Today’s Inspiration is :
“Young Girl Reading a Book on the Beach”
When I looked at this one,
my first instincts were to create a look with grey and a denim jacket..
Linking up with Visible Monday, Go See What other wonderful bloggers are up to…
I liked the muted shades in this shirt as yet another reflection
of Picasso’s inspiration.
I love this classic denim jacket in the light wash , which I thrifted.
In fact, both of my denim jackets are thrifted….
Looking forward to losing a few more pounds and feeling better in these pants…
Well, my Dear Readers, I have lost a total of 7lbs these last two weeks and am definitely motivated bythat success to continue to my ultimate goal of losing another 20 to get below what I was when I stopped Weight Watchers…It’s only 5 lbs less, but I think I will be much happier to get there to 135 as my goal…The 140 never felt right to me… I just am so frustrated that I let myself gain so much back…I am determined to reach my goal of getting this under control by my 50th birthday in September and to never let it get out of control again…Maintenance really is the hardest part of the journey and I am very determined… Anyone who knows me will agree that I will win this battle once I put my mind to it.
Gratitude
I am grateful for a second week of weight loss success…
I am grateful for a weekend of putting away my heavy coats and taking out and organizing my Spring/Summer items.
I am grateful for the fun of discovering St. Patrick’s Day hats for clearance at my grocery store, where I bought silly hats for the guys and a clover ball gap for me to wear, not just in March…
I am grateful for Spring temperatures and Sunshine.
I am grateful for conversation with my daughter and hearing my stressed out Grad Student, planning to bake a cake from a partner for her group project since they had to schedule on her birthday to work on the project.. Baking is something my daughter loves to do and I know it will make for a break in her stressful schedule..

This new schedule of getting up early for my walks is starting to wear on me.
I know it’s just an adjustment period as I get use to new hours.
I am hoping that by next week I can actually sleep until my alarm instead of waking up an hour earlier…
My Mood Dressing Tendency and wanting to spice things up produced today’s outfit choice
It was a very Windy Day, so much so I had to change which side of the tree I stood on..
I wanted to feel spunky today, so hence the skirted legging , leopard and red..
Heeled boots would have felt more sassy, but let’s face it,
going to jump at Cloud 9 at age 49 is bound to have repercussions…
I don’t feel my age, but there are times…
Just for fun this was our first photo attempt and that’s with part of my hair pulled into a barrette…
I’ve had this silk leopard blouse forever and love it…It was actually a gift from my sister-in-law.
I typically have worn more animal print in previous winters than I did this season, but not to worry I have leopard pointed toe flats new for Spring that I plan to wear a lot…
The outfit did it’s job today and did give me the feeling I was hoping for…
I have to say I am loving the skirted legging trend and can’t wait to show my second pair
that has a patterned skirt… They are perfect for Spring!
Mine are by Legacy via QVC and Here is their current offerings
Dear Readers, I had another reality smack in the face today when I went to add my beloved Rachel Zoe red trench to this outfit for my walk to the store when it was pulled tight across my hip , so I wore it unbuttoned at the bottom..
This just motivates me more as I bought that trench in 3 colors for and plan to have them for a long time. No way I am not losing this extra now, 15lbs…
Gratitude
I am grateful that I managed my morning walk before the soreness set in.
I am grateful for a lazy day with my boys who both were worn out and sore from Cloud 9..It was a PJ day for them!
I am grateful for the fun of watching college basketball with my son this week as his team is in the A10 tournament. I should add I am grateful to learn more about a new sport that I don’t know much about.Another game tomorrow for a total of 3 this week.
I am grateful for the extra motivation of my too tight trench today, it means I will stay the course over the weekend.
I am grateful for a chance to make my sister-in-law smile when I call her and tell her I still have and love this blouse.
I am grateful that Friday is a planned day off from morning walks and look forward to a day of rest.
Olive Vest, 2nd Showing…

