Versatile Style by Tracey

I have had the same hairstylist for the past 10 years,

so I went in and said, “Darker Please”.

Without skipping a beat, he replied “Auburn” and so began my hair appointment…

hair 2

I am smitten and cannot stop smiling!

My mother was a natural redhead and I always had

auburn highlights in my brown hair, more so in Summer.

My sister would frequently ask me all the time if I saw her red highlights,

even well into adulthood, we both cherished it.

After my mother’s passing, I began going all shades of red.

What began as a fun way to honor my mother, has now become a fun memory of my sister.

I originally planned grey jeans with this look, but at the last

I switched to the white and am so glad I did.

It was in the high 80’s today and the darker jeans would have

felt off for my mood and for the season we are actually in, lol

Earth Nubuck Western Detailed Mules - Mendon - Page 1 — QVC.com

These new Mules by Earth are absolutely the most comfortable heels I own,

they have great cushioning and I do not want to take them off.

They come in four colors and are now on sale for $68. 32

Every photo I took here, had my vest blowing in the wind, lol

Gratitude

I am grateful for a beautiful sunny day, and for Air Conditioning in this Fall heat!

I am grateful for a better night’s sleep.

I am grateful for a wonderful hair stylist that I trust completely!

I am grateful for my hair salon being near a Panera and a fabulous lunch!

I am grateful to my youngest son (18) who is my photographer to step and use the nice camera instead of the cell phone, now that I am really back to blogging!

As a lover of Skirts that swish when I walk,

I have to say wide leg pants offer that same sense of fun!

After seeing one of my Style Sisters with leopard print ones,

I began my search for a pair, literally dreaming

about the endless ways to style them!

I found them on eBay, Ralph Lauren new with tags!

I love eBay for brands I know and have

had success with searches like this.

Once my temperatures arrive I will do a post

with several ways to style them!

In playing with them, I have found so many colors I love \with them including mustard, navy, orange, and burgundy.

Have you tried wide leg pants, do you like them?

If the idea of leopard pants appeal to you for versatility,

Perhaps try googling Jogger style as I saw those more.

My new Fall Nail Color!

Both Navy and Grey are on trend for the season.

These are a fabulous blue-grey with gold glitter.

Gratitude

Grateful that my sinus issues improved!

Thanks for Stopping By, Have a Wonderful Day!

Well, this look is close to a formula of my last outfit…

Striped top and open kimono…

But all striped tops are not created equal….

These stripes are gold sparkly thread.

img_4427

My sincerest apologies as the lighting is not the best to show the glittery gold stripes.

Today I went out to lunch with two very dear friends and before we knew it was almost 5;30,

so pictures were taken at dusk

dsc_4100

I retook this inside in hopes of showing the gold stripes.

I am again wearing two necklaces, my Honora  pearl choker is currently

on clearance for just $39,99

I purchased this sweater back in September on clearance from

Loft for just $18, like I said before, you have

to love when Loft or Ann Taylor does extra off clearance prices,

this one was at 60% of the clearance price.

img_4434

This is my first time wearing what I consider my score of the Season!

I had fallen in love with these Same Edelman Okala ankle pump ,

as they’ve been all over blogs and my style forum sites.

They were over $100 when they first came on the scene and out of my reach

for pumps since I am a stay at home mother who doesn’t have occasions to wear them often.

I stalked them all over the internet and when they went on clearance at HSN for $$49.99

I was delighted because they actually had my size 7.5.

Amazon has them HERE in limited sizes.

img_4437

As much as I LOVE color, I also  adore black and white outfits.

In fact I say in my head every time I put outfits of black and white together,

“Black and White is always Right!”

I simply can’t help but notice these shoes in this photo and am over the moon that I finally own them.

My Dear Readers, Have you ever stalked something and been delighted to have it go down into your price range?

If so, share in the comments what it was and if you still feel the same after owning it awhile or

perhaps if you have you own ” Score of the Season”  What would it be???

Gratitude

I am grateful for a wonderful lunch with two dear friends and plans to start a monthly lunch with any friends who can make it.

I am also grateful to have made plans to go see a play next month, as I love the theater and our city’s one at the beach is such fun.

