It took me a bit longer to get back to blogging than I originally planned!
I have decided that I will return for 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
My life these days is busy supporting my youngest son’s goals of going to Vegas this summer for a Junior Gold Bowling Tournament!
That means spending 4 days a week in bowling alleys,
two days of leagues and two days with coaches.
This was last year in Detroit for his first Junior Gold Event
I have to say he is the bravest soul I know, as he went and competed after
switching from traditional one handed bowling to two -handed style just 3 months
before the tournament and he was also pretty new to bowling on crazy oil patterns like the pros!
I have learned so much as a bowling mother about this sport!
He has come along way since the Detroit tournament in July.
I feel so blessed to be on this journey with him.
If anyone knows anything about bowling , his new high score is 275 and
his high 3 game series is 691. He has a goal to reach 700 series soon.
Now, I will end with a bunch of outfits I have worn this season,
I definitely am loving kimonos , lol
I wanted to add femininity to my football style, lol
Our movie theater showed games this year and I happened
to park next to this vehicle so had to get a photo.
I added this zebra print cardigan for Fall from Loft,
as you know I love black and white prints as they are
so versatile and can be paired with any color.
I added in some Carmel colors this season with this poncho and top.
Fuchsia has to be one of my favorite colors and I love it with Navy.
My snakeskin booties are new for the season and I love them!
You can’t tell but these jeans are by my favorite designer
Diane Gilman via HSN and have an embroidered Peacock!
I love vests , longer ones for leatherette leggings are a must.
I joined Get Your Pretty On’s Fall and Winter Challenges and faux leather leggings
were all the rage and a polarizing item that not everyone embraced, but I am daring and love them.
Again my love of black and white prints prompted a purchase of polka dot cardigan.
Black faux leather leggings this time around.
Leopard is another versatile print that goes with everything!
January 15th I celebrated 29 years of marriage, boy have we lived through a lot!
Us now, enjoying our love of football despite different teams!
Gratitude
I am so grateful to have moved past the worst of the mourning stage, losing my sister was tough stuff, as so much of who I am is because of who she was…
I am grateful that my oldest found a way to honor my sister’s legacy by embracing her
“Work Hard, Play Harder“ way of life and he is now doing Improv and embracing his innate artistic ability!
I am grateful for a fun night going to see “ A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood “ with that poignant moment of Mr Rogers asking “Who loved you into being”. I seriously thought of 25 people right away !
I am grateful for my Movie B_ uddy and the days we go out to break up my time at bowling alleys!
I am grateful for my New Years resolution to spend one day a month with my dearest friend who is busier than I am supporting her daughter in dance and acting in plays.
Please comment and let me know you are here!
Your comments are my only payment for the effort of blogging.
Share a Gratitude of your own, choose a favorite look , or tell me something keeping you busy these days.
Next up : WEIGHT LOSS Wednesdays where I share my current journey!
Today’s Challenge was Pinterest Inspiration
and I had just recently pinned this Jennifer Aniston one.
I adore her style and have quite often admire outfits on Pinterest.
It’s fun to actually put one together, finally…
I’ve had this scarf for a few seasons and love it against the all black background.
If you are regular reader, you may notice I am not much for dressing all over in black.
I quite often love all black looks but don’t feel like they are me, so having the purple scarf was
just enough color to still feel like myself.
My Faux leather moto jacket , can be found here in several colors.
I could have gone with a black purse, but
why would I when I own this fabulous Joy & Iman one?
It comes in several colors, but I think this Purple one is incredible!
One of the easiest ways to bump up a look is in a fabulous handbag and I think
I have more than made up for my past of not carrying a purse.
You see as a mother of four who spread her kids out 4 1/2 years apart,
I carried a diaper bag around for many years and gave up a purse….
My Dear Husband put up with my lipsticks and Id in his pockets
on many a date night back in those days, lol
Self Care
I think taking double dose of sinus meds and making it out to homeschool bowling counts as self care.
I had spent the past several days with headaches and actually am pinching myself that I had relief today…
I also planned our next Parent’s Night Out Event and Let me tell you that is definitely self care as we all need those nights
and have come to look forward to it…
Gratitude
I am beyond grateful that my son got out of his funk today and had a wonderful time bowling today, he even got a better score than he’s had all this season ….
I am grateful that my brother stopped by last night and I got to hug him before he went to coincidentally spend his birthday in Cancun for a work reward trip.
I am grateful for a phone call with my son away at college and that he talked to his younger brother as well.

