Since I began the week with such a bold color blocked look, I decided today to go in the complete opposite direction this time:
These neutrals definitely have a different feeling and I quite like it. I have often said that I could never do a thirty by thirty challenge, as I could never restrict my shoe selections and in this season, my boots. I wonder how many of my boots I will use in this challenge? I suspect by the end of winter most of them will come out to play with these jeans…
I think this look demonstrates where I like to save money by thrifting and where I prefer to splurge and spoil myself . The lace top in this look and the Aigner purse are both thrifted from Goodwill for a total of just $6.50. Those boots are ones I stalked for months and purchased last year on sale. Most girls that live in the south like to have at least one boot in this style and I haven’t had a pair in probably 15 years when I wore out my previous ones…
This sweater is by Dennis Basso via QVC and more than I usually spend on sweaters, but I really loved it and spoiled myself on it. Right now it is still clearanced HERE, but only available in smaller sizes, check out the other colors it comes in! I wear a size 6 have a 38 inch chest if that helps and ordered mine in XS. As I mentioned before most QVC designers run larger….
I also chose to pair my mother’s pearls with this lace top for a romantic vibe and my gold bracelet and earrings. The gold flower was also my mother’s and I just attached it to the pearl strand.
Dear Readers, a special note that I do not receive any compensation for my recommendations from anyone! Today’s look is so different from the boldness of yesterday’s cobalt top. I hope you come back tomorrow to see, yet another look with these fabulous colored jeans!
Gratitude:
Well, the flu has hit my household so my gratitude is low today… I am grateful that I began this challenge and had a few post pre-written for today and tomorrow. I am also grateful that my photos are done through Friday….I am grateful that my daughter and son seem to have very mild case and might not even be the full flu…(My daughter heads back to college on Wednesday)
As Always, your comments are welcomed and greatly appreciated…
If you have read my previous posts, you know that I am on a weight loss journey and for the first time realizing that I have been making mistakes regarding dressing my 5’3″ body. There really aren’t too many petite bloggers out there who aren’t also very thin. Dressing a curvier body that is also petite is an art form and a challenge I am coming to terms with. Today’s outfit is not a silhouette I am familiar with. You see I love tunics, leggings and boots. That combination makes me look shorter and let’s face it heavier. So in the interest of learning from my mistakes and my new-found realization that my mirror has been lying to me and the camera is telling the truth, this is my first conscious attempt at change.
These photos are courtesy of my 16 year old son’s IPHONE, so not the best quality…
I chose a shorter top, one that hits me right at the hip bone. I also chose flats instead of succumbing to my addiction for boots. Not an easy task as, we just this week saw cool enough temperatures to qualify for wearing boots. I must say that I will wear my boots a lot this winter, I will just adjust the way I do so. In any previous posts involving pants, I have opted for leggings or jeggings. So, I chose a pair of corduroys this time. These were a pair I had purchased a few years ago and had never worn because they ran small and didn’t fit. One of the benefits of weight loss!
I like this silhouette. You can’t see my shoes very well, so here is a picture of them. They are Aerosoles and the most comfortable pair I own. To take this look up a notch for a casual date with my husband, I would switch out the flats for red heels. I added a picture of the heels, since I forgot to take a photo wearing them.
Last is my red ruffle coat that I purchased for a great deal off season last year. This is the first chance I had to wear it. Another curse of being petite is contending with hemming the sleeves, which I have yet to do. Will be done before I wear this again.
There is just something about the red and brown combo that makes me think of fall. Is there a color combo that means fall to you? Please share your combos, who knows maybe I will attempt some of them

Wide Leg Ankle Pants

I never thought I would experiment with wide leg ankle pants, but these went on sale for a good price and I thought I should just give it a try. Of course, I had to attempt this look in a bright pink color. Why not, if I am doing this, might as well do it in a big way. I think I always steered away from the idea of this because I thought my petite height wouldn’t let me pull this off. I think it worked out and am glad I was brave enough to go for it.
In the interest of total honesty between you my readers and myself, I have a confession to make. These pants fit better before I lost over 20lbs and in fact are I have over 2 inches of spare room in the waist. I love them and just really wanted a chance to photograph them before I have to put them aside. Don’t know if my tailor can work magic to alter these when I get to my goal weight, but it doesn’t hurt to ask….
The good news is that when these pants went on an even lower clearance price I snatched them up in my goal weight size in a orange/coral color!
I am not sure what it is about sitting poses, but I really seem to like them. Can you believe we were at 84 degrees with 94% humidity that made it feel really muggy yesterday? I am so craving crisp fall weather. We’ve had a few glimpses, but when will it be here to stay?