I am grateful that DH’s last words before he went out this morning was to shout , ” Have a great lunch! ”

I am grateful that we are scheduling a cruise for next year back to Bermuda and that more women are joining us for the adventure.

I have this real love of pattern in my outfits,

and one that I love is anything in black and white.

I’ve had this zebra print jean jacket for awhile and never tire of it.

It might just have been the beginning of my love of black and white patterns.

DSC_3330-2

Black and white with pops of any color leads to so many outfit

opportunities and that’s why I now own lots of options for that.

I have polka dot cardigan, pants and a skirt.

I also have a black and white aztec cardigan that makes a big impact.

I like having pieces of each category meaning, bottoms, tops and toppers in the black and white prints

and even added a pair of houndstooth print shoes as another option.

I highly encourage you my dear readers to evaluate your wardrobe and see if adding a touch of any black and white print in say a pair of pants or a shoe are in order to add versatility into your style?

DSC_3323-4

My hair started off like this….

DSC_3325-4

Then in seconds, onto this

DSC_3326-2

And even this, with my jacket blowing open, lol.

I get a kick out of photos my young photographer catches like this.

And promptly thought I always hope I have hair to blow in the wind

and don’t go to shorter haircuts as I age, lol…

DSC_3334-2

I broke out my Diane Gilman trouser jeans for this look.

This was actually Tuesday’s outfit as I am behind.

DSC_3336

This along with a salad was my dinner Tuesday night and a family favorite.

It’s barbecue chicken breast layered with slices of tomato, bacon and topped with

sharp cheddar that has been put in the oven on broil to melt.

Over the years I’ve discovered I like grilling the chicken plain, then dumping it into a

bowl of the barbecue sauce to coat it for more barbecue flavor that doesn’t melt off in the cooking.

I eat it in this dish, but my guys pile it on a nice roll for a sandwhich!

Looking for some white dishes like this to make individual dishes , Here is what I found at Amazon.

Gratitude

I am grateful for a fabulous , fun Wednesday spent with great people for lunch, a walk at Mt. Trashmore and the bowling clinic.

I am grateful for the women in my life and friendships that enrich my spirit.

I am grateful to my husband’s dear friend who met him for lunch yesterday and brought him Irish Soda Bread, tasted just like the beloved scones we ate daily in Ireland!

I am grateful that after having a few bites of the bread, my dear husband asked me if I wanted to go for a late night walk and is supporting my wanting to lose this menopausal weight gain.

I am grateful for quality time on our hour long late night walk.

I am grateful to my son away at college who had a wonderful surprise package waiting for his younger brother when we returned from our day of adventure.  It was  a wonderful Star Wars poster for the redecorating we are doing of his room. I love this relationship between my two youngest!

I am grateful that when we were in the car on our way to the second bowling of the day, that my son away at college called to talk to his brother and asked to be put on speaker phone to share his funny adventure with our rabbit that he has at school with him… She jumped up on his bed right into his plate of curry chicken, turned herself orange and had to be bathed, lol.

And Oh Yeah, Happy ST. Patrick’s Day!

I’ll post my Green Outfit Later this afternoon…

The Brooch is coming back into Style,

and I’ve worn a few of my mothers on a necklace and on my boho w

raps. DSC_3106-2 (1)

I felt like a Zen neutral look for the day…

It’s still has enough interest for me with the hi-low contrast of the different shades of tan and brown

and the subtle print in the Old Navy sweater and the Snakeskin bag.

DSC_3098-3

A close up of my mother’s pin.

I love having her pieces to cherish and wear , not to just keep in my jewelry box.

Check out JodiesTouchofStyle blog for ways they are wearing brooches this week.

I’ve wanted a Joan Rivers Bee Brooch for a long time and finally caved in buying one this week, when I saw this one on Instagram as a memorial one for Joan.

DSC_3097-2

I am so glad I found this open poncho on Jane.com,

as it’s become a favorite this season.

I really need to taper off my addiction of looking at Jane.com daily as I see

so many things I love and the pressure to buy since they go away or sell out so quickly.

I’ve recently bought some tops for Summer in Yellow, Coral and Light Blue (Serenity, Pantone’s color of the Year)

Self Care

I am proud to say it’s day four of owning my Aeropilates and I’ve used it everyday.