My Husband’s Company Treated us for a Night of Baseball with our local
Tidewater Tides
We had a wonderful time especially hanging out with our two youngest.
I think my husband’s favorite part was spending the Tides bucks that came with the package his company provided us, as he and my youngest indulged… cotton candy, ice cream, nuts , cracker jacks were the snacks they ate and that was on top of hot dogs and Italian sausages.
I decided to wear linen capris, my new striped peplum top from Ebay and my bejeweled vest.
I couldn’t wear wedges or heels to help the proportions of the cropped pants and my petite height,
so I opted for the very low wedge pointed toe metallic’s .
I wasn’t sure if we would be sitting in the sun, so my fedora was a must.
Turned out we had great seats in the shade, but I loved wearing the hat, as I have been thinking lately that
I haven’t worn as many hats so far this Summer.
Can you believe that I am so use to taking blog photos, that I didn’t feel at all funny about taking
this among all the people?
It’s a first time I didn’t feel that twinge of self consciousness.
My trusty cross body adorned with the blue butterfly art by Harold Feinstein
was the perfect finish for the activity of the night.
Dear Readers, I tried something new for the first time tonight, by wearing bracelets on both arms. I’ve been wanting to try it and with the sleeveless look of the day , it just felt right.
Have you ever worn bracelets on both arms, do you like this trend?
Enjoying our Dippin Dots…
Gratitude
I am grateful for a fun weekend of family time spent, bowling and at a baseball game.
I am grateful that my husband finished patching the holes in our bedroom from the electrical issues and repainted and finally moved all the furniture back into place.
I am grateful for a fun day hanging out with a dear friend on Saturday, thrifting and checking out the new Tuesday Morning.
I am grateful that for the anticipation of next weekend as my daughter comes home and my son gets his keys to his first college apartment.

Dressing doesn’t get any easier than finding a silhouette that you love
and repeating it with different pieces.
I’ve often talked of my preference for swingy skirts and this Ann Taylor one I thrifted is a perfect one.
It goes to my knee, is a wonderful soft material and has movement when I walk that puts a pep in my step.
To complete the look a simple tank top , finished off with a wonderful knitted shrug and pointed toe ballet flats.
If I had more skirts like this, I could wear this silhouette all Summer and never tire of it..
I am on my way to go shopping with my 19 year old to get somethings for his first college apartment.
I am carrying a red solo cup of my last Diet Soda for the Summer.
I am making a commitment to cut this out of my daily life.
I may still order one here or there if I am out bowling , but I will not buy it to have in the home and I never order it when I go out to eat (I always order water with lemon) .
I’ve made a plan to be successful this time and that is to switch to coffee and tea.
I love my green tea and have done well with lessening my diet soda addiction due to that, but sinus pressure headaches always draw me back into that ugly addictive cycle.
I have a few organizational clean ups I need to do first (like the computer desk), but soon I plan to finally put that silly 1970’s wet bar in my den to good use by changing it into a coffee and tea bar.
Today, I am switching my fruit smoothie to a coffee with vanilla protein power version for a morning pick me up and to begin adding coffee into my diet. I will stick with it in the mornings as to not disrupt my sleep, which menopause is already wreaking havoc with, lol!
Check Out 13 Benefits of Coffee
I look forward to accomplishing my goal of kicking the diet soda addiction!
Now just for fun, I couldn’t help but to smile with my Red Solo Cup
because of the Toby Keith Song and our upcoming concert next month to see him.
I am tickled pink that after singing that song to me to the point of annoyance, that I told my husband he had to attend the concert and he embraced if fully inviting friends to join us.
This is a big deal for my Northern born snobby husband who isn’t into country music!
Gratitude
I am grateful for the fun of getting a coffee maker yesterday and trying a caramel version with my son.
I am grateful for an afternoon at Walmart getting a few things for my son’s first college apartment, including his very own coffee maker.
I am grateful for our bowling weekend and the Country Inn & Suites hotel that offered tea and coffee in the lobby, which caused my son to try it and have it several times, resulting in him now liking coffee for the first time.
I am grateful at my husband’s willingness to humor me by tasting the caramel coffee despite his total distaste for the beverage and his support of my turning the wet bar into a coffee/tea bar.
I am grateful that when my husband had an early night, he came home and invited me to go see the Trainwreck movie, as it was a very funny movie, and a much needed night out.
I am grateful that when the movie ended and I was chair dancing, that my husband joined me when I stood up to dance, I really think this impending 50th birthday is making me not care about making a fool out of myself and bursting into dance more randomly….
I am grateful for YouTube and being able to find music so easy, I listened to several Toby Keith song’s as I finished my blog, a great uplifting start to my morning!
Poncho Love..

