With the cold and actually SNOWY DAY(remember not en every year occurrence here in Virginia Beach), and my MESSED UP SINUSES,  I opted not to do outfit photos.  Hope you enjoy this , though and come back tomorrow for another installment of my Red-Orange Skinny Jeans!

I think as a woman you use to  either really like animal print or you steer completely away from it. That seems like it is changing and more women are getting braver o evn just dipping their toes into  it with accessories.   I didn’t like animal print so much when I was younger.  I had a leopard print sweater that my sister gave me and I wore it, but never really loved it.  I was given a beautiful silk blouse many years ago by my sister-in-law and although I didn’t wear it, I couldn’t  part ways with it either.  Glad now that I kept it as it is the one pictured below…

Then my forties hit and I guess you could say I got of f the fence and am now a full fledged animal print junkie… I am not a one trick pony either:

Dear Readers, If I had to choose a favorite I would have to say that like everything in my world, it is subject to change.  If you had asked me last year my answer would have been leopard or cheetah.  Right now I have to say I am really partial to the zebra print.  I think it is the high contrast between the black and white that are so appealing to me right now.  Now time for you to chime in, do you like animal print and if so are you like me with a variety or is there one you really love and stick to?  Do you wear it in clothing or stick to using it for accessorizing?

Gratitude:  I am grateful to my husband for surprising me yesterday afternoon with a new extended mantle he insisted we install before lighting a fire , after hanging the TV above the fireplace.  I am grateful for the added warmth of the fire  and the fun the boys had making s’mores.  I am grateful that after beginning Tom Sawyer today, that Connor seems interested enough to continue without me having to push too hard…I am grateful for the snow this morning(that didn’t stay, but left a light dusting for a little while) and the delight of Connor as he watched it falling and the text I received from Nicholas(17) while in study hall, as he was enjoying watching it as well.. I am grateful that the school allowed the phones this year as I enjoy getting texts from Nicholas when he is gone all day!  I am grateful for the teacher staff day and looking forward to spending the day with both younger boys…

I am such a feminine woman most of the time, but every once in awhile I really like to channel my inner tough girl, rock star… That reminds me of one of my favorite songs as a teenager by REO Speedwagon. “Tough Guys”.  For those of you not blessed with ADD you may not get the tough girl connection to that song, but an ADD brain can connect any two things and that one was close enough to make sense… You should see my husband scratch his head and ask, “how did you make that leap?”

I think for every woman feeling tough involves different things, for me it’s leather and this time snakeskin jeggings…

I really love my new burgundy moto jacket that I purchased recently from Forever 21.  I chose the burgundy instead of black because the black just didn’t feel like me and felt more harsh.  This color just felt right.  I also liked a green one I saw as well and really wavered.  Burgundy won out since I don’t have as much of that color in my wardrobe as I would like.

This tassel necklace is from Avon and I am not sure if it is still available because I purchased it several months ago and if my memory serves me correctly it was out of a clearance catalog.  I hope to get a lot of use out of this necklace because I love the length and it does a lot to fill in the space and is a good way to lengthen my petite body.  I think anything that creates that long vertical line helps, which is why I am so partial to scarfs.

IMG_0780I felt so good in this outfit and have real love for these boots.  They are by Twiggy London via HSN.  I regret not taking a photo to show you the purple bottom on these.  They are fur lined so really for colder weather.   The best part about wearing this outfit was when my 17 year old told me he wouldn’t be embarrassed if he ran into a friend while we were out shopping…It doesn’t take much to embarrass our children, so I had to ask…

I wear sunglasses a lot as my eyes are light and sun sensitive and can lead to headaches very easily…

Gratitude:  I am grateful for the holiday season and the chance to spend quality time with my children.   I am grateful for the fun of putting up the tree with Nicholas for the first time (something Ashley and I traditionally have done)….I am grateful for my newfound energy to kick up the exercise and my commitment to reaching goal weight. Today I am traveling to Farmville, VA to pick my daughter up from Longwood University for winter break and I am grateful for the road trip with my husband and sons, as well as the beginning of several weeks with my daughter!

Dear Readers your comments are welcomed and greatly appreciated..

Just have to say so glad today is Friday.  This week I just have not been sleeping well and that makes  for a less focused me…I think I should have just done what my high-schooler does and nap everyday… He literally comes home gets a snack and passes out on the couch in the den.  Tv and conversations all around him don’t matter a bit. I would need to be in the dark bedroom with a fan for noise to sleep and am quite jealous that he can doze off so quickly.  Hope my sleep pattern just goes back to something better next week..

Half price days at the Salvation Army are fun…. They even opened the doors 15 minutes early for us.  Tried on a lot of clothes this time and put back most of them.  It is hard to buy clothes knowing that my weight loss will continue.  It really shouldn’t be this difficult to commit when the items are never more than $3.50.… I will have to replace an entire wardrobe by the time I get to my goal, which is hard since I had leather blazers and things I really love.  As I get close to my goal, I will not be thrifting and just making one replacement purchase per week. What I am looking forward to is after Christmas sales since I should be reaching my goal in January.  Good way to replace major things in an economical way.

I did pick up two skirts and I really like them both.  The brown plaid kilt really appeals to my Scottish heritage.  As a child my mother always made sure I had kilts and I have such fond memories of them.  Of course back then, I wore more the classic navy and green paid or green with a thin line of red and yellow… This brown one really said Fall to me and I can see fitting it into my style. I am happy to say this one is too tight and should be perfect for my goal weight!

In the past two years, I have really embraced color into my style and this yellow plaid skirt really appealed to me..I love the A-line and pleats on this one and can’t wait to wear this one, but need to loose just a tad more weight to feel comfortable in this one..

Can’t go wrong with a snakeskin print dress!  I know I’ve said this before, but I could wear dresses and skirts daily, I just love  feeling feminine, flirty and sassy.  I will probably say this again in the near future….A big thank you to my thrifting partner who discovered this dress.

I styled this dress with a black jacket and boots just for fun, but left out my face, as today I was dealing with migraines and didn’t look so great…

These two jackets were  recent eBay purchases in an effort to get shorter jackets  to work for my petite height..

I love this chocolate color and the fit is great!  It is a duplicate of a green one I wore previously.

This black one is the one pictured above with the snakeskin dress.  I love that it is casual and even has a hood. I think I spent about $15 on this with free shipping.

Last of all is these green reptile Nine West pumps.  I see these for warmer months, but when thrifting you snag the good stuff when you see it and don’t always purchase in season.

I think I will not thrift at all next week to save my budget for a faux black leather moto jacket.  it has been on my wish list and will be a lot better investment.  Of course I will have to buy it tight, in anticipation of my future weight loss. I really can’t wait to hit my goal weight and not have to worry about this anymore.. I am so going to celebrate reaching my goal!

Gratitude- I am grateful for the weekend and a break from blogging and homeschooling.  I am also grateful for the opportunity to relax and hang out with friends.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