I am actually looking forward to it daily, as one of my goals was to have a strong back and abs to help with my sciatica,

and these workouts definitely are going to strengthen those areas.

In addition, upon the recommendation of a friend who has had success with this,

I began adding Collagen  to help with joint pain I was having in my knee and hip, but also to help with my nails , which have always broken due to housework, lol.

Dear Readers , What are you doing lately for Self Care?  Wishing you a wonderful weekend with something fun on you to do list to recharge you to face another week!

Gratitude

I am grateful that my homeschooler took the initiative to take out my Aeropilates machine in between his subjects today to do a workout, which prompted me to do mine as well.  I think I still may do one at my regular evening time frame for two for the day!

I am grateful that my daughter handled her rejection letter for PHD program at Boston College well, she loves the Boston area and really wanted to stay longer, but she immediately said that she didn’t like the actual school or program, so it’s really for the best.

I am grateful that I forced myself to get dressed today, as I was feeling blue and thought about staying in my pj’s. Getting dressed in a boho outfit always lifts my spirits and after seeing the photos it sparked even more joy.

I am grateful that after getting dressed I took a walk to the grocery store ,which also helped to lift my blue mood and I picked up some healthy snacks of fruits and vegetables!

Today’s Challenge was to wear Anything Leopard

and I knew I wanted to pair it with Burgundy as wearing my

Creme Boots yesterday , made me want to wear my Burgundy ones today.

Linking up today with Turning Heads Linkup

DSC_3062-2

I bought the dress from Jane.com and like it , but it is

definitely one that has to be worn with tights as it has no lining.

I actually searched amazon for burgundy tights at the beginning of the season…

Gotta love Amazon!

DSC_3047-2

I added a pink and gold necklace Charming Charlies necklace to the look ,

another option to accessorize would have been to add a belt and forgo the necklace.

Leapord Jacket is by Joan Rivers via QVC ,

It’s currently on clearance for just $26 in smaller sizes.

It does run big as I have a 39 inch bust and wear an XS very comfortambly

and can easily button this jacket as it has

elastic gathering at the waist, a favorite feature of thsi jacket.

DSC_3067-2

I think this would make a great Valentine’s Date Night Outfit!

I definitely styled this look just for the challenge and not for my day

home with my teen homeschooler, lol.

DH didn’t go to work until 2pm , so he did get a kick out of it .

When trying to figure out a purse, my son immediately suggested I go with something pink.

He couldn’t believe I took his suggestion and I swear he stood taller when taking my photos.

Self Care

I was in a real funk today… Perhaps the lack of sleep…I didn’t let that stop me

and made the commitment to eat only fruit, veggies and protein today.

I succeeded in that!

Gratitude

I am grateful that this morning first thing I had an e-mail from Weight Watchers explaining that they were counting points of fruit and vegetables in smoothies because when blended they don’t offer the same feeling of fullness.  I guess they think you will indulge in more fruit throughout the day so counting it in smoothies will offset that. My smoothie with Chia seeds, green tea and Greek Yogurt along with fruit keeps me full until lunchtime, so still pondering going back to WW.

I am grateful for a phone call from my brother as he gets ready to leave for a trip to Cancun, lucky guy will be spending his birthday on this work reward trip for all his success.  Nice to share in his joy!

I am grateful for the anticipation as we  countdown for Thursday Night when my daughter who will  be home.

I am grateful that I am hearing on the news, that my bimonthly water bill is going to be switching to a smaller bill every month… more convienent for so many.

I am grateful for the awkward moment when my next door neighbor was walking his dog during my photo shoot, the first time that’s ever happened and made for a good laugh between my photographer and myself!

My Spin Off Private Facebook Group has really been

helping to inspire some great outfits this weekend!

Saturday was Dark Florals….

DSC_3040-2

My beloved Isaac Mizrahi leather that was a highly eleusive wish item

for several years.  I actually broke my no buy in November to purchase this and have

no regrets and the full support of DH who knew how long I searched for the right one.

This color says dark charcoal, but looks black to me!

DSC_3027-2

Funny , but when I see this outfit, I think everthing except the handbag which was a gift,

are all online purchases, the blouse is Liz Claiborne NY via Qvc ( I am wearing a small)  , the pants are Old Navy Pixie’s

and my fringe boots are Non- Rated via Amazon.

