Today’s Prompt is Pinterest Inspiration
and I was in a boho mood.
I just wanted a long Flowy light skirt that swishes I walk, lol
This is My Pinterest Inspiration, with Staples like a white tee, and jean jacket
this was easy to put together and I have to say I probably would not
have thought to wear a white tee with my skirt. That is why
using Pinterest Inspiration photos can be so helpful.
A gorgeous breezy day, so perfect for the vibe I was hoping
to channel for the day. I went to a movie and walking at the mall,
my white Sperry Slip-on Sneakers were a perfect way to finish
the outfit and bookend the white top.
I should have gotten a close up of my jewelry while I was wearing it.
but we will have to settle to this version, lol
Gratitude
I am grateful for a fun day with my friend going to a movie and mall shopping.
I am grateful that I found the Forest Green Jeans my daughter had on her Xmas list.
I am grateful for a short walk to the grocery store on this beautiful breezy day!
I am grateful for sunshine and how it lifts my spirit.
I am grateful to my daughter for granting her brother’s wish by backing him a Black Forest Cake for his Birthday today.

First of all, Today is Day 7 of my 100 Days
following Weight Watchers Simply Filling method.
My first week’s weight loss is 5lbs!
When doing the WW Points system I never lost more than 3.5 lbs in a week.
Can’t wait to see what next weeks results will bring!
TJ Maxx
Last season I bought these in Blush and Blue and wore them a lot ,
so with green being a great color for the season, I just had to have these.
Wben I saw them in red, I literally squealed with delight.
I thought having this shoe in 4 colors might be overkill , so
I went to my trusty You LOOK Fab forum to see what they thought.
One woman suggested that these weren’t on trend and I literally cringed and thought,
I have had some kind of Espadrille inspired Summer Shoe my entire adult life,
the next comment said what I was thinking,
“They are classics.”
When Stylist Angie Cox piped in that this could be my signature style shoe,
that was all the approval I needed to go back and order these.
These brand new Clarks are one of 3 pairs of brand new Summer Shoes ,
I found in my sister’s closet. It was funny to see that she probably did the same
thing I did and bought them at the end of last season on sale.
Funnier also that this style worked for me as my sister wore a half size larger shoe than myself .
This is yet another pair from Kelley’s closet,
these are by Springstep.
It was so weird to go through her clothes and shoes recently.
I have wanted a pair of these artsy kind of sandals, but found
them outside my budget when I did see them.
A huge part of this journey of going through the process of clearing out her condo has
been seeing so many of her things that show how alike we were.
Leave it to my sister to find these by Springstep and again,
most likely on end of season clearance.
Wearing her shoes will certainly keep memories strong around me and
offer emotional comfort.
If the Espadrille wedges are my signature summer shoe,
I dare say these open back slide on versions seem to have been Kelley’s.
I would say I am set for Summer shoes Now!
I hit up Ebay for a few printed maxi skirts after I watched Offsprings
and shared my love of the main character Nina Proudman’s style.
I realize I only had one print maxi skirt with the rest all solid shades.
Nina Proudman had worn a print skirt and open weaved sweater in one
epidode that I loved so much that I jumped at the chance to copy it with these two pieces also from Ebay.
When I saw these in the shade of blue more similar to the one Nina Proudman I couldn’t resist.
This will look great with the blue wedges I bought last year.
Yet another Ebay find inspired by Nina Proudman Style, as
she wore a lot of white tops or white kimono topper with embroidered or pin-tucked details.
This is very sheer and will need a white tank under it , but the good thing is that the sides tie
so it will work with me as I lose weight this season.
This Chico Ebay topper was inspired by the fact that Nina Proudman had quite a few
toppers that were shorter than the ones I currently have, and great for my Petite height.
This shorter Kimono was also inspired by wanting shorter toppers.
Nina Proudman had a red one with medallions that was fantastic, but
this will have to do for me.
I wore this floral tunic from Ebay with a long duster sweater
on Saturday and the good news it this isn’t a used piece,
so here is the link for it…
It comes in other colors too m a fun embroidered piece for my boho style.
‘
This coral kimono , also from Ebay.
I just love the lace detail on the bottom and sleeve.
For days when I want a bit longer version with some fringe.
This one is also available and can be found Here.
I tried to stick to pieces that will work with my Weight Loss and I am
so excited to see what I can accomplish within 100 days, not that I will
quit then, I have to reach goal weight!
I have been sick for the entire 7 days I have been on this weight loss program,
a darn virus that is lingering with symptoms like scratchy throat, sneezing , watery eyes and just yesterday
turned into a cough. I should count myself lucky as my two sons who caught this have had the cough the entire time.
But I still stayed on track and even fit in a few short spurts of exercise sets a day.,..
Thanks for stopping by my blog, I hope you are doing well!
Anyone else shopping for the warm seasons ?
Embracing Maximal Trend
Posted October 19, 2016
on:I’ve always referred to my style as maximal,
but this season it’s an official trend!
How does one embrace Fall Maximalism when the temperatures are LIKE Summer?
Check out the Lovely Ladies at the “I Feel Pretty Link Up”
My private style sisters group suggested styling a skirt and with all the fun
talk regarding the maximal trend on a fashion forum,
I knew just what skirt needed to come out to play!
This multi media OSO Casuals skirt is on clearance for $18.99 and comes in 4 great colors perfect for Fall. It’s hard to see , but the bottom is lace and there are two panels of embroidery on top of the embossed floral material. That itself qualifies this as a maximal piece.
You can see the lace bottom better in this photo.
I paired it with another maximal piece of the my polka dot sweater with ruffle detail .
I’ve had that for a few years and it still remains a favorite sweater.
My metallic pointed toe low wedges are a thrifted find.
A “blingy” necklaces also ups the maximal level.
My necklace is a Susan Graver from previous seasons , but Here are her current ones available .
You can see the ruffle detail in my sweater better in this photo.
I finished it off with my cute owl cuff bracelet that I found awhile back on Ebay.
You can see a peek of my new nail color a fun red -orange shade.
I got acrylics for my cruise, a first for me and DH loved the idea of my keeping them.
I finished this maximal look off with my GILI ( stands for Got it Love it )
obi belt and hobo style purse (sold out from previous seasons ) .
Dear Readers, I love these Fall colors and have so many other ways I plan to
wear this skirt going into winter. Burgundy is going very strong for the season!
Have you thought about ways to embrace the maximal trend or are you a die hard minimalist who is steering clear?:
Chime in, love your comment!
Gratitude
I am grateful that the universe gives what you ask for, today DH went to northern Virginia to cover leads, as he’s not been having as many as he’d like and the opportunity came up for two days of packed in leads so off he went!
I am grateful that my DH has inherited such a strong work ethic from his Father.
I am grateful that tonight my son is coming home from college with our new bunny!
I am grateful that my son had a good day at bowling.