Here is take two of the Olive vest that I coveted and finally ordered from Kohl’s
I knew after wearing this with a skirt, that my next pairing was going to be with this polk a dot dress thrifted dress. While on the topic of thrifting, the purse and shoes are also thrifted.. Great example of merging thrifted items with new purchases.
This outfit has that perfect blend of lady-like feel with the stiletto heels and the ruffled bottom on the dress to make me feel like dancing.
Even better is the Ying?Yang feeling I so crave to balance the lady-like features , provided by the more masculine utility vest.
When I get that blend of femininity and masculinity going in my outfit, is when I feel the most like myself. I worried about how to make this work for warmer months and really love this look. “I really nailed it” is what keeps coming to mind. If only I could feel this good in every look I create.
I am a stay at home mother, so this look isn’t practical for my every day life, but whenever I can this is the real me, not a role I play!
Dear Readers, Do you have a signature combo that you put together that makes you feel most like your insides match your outsides? If so, what is it and how do you create it? I so embrace both the fact that I am a strong, confident woman with my sassy, yet sophisticated feminine side. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday, did you do anything special?
Gratitude
I am grateful that my husband had July 4th off!
I am gratefult that the guys went go-carting, to golf driving range and then we met up for dinner and the movie “Now You See Me”, a full day of fun!
My husband and I are both surprised and grateful that we were all on the same page about our day’s activities and skipping the fireworks,
I am grateful that today, July 5th is my daughter’s 22nd birthday today and for the chance to celebrate her.
I am grateful to my husband for reinstating our nightly walks (when he gets home early enough) and combined with two on my own, that’s 4 walks in three days and I am feeling it.
Weigh In Day
Posted July 2, 2013
on:So Tuesday is my Weight Watcher meeting and Weigh In… I mentioned that I had gained over two pounds overnight and was surprised by that on Monday morning… For the weigh in I was up exactly one pound from the previous weigh in…So no complaints here…
Linking up Today with TransAtlantic Blonde and What I Wore Wednesday and Tres Chic
I have been very frustrated with this last part of the weight loss journey, as I had told myself I didn’t want to be as thin as I had been before I began gaining. I see pictures and didn’ t like how thin my face was. I am now a size 6 and in many brands, I can wear a size 4 as well. So somebody please help me understand why that is the highest acceptable weight for my height?… Why when I used the Navy’s military BMI calculator that I was in the acceptable range, but just .3 away from obese? …this one asked for lots of measurements including your neck…I just want to be at a place where I feel healthy and that I can maintain for the rest of my life…
Just needed to vent about that.. I do want to be more in the middle of the healthy requirements for my height and will do so, but had to get real and mad about the fact that I will be a size 4 by goal weight and be shopping for all new clothes… or mostly new bottoms…Quite Frankly, I have been pouting… That ends today!
I am going to kick it in to gear by joining the YMCA next week. I loved the membership we had before and went three times a week doing all water exercizes and loving it… I did 2.5 to 3 hours in the pool three times a week… I am a lover of exercise, more so for strength training than cardio. I have been doing well with strength training at home, but need the Y for the cardio because ,although I love exercize, I hate to sweat… so back to the pool I go…Should lose these last pounds pretty quickly…
Love this thrifted skirt and silhouette. The top is by Chadwicks’ bought two years ago, back then diddn’t fit , but hey I prepared ahead for this weight loss… Shoes from Payless last year and Purse is by Liz Claiborne NY for QVC. I would so wear skirts everday if that didn’t get boring fast and let’s face it , if you’ve been following my blog at all , you can tell I love to vary silhouettes.
Dear Readers, I have really let my weight loss journey stall for more months than I care to confess, but am done pouting and ready to lose those last pounds and move on with it. I am just so grateful to be where I am now and to have had the success and support to get this far! I appreciate the support I receive here from you all as well. Thank You! I also want to thank those who commented about my missing my mother and sharing their own journeys of Dementia and Alzheimer’s!
Gratitude
I am grateful to my niece for taking my photos today, trying to fit it in between the rain showers!
I am grateful for my WW meeting, leader and the contributions members make by sharing their stories .
I am grateful to my friend Sue, for the company and rides to meetings as well as being my partner in crime (thrifting) Going to miss you these next two weeks while you are out of town.
I am grateful to my daughter for her kindess to my niece and talking her through the Xbox game!
I am grateful to my youngest for joining her and playing the game and even letting her win!!!
I am grateful to my husband who is home early tonight for asking me to join him in a Power Walk, which I am going to go do Right Now! ( Went for an hour and felt great, perfect cooler temp!)
Movie Poster Inspiration- Star Wars

This is day 2 of the Movie Poster Inspiration Challenge on You LOOK FAB Forum this forum is the most supportive place if you are developing your style and want to ask opinions and the blog innovator Angie has the best articles on trends and outfit Inspirations.
This movie was an all time favorite of mine. I watched it with my father who passed away a year or so after this, before any of the others were made. Each time I went to the remainder of this series I thought of my father and how in awe we all were over the original one… A cherished memory!
I was inspired by this classic outfit worn by none other than Luke Skywalker.
I have had this tunic for almost four years and love the heck out of it… the funny thing is that I use to wear it with light tan pants more fitting with the inspiration… Fortunately I no longer fit into those pants and don’t currently own any in that color (note to self, correct that!)
I totally humored my husband and wore these shoes again at his request.. After all he was nice enough to take my photos… Besides with temps near 80 boots were not at all going to happen!!! I did resist the urge to get the boys light sabers and have one of them dress up in the Darth Vader costume for a duel photo… I am thinking when we go to the beach house in Nags Head in August that we should bring the movies and watch them in the evenings...
Found this photo of Connor my youngest in Walmart trying on Darth Vader, we have a great costume but couldn’t find a quick pick of my husband or son’s wearing it. This one was easy as it was on the Iphone…
Dear Readers, Are you a Star Wars lover? Any memories to share? Would love to hear them! As promised my food journal continues.. I have to mention that I eat things in cycles like this week a lot of salad greens, while next week I will make a great vegetable casserole that lasts me days… I don’t mind doing this but wonder if that much repetition is boring to others? Come Back tomorrow for “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” Inspiration!
Gratitude: I am grateful for a beautiful sunny day! I am grateful for feeling better and going to my WW meeting after three weeks of stomach bugs and sinus infection… I am grateful for love and my strong faith!
Food Journal- This is my Plan for Tuesday
Breakfast: Protein Bar & Grapes (eaten at WW meeting after weigh-in)
Lunch: 2 Laughing Cow cheese wedges & Apple (out thrifting after the meeting)
Dinner: Omelet w. mushrooms, onions & lowfat cheese & watermelon
Snack: Yogurt & few pieces of fajita steak
Keeping myself accountable is one of the main reasons I chose Weight Watchers as my vehicle to lose weight (along with no foods being off limit) and writing my choices on the blog is really upping the anty… This has me thinking if there were other bloggers who might add this to their daily post to keep them honest and accountable? Not a blogger, how about posting it on your Facebook and get support that way.. Need more privacy what about choosing just one friend and doing a private message on Facebook or e-mail… Something to think about?