DSC_3019-2

I love that in waiting for this jacket that I got something unique and special and

best of all not a classic motto jacket, which is what I thought I wanted…

I was lucky to get it when it was on a 6 month payment plan and am still paying it off…

Sunday’s Outfit Inspiration from my group was to wear footwear that you love

but hasn’t been worn enough recently.

DSC_3021

The creme boots I bought last year, fit that dexcription perfectly.

Having turtlenecks, that I still giggle about finding at BJ’s , in my wardrobe this season

opens up the door for me to go boho and wear my beloved tunic that I’ve had for several years now

and had to reserve in warmer temps with the tank it came with.

DSC_3033-2

I love wearing creme in Winter and DH loves my creme boots,

so this group is inspiring me to have fun with my outfits recently….

These are from Chadwicks and only remain in a few sizes…

Dear Readers, Do you have a footwear item that  this could spark you to style for a look this week ?

While my group is private for only style challenge alummi, I hope my fun in finding outfit inspirations

can spark some joy in your own daily venture to be creative with what’s in your closet….

I think we could all use some Outfit Inspiration!

Gratitude

I am grateful that this Sunday morning, I woke up, look at the time and saw 10:01 am, meaning I had a full 8 hours of sleep , a true rarity for this woman who loves sleep and has been struggling due to menapause.

I am grateful for a fun phone call with my daughter last night as she anticipates coming home this Thursday and a dream she shared that the entire family would attend a Boston Comicon convention in costume with her in the next year or two.

I am grateful that when I turned and shared that dream with DH and DS , they were both on board and we have that to look forward to… If you are a regular reader you know I put high value on the anticipation of future events or trips as a key strategy for happiness..

I am grateful that prior to the Superbowl that we made a run to Home Depot and got a new garbage disposal.

I am extremely grateful for my hardworking , successful husband and never take for granted his contribution to our family which allows me to be home and available to homeschool our youngest. I am grateful for this every day, so bear with me if this one gets repeated every so often, lol…

I am still semi participating in my private Facebook group’s challenge

and today the inspiration idea was to wear ruffles….

That didn’t suit me , so I opted for my boho loving side to come out and play…

With a Ruana and Fridge, lol…

Animal print isn’t that boho, but I am a huge fan!

DSC_2958-2

I am rather pleased with the neutrals popped by my necklace and boots…

Since I invested in these beautiful ankle boots , I will probably wear them quite often.

This wonderful leather boots by Isaac Mizrahi can be found here..

My ruana was purchased at Burlington last year and my necklace is one I got at Charming Charlies on my Vegas trip!

DSC_2951-2

Here is Tuesday’s outfit and for that day, the challenge was to color block.

As a lover of color , I’ve done brights on brights and brights with neutrals…

My big love of this season is tone on tone looks , which also qualifies as a version of color blocking.

As long as I have a little bit of print as in my thrifted olive gingham blouse here, I think tone on tone is my new love for the season and have done it with pink and burgundy as well.   DSC_2978-2 (1)

It was quite a windy day today, that ended with rain and lots of it..

I loved how the wind picked up in this shot and showed the fringe on my ruana…

I am thrilled that I invested in these burgundy boots as they are a highlight of this outfit, which

I find surprising as I thought the animal print ruana would steal the spotlight, lol…

Self Care

Today in self care I’d  have to say that inbetween our two bowling events of the day, stopping by Sam’s Club and picking up a rotisserie dinner to leave in the warming door was perfect.   We got back from the second event around 6:45 and were both starving!  Vegetables and dinner was on the table with little clean up!

Dear Readers, Share with me….

What did you do today that would qualify as self care?

Would love to hear your thoughts

Gratitude

I am grateful for the fun I had chatting with homeschooling mom’s at bowling today.

I am grateful that my getting tough and threatening to leave worked and my stubborn son, put his wrist brace on.

I am grateful that after 3 weeks of not going to the extra bowling clinic due to a hurt back and stomach issues, that my son went back and got some good pointers.

I am grateful that my son texting me today that there was a report of a man in a ski mask who stolen a rifle and was seen on the street of my son’t apartment didn’t turn into national news and another college incident.