on:With many solid bottoms, it’s fun to find a shirt that already has the
Pattern Mixing done for you.
Alas this one is from Jane.com and is always gone by the time it’s delivered to me.
Be Honest, My Dear Readers, Did I make this too much like Halloween with the
addition of the black vest? LOL
I must say that taking photos and starting up blogging is going to
be great motivation to keep me eating right and exercising.
It’s impossible to see photographic evidence and not stay on track,
so despite whehter I am thrilled with an outfit or not,
I am going to post with glee knowing that I am on the path to
changing and hoping to go back and see the differences
in glaring truth that the mirror fails to show, but a camera shouts in alarming tones, lol.
One of my favorite things about the wardrobe I created from
this blogging journey are pieces that allow me to create different silhouettes.
In just days I’ve done a short straight skort, cropped pants and now the flowy long skirt.
This is so important to my not getting bored and using clothes as my artistic expression.
Dear Readers, I am having success with the 17 Day Diet, losing over half a pound a day.
Here’s what I ate to day to give you an idea of how I am being successful.
Breakfast
2 hard boiled eggs
Plum
Green Tea
Lunch
Greek Yogurt/Strawberries/ Green Tea Smoothie
Dinner
Salad greens, cucumbers, tomatoes and grilled chicken
Green Tea
Snacks
Greek Yogurt -100 calorie
Tazo Chocolate Chai Tea
The recommendation is to have 4 cups of Green Tea and I drink 12 oz at a time. On some days if I feel hungry I will get another snack which I’ve done Tuna & Celery or a Nectarine. This Phase one is very restrictive with just poultry and fish for proteins, 2 probiotics , 2 fruits and plenty of veggies.
After Day 3 the cravings went away and I am not feeling deprived at all.
Phase Two has you add some healthy carbs every other day.
Gratitude
I am very grateful to my daughter who got started today helping to homeschool my youngest with Math and Science.
I am grateful that my 20 year old loves to cook and made Turkey Burgers for his siblings and father tonight.
I am grateful that my husband had a late appointment, giving him the opportunity to sleep in and still have time to change out the water in the Turtle Tank.
I am grateful for a quiet peaceful moring all to myself as the rest of the family slept til noon. ( I am really happy there are no witnesses to my morning ballet moves in the kitchen, lol)
The Saga of the Mint Top

