

My purse is one of my finds on Just Fab and the floral wedges are Aerosoles and no longer available.

Every time I wear these wedges I get compliments and hate that they aren’t sold anymore.

I’ve had them for a few seasons and with colors of cobalt, green and red, they are so versatile.

I am so grateful that the bowling alley made good on not ordering the balls last week in order for me to have it before my son’s birthday… He’s now getting a big surprise!

I am grateful to the mother, (Katie) who brought a card for everyone to sign for my son’s b’day at our bowling group today!

I am grateful that I talked to my two middle children away at college today, when this happens I always think, “my cup runneth over”

I am grateful for all the deliveries that arrived today, my shoes for the Spring Challenge, and surprises for my son’s birthday, which is Sunday.

Well for today’s GYPO Style Challenge it was all about

The Striped Dress and a Cardigan.

So many color ways you could make this outfit work.

Since I purchased two of the Liz Claiborne NY dresses this season,

I knew I was going to go for the bright green for this part of the challenge.

Choosing the hot pink Loft sweater I thrifted,  brought me back to me youth ,

when I rocked a more preppy version of this color combo from Izod.

Of course Lily Pulitzer is big for this color combo.

I probably could have just sported the white rope belt and forgone the necklace,

but I love this necklace from Steinmart several years ago.

Hey, I resisted being too matchy with my hot pink wedges, lol…

Preppy Izod alligator belt pink and green from the 80s retro

I  had this belt as a teen…

This is what I like about the challenge,

to take the basic outfit idea and make it completely my own version.

These were all items I had from my closet, so didn’t buy for the challenge.

Dear Readers, These pictures are clear evidence that I need to do something about my pasty winter legs!!!!

I am grateful that this cloudy day, didn’t dampen my spirit at all today!

I am grateful that planning birthday surprises for my youngest this week, are all turning out just right.

I am grateful for the fun of watching my son at his bowling lesson today in trying to increase his ball speed.

I am grateful for the fun of baking and icing cupcakes to take to the homeschool bowling group tomorrow.

Today is the First Day of the

Get Your Pretty On Spring Style Challenge

and it was so fun to see how all the participants interpreted today’s look.

The Outfit formula recommended olive or camo pants, a grey t-shirt and a colored cardigan with bright flats.

I however made it mine, by adapting for our nice warm temperatures.

The skirt A-line skirt I thrifted and love.

olive & Orange

The sunlight doesn’t clearly show the color of this Old Navy shirt as it truly is more like a fluorescent orange.

They actually named it Electric Cantaloupe.

The grey polk a dot top with white lace is one I bought last year from Old Navy.

I opted to let the day-glow color of the top stand on it’s own,

with no competition from the purse color and the lighter floral wedges worked too.

I am looking forward to getting some color on these legs of mine…

I love wedges and unfortunately have had mine for a few season’s ,

so can’t point you in the direction of these.

Dear Readers, This is my second Get Your Pretty on Challenge and I do like them a lot. It’s fun to see how everyone interprets the look. I loved one participants pairing of a teal jacket with the olive, something I might not have done without seeing how well it looked.  That’s the fun of coming up with new ways to pair things in my closet.

I am grateful for a beautiful, sunny day and sitting out on the porch hanging out with my home-schooler this afternoon.

I am grateful for a fun walk to pick up supplies to make cupcakes to take to the bowling group on Wednesday to celebrate my youngest’s 15 birthday, which is Sunday.

I am grateful for my husband’s fun surprise last night of bringing me dessert in the form of a Shirley Temple in a nice wine class made with Diet Sprite and Sugar Free Grenadine along with a bowl of a fruit melody he put together.

I am grateful for the fun of this Spring Challenge and getting outfit ideas for the next few weeks, as things are going to be busy with birthdays, and two back to back weekends of bowling competitions, followed immediately by the two away at college coming home..

That was my first thought when I let the dog out and felt the temperatures today…

When mother nature is laughing and sneaking in temps in the 40’s and 50’s,

“How does a fashionista respond? “

pink & houndstooth

This one, decided to have fun with an outfit that mimics the mix-up.

Hence the pairing of a very feminine pink with a men’s inspired houndstooth print.

Yep, that’s my sense of humor!

