Embracing Trends through Color
Posted September 2, 2014
on:Each Season there are so many new Trends and No one can or should follow them all…
I love looking through the magazines and online to see which ones I might embrace anew or already fit with things I already own…
The Easiest Way to feel apart of the trends is through color…
For Fall 2014 There seems to be two colors that I am really drawn to….
Grey is the first one and one I already love…
I have a great grey leather jacket I found at the Wilson’s outlet and wore last season.
With my love of color, I tend to pair other shades with grey, but love the simplicity of all one color in outfits I’ve been seeing on Pinterest..
Perhaps a style shift is on it’s way…
I also picked up these grey riding boots last season….
I ordered these from Old Navy this weekend..
I also added this striped sweatshirt last month from JCP and it’s now sold out, but
Here’s another option… or solid grey here…
This top also fits in nicely with the sporty trend as well…
I have a real love of all shades of green and quite a bit in this color , so no new purchases necessary….
In fact many years ago, I use to own a green leather sofa…
I think this color feels like a warm cocoon to me personally, as it was my father’s favorite color.
This Outfit was my birthday present to myself last September… I checked and it’s no longer available
I didn’t wear the jacket and pumps nearly as much as I should have and vow to change that this season..
Greens from brights, to olive and deep forest are all very in for the season.
Striped Dresses are all the buzz as well….
These soft tones of the season are lovely and there are some days when the calming vibe they evoke are just the ticket…
I hope to try to embrace all one color in outfits like this…
I think the peachy nude is attainable with items already in my closet..
Here’s Pantone’s top colors of the Season….
.
Check out the New Arrivals at Old Navy and notice the Oranges, Greens, Burgundy and Grey…
Dear Readers, What trends are you looking forward to adding into your style for the cooler weather?
Did you do any Labor Day Shopping?
I shopped at old Navy for the grey pants pictured above and this jacket for my husband
It’s hard to imagine cooler weather with this heat wave we have going on in the upper 80’s and 90’s with high humidity….
Gratitude
I am grateful that the information my daughter received regarding her apartment were wrong… She was told that she didn’t have a closet in her room and she has lots of clothes, after all she is my daughter….
I am grateful that my husband noticed the battery going low and took care of it immediately to make sure the drive home from Boston was uneventful…
I am grateful that most of my daughter’s room was put together before the guys had to leave to get Nicholas back to VCU for his 2:00 class on Tuesday…
I am grateful that when the trailer came off the van as they began their journey home, that it didn’t roll into anything and cause damage to it or someone else’s property. I am also grateful to the college kids who jumped in to help put it back on…
I am grateful that my husband was able to go back to his parent’s house to get a piece to fix the problem with the trailer since all stores were closed…
I am grateful for the two days of solidarity, good timing before beginning to homeschool for high school…
I am grateful that as I type this my guys are around DC heading to drop Nicholas in Richmond and that everyone has had some sleep.

I am definitely loving the monochromatic neutrals and those greens are gorgeous. I have added several olive and cypress items to my fall/winter wardrobe….some shades of grays too. Already had an olive purse that I rarely carried in the past, but I love it and plan to get more use out of it.
Trying to steer away from oranges, mustards and burgundies as I don’t feel like they suit me well….although I do have a couple of orange sweaters and also a mustard one that I may still wear…layered perhaps with a cardigan to cut down the color a bit. ? Not sure on that yet.
Love the last photo with your green jacket, shoes, and striped dress.

Your comment, “I think this color feels like a warm cocoon to me personally, as it was my father’s favorite color” resonated with me. That’s how I feel when I wear a denim jacket as my daddy wore jean jackets a lot. I always look forward to Autumn so that I can wear my denim jacket. I just get too hot in the summer, even in air-conditioning, to wear it. Green looks great on you! Makes me think of your Ireland trip!