I found this great maxi skirt at Burlington Coat Factory ,
and realized that I didn’t own a mint top,
as one option to pair with it.
Lo and behold, shortly after purchasing it I found this great mint t-shirt on
Jane.com , which sells things for a few days , then the deals are gone.
I wore the shirt just once, when it came out of the wash I noticed what looked to
be a few bleach marks right in the front and center.
I don’t have bleach in the house, so don’t ask me what happened?
So, I bought dye and researched how to mix two colors to make mint.
I tried that and got a nice color for the result, but alas the bleach spots didn’t take the dye.
Frustrated I threw the darn shirt out .
Two days later I saw my lovely mint shirt on sale, again…
It’s obvious I was suppose to have this lovely gem, so I promptly ordered a new one.
I added a tone on tone mint floral necklace , which I bought from Burlington Coat Factory.
I have to say I love that store for jewelry, in fact I think their prices beat Charming Charlies because this necklace and most I purchase there are around $ 7.99.
My Gili Obi belt is going to be seen a lot as it truly is a wonderful belt ,
and finishes off a look perfectly.
I may just have to get one in brown sometime in the near future.
Dear Readers , there is something to be said for having a few outfits put together in your closet , as I always do.
This morning my alarm didn’t go off at 9am for our homeschool bowling.
It wasn’t until 9:41 when my SIL called me that I woke up, because I had this outfit hanging altogether,
I made it out the door on time!
Gotta love pre-planning for days like this..
The most important thing about pre-planning outfits is to actually try them on to make sure
the proportions work right together. I originally tried this on with my signature knot at the waist of the top,
but didn’t love it, so played with tucking and adding my new belt and viola , knew I hit it right.
If I hadn’t pre- done all that, it wouldn’t have been useful to just have items together that MIGHT work together…
Hope this was a helpful hint for even one of my dear readers…
Gratitude
I am grateful for bowling Wednesdays , as it is a wonderful mid-week pick me up
I am grateful that my husband had a day free and headed out to work after 4:00 today, it was nice to come home from bowling and see him relaxing and watching “Three Weddings and a Funeral”.
I am grateful that the laptop I ordered for my son arrived while we were at bowling, and that I was able to give it to hime today since my husband was around to witness it!
I am grat4eful that it was a total surprise as he only expects things like that for birithdays or Christmas.
I am grateful that he literally came out after exploring it dancing with joy and unable to contain it.
For the Love of Gingham

I’ve been wanting a few Gingham tops, so when
I was at Goodwill and saw this one and another in black
by Old Navy I was smitten.
(my internet was acting up, so I didn’t get to post this yesterday
before I headed to Richmond to drop my college son off for his sophomore year. )
Not only was it a color I love, but I also wanted it to be larger sized than
I would normally wear , so I could easily tie it at the waist or
use it in Fall/Winter under a sweater.
I paired it with an orange necklace , I’ve had for awhile and you can’t see very well, but
I am also wearing stud earrings from Walmart that are mock Kate Spade in Coral.
This felt like a wonderful summer combination, but when I get anything new,
my brain is filled with the question,
“How can I wear this across other seasons?”
Quite often I use Pinterest as my Visual Tool to help answer that question.
Interested in an orange gingham top of your own?
Here is an option found of Amazon.
Here is a Plus Size Orange Gingham Top from Amazon
Gratitude
I am grateful that I slept in later today. Yes, sleep is not to be taken for granted…
I am grateful for wonderful compassionate friendships.
I am grateful for a dear friend who loaned a scooter for my son to take while he has to wear a walking boot ,
to tool around campus, should he feel the need for it.
I am grateful that my niece will have the fun of seeing her cousins apartment as she accompanies us to Richmond.
I am grateful for my daughter who took it upon herself to order pizza for dinner tonight.
I am grateful that I got started finalizing homeschooling curriculums and went over the weekly schedule with my son.
I am grateful that even our DMV has online options for Driver’s Ed for homeschoolers!
Maxi Loving