Something only a fashion addict who proclaims style as her artistic expression.

Triple Pinks!

What can I say, “I was nicknamed Pinky”   in high school.

Of course those were the days of Pinky Tuscadero

When I put the first layer of this outfit on,with just the sweater, skinny pants and flats,

the silhouette reminded me very much of cigarette pants in the 50’s and 60’s.

Check out Bridgitte Bardot in the 5o’s

I am sure I could have been more creative in a purse choice,

but what’s more fun than a back pack purse in a lovely blush color to cheer a woman up

to face a colder than normal Spring Day….

Dear Readers in another mix up tomorrow is schedule to reach 80, but with rain…

Mother Nature has a real sense of humor….

My sinuses are going to hate this!

I am grateful that I have a wonderful sense of humor and a fun outlet of fashion to lift my spirits.

I am grateful that I had a short chat with my son at college while he is apartment hunting for next year.

I am grateful that my sister in law will finally be going home from the rehab center tomorrow.

I am grateful that our bowling group family that are in St. Croix getting a house ready for sale, will be back in just a few weeks and that she will be attending our next Parent’s Night Out, cause we are missing them!!!!!

I am grateful to the ice cream truck for serenading my photo shoot this afternoon….nothing like taking photos with the neighbor across the street on his porch, the ice cream man and mailman all in attendance…

The hardest part of my weight gain is seeing it in photographs….

With Spring arriving and less layers I can see clearly what I haven’t wanted to face…

It’s not necessarily a bad thing, as it is motivating me to exercise more.

After a week of sinus headaches and not exercising as much as I would have liked,

I am ready to kick this into gear.

I took a walk today to get started, which is why I chose this outfit…

It’s fun to add sparkle and a scarf to boyfriend jeans to make it more feminine.

I like wearing scarves in Spring because once Summer hits our humidity makes that unappealing.

I did a faux tuck today, which actually looked better and defined my waist.

My boy-friend jeans are from last Spring and are by Just Fab.

That makes two things from there since my  purse , a bucket bag for this year’s trend is my most recent purchase

I sporting brand new sneakers that I found on clearance at Target.

I figured with my love of the Sporty Chic trend, that another pair would be helpful.

When you aren’t happy with your weight, shoes are a safe bet…

Dear Readers, On my walk I went to Burlington Coat Factory and tried on clothes, a big wake up call, so I came home from my walk and did a Fluidity ballet bar workout and a few other Pilates exercises. It was a full day of wake up calls with my weight gain as I tried on my soft pants from last year and they were tight.  Yep, I am very ready to kick this into full gear!

I am grateful for my readers comments, they helped my day of facing my weight gain.

I am grateful that I joined the Get Your Pretty on Spring Challenge and am enjoying the private Facebook page where everyone is sharing their purchases and closet finds for the challenge.

I am grateful that I had my wake up call and got right to working out!

I am grateful that my husband agreed to go for a late night walk with me to really finish this day strong.

I am grateful that despite not feeling well, that my home-schooler still managed to get his work done.

Last year around this time I  discovered the sporty chic trend and fully embraced it.

I am glad that there is no stopping the trend this Spring.

This dress is identical to a green one I wore recently.

Yes, I do buy things in multiples, no more than two , so I improved, lol.

Here is the dress, but Navy is sold out…

The purse is my newest bought for the Bucket Bag trend , Here

I searched high and low for these great sneakers, as I really wanted a pair in Navy.

I splurged on these from, as I really wanted one with a more clean look like the simple N,

I also searched for Nike with the swoosh, but had no luck.

And Converses?

Dear Readers, there are so many ways to indulge in this trend and who doesn’t like wearing comfortable shoes?

I like it so much because it totally embraces my desire for ying/yang  vibes in my outfits.

It was so fun to sport this for a long walk in 80 degree temps yesterday, of course that nice weather didn’t last and we cooled off by near 20 degrees today…

My sinuses are hating this….

Here is one way I did it last season with my floral Keds.

Notice, I am wearing my Ying/Yang necklace?

Dear Readers, May you all enjoy a fabulous Easter Weekend. I will be missing my two away at college tremendously this weekend, but such is the way of life…..

I am grateful for a sneak peak at warm temperatures.