I am grateful to see my youngest and his father working together to take down our old tv above the fireplace and replace it with the new tv my DH earned from being salesman of the month.  Love this time for father and son without the other siblings around… precious…

Can You Believe It’s February?

Is it just me or did January fly by?

DSC_2917-2

Sunday’s color for the style challenge was Purple…

It was a warm 68 degree day!

DSC_2930-3

I added the thrifted leopard vest for a little pattern and

to bookend the grey boots..

I am not sure I love the grey boots , but couldn’t come up with another option.

DSC_2920-3 (2)

The color for my fashion challenge was Blue for Saturday…

I’ve had this thrifted vest for awhile and hadn’t worn it yet.

DH wasn’t fond of the vest, but I am not giving up on it as I rather like it…

If I do tire of it, I have a dear friend I pass the thrifted vests onto and she has quite a collection now.

I told her recently that before long her almost ten year old daughter would be able to share them, lol!

I had a fun dinner with my friend and her daughter in their new home on Saturday night.

DSC_2941-2 (1)

Once I added the bright vest, I couldn’t help myself,

I thought the equally bright fuschia bag had to come out to play.

I haven’t worn a lot of dresses recently and need to correct that as,

this look was very much me and I walked and felt amazingly myself!

Self Care

I made the decision to go back to Weight Watchers and will attend my first meeting Friday.

Knowing that is coming up, is motivating me to stay on track this week and I am making great choices!

Who knows perhaps, I’ll succeed in losing two lbs this week!

Gratitude

I am grateful for a great weekend spending time with my dear friend and Sunday with my guys.

I am grateful for sunshine and warm days, good for my spirit!

I am grateful for a fun potential future event (will have to wait to say what, lol)

I am grateful to my very hard working husband!

I am grateful for phone calls from my two kids away at college over the weekend!

I haven’t done a Pinterst Inspiration Look in Awhile,

Today presented an opportunity when a Facebook Group

decided to do this for today and I happened to have pinned this one and love it!

Perfect burgundy skinnies, leopard scarf, black sleeve and camel fringe booties.:

Source

Of course I have the pieces to do this verbatim, but a funny thing about me

is that I definitely like to beat my own drum and create my own path.

DSC_2720-2

I bought this Joan Rivers Leopard Jacket as my reaction to her passing.

It’s on clearance still, but only available in xxs and xs, I actually wear an xs in this line of jackets.

DSC_2729-2

I am wearing my mothers pin as a necklace and a locket that was my grandmothers,

which holds pictures of her mother and brother (my great grandmother and great uncle)

I noticed that I didn’t have my full smile in any of the photos, I attribute that to the cold temperatures ,

as it was near freezing today and that is cold for my area.

Tonight promises to be even colder with temperatures in the teens and highs near 20 tomorrow!

That rarely happens in my area!

DSC_2725-2

If you look closely at this photo you can see the nice button element in my turtleneck sweater.

I am not big on turtlenecks , but picked this one up one day in early Fall when grocery shopping at Bj’s.

I thought with turtlenecks trending that it would work well to wear with ponchos.

Dear Readers, What do you think ?

have you tried a look with burgundy, black and leopard yet?

If not, I highly recommend it!

Self Care

Today for self care I began adding MCT oil into my morning smoothie again, as I haven’t done so in awhile.

If you haven’t heard of this or are interested in why I chose to add this to my morning smoothies,

Here is a great article that explains it all in great detail!

Gratitude

I am grateful for a wonderful month off and family time together, but also happy to get back to homeschooling.

I am grateful that my son took it to heart when I began a writing program today, as his normal behavior is to stall and not do it at all.

I am grateful for a sense of humor in that young man , who didn’t use the writing prompt I suggested , but looked down the list and found one about writing something that bothered you and used it to write about me!  I loved it and will take anything I can get to start fixing this writing issue created by his years in school.

I am grateful for my dearest friend and our texts today, we haven’t seen it other much lately and she actually called herself a lousy friend.  I reminded her that our bond is secure and that there is no lousy freind in sight as she has been very busy with drama classes and plays for her daughter as well as moving!  Hopefully with football season ending we can begin Sunday Lunches!