I swear my favorite article of clothing is a maxi dress or skirt…
It is so funny that a few years back I steered clear of them due to my petite height.
I could live all Summer in them!
This pink one I bought last season on Beyond the Rack which is now Choxi.
I was pleasantly surprise that it was a Cato brand from that site.
I bought this yellow Joan Rivers Jacket from Ebay
as a reaction to her death and have been chomping at the bit
to wear it with this pink, purple , yellow and orange floral maxi.
Not the best photo, but my silly photographer came outside with no shoes
and his feet were burning on the concrete…
I loved how this outfit came together and felt so wonderful in it…
Can a wear a maxi everyday, please?
Gratitude
I am grateful for several phone calls from my daughter who is back in Boston. I miss her terribly!
I am grateful that my youngest opened up to me about how hard it’s been without his XBox (it broke) to communicate with his homeschooling group. He’ll have a new one shortly!
I am grateful for Parents Night out and all the wonderful information on new curriculum ideas.
I am grateful for the wonderful friendships and how caring this group of mother’s are for each other.
I am grateful that we made plans to bowl together soon and booked our next Parent’s Night Out!
My Petite Style Trick…

As a woman of 5’3″ I have to have a few styling tricks in my arsenal.
Today I had the use for one, as this Kate & Mallory Maxi is the longest one I have.
In fact even with 4″ wedges I found myself tripping on it when I walked…
I didn’t get the best photos before our Father’s Day Dinner and Movie…
My trick was to use a rubber band underneath the fabric at the empire waist line by gathering about 2 inches.
With the rubber band underneath against me skin there is no one who has to know the secret!
Still not the best picture but you can clearly see that my feet are visible when before they were not.
My husband is wearing the new olive shirt I bought him at Burlington and the new Izod light gray shorts from BJ’s.
I have not ever been able to convince him to wear leather boat shoes for summer , so he has a few pairs of sneakers and this lighter creme pair with brown stripes are at least fashionable.
Gratitude
I am grateful for knowing this rubber band trick and quickly being able to solve the issue of the too long dress. I’ve used in on shirts and am so happy that I now have a new way to use it…
I am grateful for my four awesome children and how amazingly perceptive and wise they all are. In conversations with them and hearing the now adults take on things, I am so impressed with them all!
I am grateful for a day off as my insomnia reached “hell” levels and I took the day to just head back to bed and slept from noon till 4pm!
I am grateful for a day to celebrate the father’s in my life and that over the years the pain of my father passing when I was just 13 has faded and I can fully embrace the day without sadness.
Striped Delight

I’ve been loving stripes in shirts and even cardigans,
but this season I am embracing them in Maxi skirts.
I found this striped skirt at Jane.com for just $12.99 and bought it in 3 colors.
Unfortunately items only sell at the great prices for a few days before they expire, I love that site!
I was hoping my daughter would finally try a maxi skirt, but she didn’t like it…
No worries I am keeping them or perhaps will give one to a dear friend who can fit it.
This one is Navy, and I got black and burgundy as well…
I used beach wave spray in my hair and just scrunched it today..
I packed my bag for the Vegas trip that begins Saturday and my husband came home in the afternoon for a surprise lunch, so it was fun to be dressed in my new skirt and ready for spur of the moment events like this.
We are so excited about spending 4 days in Vegas and seeing Neil Diamond and Cirque de Soleil Michael Jackson. We haven’t made all the other plans and will see how we feel. I’ve pinned a couple ideas of things to do in Vegas and the top on that list was to go to the Mob Museum , without that history there would be no Vegas!
My navy peplum top is also from Jane.com and I adore it..
I would love it a little more once I finally get to losing this stupid 15lbs I am now carrying around.
These past few weeks being inactive due to my sciatica, and orders from my family to do nothing and heal for the Vegas trip, has been so frustrating as I was ready to exercise and get the journey going…
Alas it is what it is and like all things I can find gratitude in even this pause time because it has definitely made me even more determined to stop playing around with this and get to losing.
I had been stuck with wanting it but not being fully motivated….
Gratitude
I am grateful to the wonderful homeschooling group and how generous and supportive we all are!
I am grateful to my beautiful daughter who, after I went to bed last night, cleaned every surface in my kitchen, fully supporting her stance that I take it easy before Vegas and allow my sciatica to heal.
I am grateful to my husband for surprising me with a lunch outing today.
I am grateful to my son, who as I type this, is in the kitchen peeling potatoes so the kids can enjoy mashed potatoes with the Salisbury Steak they wanted for dinner.