I am grateful that my son took a walk with me yesterday, I cherish that so much, as I loved walking with my father.

I am grateful that my daughter called to share her fun experience at the Anime Boston Conference wearing her costume that we spent her Spring Break creating.  She was Elsa and her boyfriend was Jack Frost and they had several people stop them to take their photo.

I am grateful that my sister in law has such a wonderful sense of humor and is taking all the chaos of  being at a rehab center after foot surgery to remove Mercer.

I am grateful for my faith and thank my parents profusely for walking the walk, not just talking about it!

With today, being such a gorgeous spring day, I couldn’t help but embrace it through clothing…

After all fashion is my current artistic expression.

Last Spring I wanted dark floral pants, but never got them as I just never found a pair that sang to me.

This navy version from Ebay sang to me due to the price, since I wasn’t really sure floral pants were going to me something I loved.  When it comes to trends I want to try, but am not immediately sold on, I tend to do so very cautiously , spending the least amount of money I can.

I must say that with Asian sizing I bought the XL and they have a lot of stretch. The XL size chart listed it at 37 inches for hips and I am at 39.  I might have been able to manage in the Large, especially with my new push to lose weight…

My poncho and necklace were also purchased from Ebay, but last year so not available.

Since the day was so beautiful and my sinus meds had kicked, I decided to take advantage that my homeschooler was off with my husband doing his private bowling lesson, and headed for a walk to the Dollar Tree.

A cross-body purse was in order, so what better one to choose than my Harold Feinstein blue butterfly one, as it is one I bought in remembrance of my mother, who comes to me in butterflies.

I bought mine from QVC,  a few years ago and after searching found a few options on Ebay, here.

It was so nice to get out of the house after two days of sitting in my pj’s with sinus issues..

This is typical March for me, where mornings are rough and things get better later in the day.

I am glad I took a chance on these floral pants and really liked them a lot more than I thought I would.

Dear Readers, Have you tried the Floral trend or do you intend to?

I am grateful for a wonderful day of walking in the sunshine and remembering my mother as she was such a big walker.

I am grateful that I started my son on a speed reading course for homeschooling today, in hopes we can increase his speed in the next few years to get him ready for college.

I am grateful for my strong faith and knowing without a doubt that I am here to be a light in this world.

I am grateful for my blog and how much writing this gratitude journal has increased my happiness levels these last few years.

Today’s Inspiration is :

-"Young Girl Reading a Book on the Beach" Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) I wish I could even begin to incorporate this technique into my own. It's been done by thousands, but I would still love it. Maybe I'll try.

“Young Girl Reading a Book on the Beach”

When I looked at this one,

my first instincts were to create a look with grey and a denim jacket..

Linking up with Visible Monday, Go See What other  wonderful bloggers are up to…

I liked the muted shades in this shirt as yet another reflection

of Picasso’s inspiration.

I love this classic denim jacket in the light wash , which I thrifted.

In fact, both of my denim jackets are thrifted….

Looking forward to losing a few more pounds and feeling better in these pants…

Well, my Dear Readers, I have lost a total of 7lbs these last two weeks and am definitely motivated bythat success to continue to my ultimate goal of losing another 20 to get below what I was when I stopped Weight Watchers…It’s only 5 lbs less, but I think I will be much happier to get there to 135 as my goal…The 140 never felt right to me… I just am so frustrated that I let myself gain so much back…I am determined to reach my goal of getting this under control by my 50th birthday in September and to never let it get out of control again…Maintenance really is the hardest part of the journey and I am very determined… Anyone who knows me will agree that I will win this battle once I put my mind to it.

I am grateful for a second week of weight loss success…

I am grateful for a weekend of putting away my heavy coats and taking out and organizing my Spring/Summer items.

I am grateful for the fun of discovering St. Patrick’s Day hats for clearance at my grocery store, where I bought silly hats for the guys and a clover ball gap for me to wear, not just in March…

I am grateful for Spring temperatures and Sunshine.

I am grateful for conversation with my daughter and hearing my stressed out Grad Student, planning to bake a cake from a partner for her group project since they had to schedule on her birthday to work on the project.. Baking is something my daughter loves to do and I know it will make for a break in her stressful schedule..