Today was bowling day, except not for me…
I went , but due to sciatica did not bowl,
so I decided I would take advantage of that
and style a poncho…
Normally a poncho and bowling day wouldn’t go together..
I had just as much fun hanging out and chatting with the other parents..
We are all looking forward to Saturday when a few of us are attending a Wildlife Festival during the day,
then the adults are hanging out without the kids for the night….
I originally had a different scarf that had grey and teal in it, but saw this one on my way out the door,
and quickly tried it on and lived the more vibrant blues in this one…
I like wearing scarves or long necklaces with a poncho to break up the wide silhouette
and add in a vertical line…
Poncho’s really are a great background to showcase a scarf or necklace…
Perhaps I’ll have to try the infinity scarf and a necklace combo from yesterday with a poncho next…
Speaking of ponchos, they are going to be a big trend for Spring…
I also have noticed that Feather Prints and Jewelry seem to be trending for the warm season…
Which is why I recently purchased my first item for Spring, this bat-wing top from Ebay
It arrived and is very lightweight and perfect for wearing over a tank top for Summer
Check out this link for all the feather themed necklaces from Forever 21
Gratitude
I am grateful for bowling days and the fun of connecting with other homeschooling families.
I am grateful for the weekend plans and another chance for my son to hang out with his friends.
I am grateful that the heating pad helped my sciatica and gave me a few pain free hours today.
I am grateful my daughter called to share with me that today’s walk to campus was much easier due to the plowed walkways…. after the night before where she was on the phone joking her way through the piles of snow and unpaved roads and sidewalks, rolling over snow drifts and even falling twice , this was a huge relief.
I love the my daughter is much like me and looks for the bright side of things, commenting today that her legs are feeling quite toned from all this walking in snow…
I am also grateful that she has no plans to stay north of home past grad school and likes our area where snowfall is a rare delight… she can always visit Boston since it’s her father’s home…
I am grateful that I have quite an assortment of flat boots for the season to accommodate this bout of sciatica
I am grateful that my home-schooler worked hard today finishing his Biology note taking, the more we do the less trouble he gives me in this… note taking for a kid who hates writing is torture, but he is seeing his own achievements , which was my goal before really pursuing the great adventure of creative writing…
Sporty Luxe for Play off Season

Yesterday was the beginning of Football Play-offs
and sadly the final game of the season for my
beloved Pittsburgh Steelers..
I loved the Sporty Luxe trend for Spring and Summer,
yet hadn’t really attempted this style in the cooler seasons…
So, with that purpose in mind I put this look together, beginning with F21 jogger pants..
Not much luxe there, so I added a thrifted lambs wool and angora yellow sweater,
along with a thrifted DKNY Active vest
I added my new Steelers Scarf to support my team and add a literal sporty touch..
Since it rained most of Saturday, I topped the outfit off with my Rachel Zoe trench via QVC (no longer available)
I completed the look with what I jokingly refer to as my Beatles booties.. the flat strappy version is a great addition to my Mom on the Go lifestyle… These are by Aeropostle picked up off season…
Dear Readers, I was sad at the team loss last night, but as a true lover of the sport am looking forward to the remaining play off games and the Superbowl… It’s less stress when your favorite team is out.. Lol… I often joke that football is not good for your blood pressure..
Gratitude
I am grateful that I had the privilege of playing Santa for my friend yesterday (she is returning from Canada today and her daughter wanted Santa to come to their home ,to have something to come home to…I had to wait until the day before in hopes that their cat doesn’t wreak too much havoc)
I am grateful that my daughter and son opted to accompany me in playing Santa and the fun we had with it..
I am grateful that we opted for deli meats and cheeses for dinner last night, so no cooking before game time!
I am grateful for the humor my Nicholas brings to every situation even my team losing…
I am grateful for a good night’s sleep..
Gratitude

on:Dear Readers, I’ve been busy getting things ready for Christmas and forgetting to take blog photos before dark..
I woke up this morning feeling inspired to write a post on Gratitude…
The best benefit to me in starting this blog has been holding myself accountable and publicizing my daily gratitude!
It truly is a gift you give yourself!
I must also say Merry Christmas , Happy Holidays , Happy Hanukkah!
I hope you are all filling your souls with family, friendship and the love of the Season!
You see I awoke this morning at 5am with about 5 hours of sleep and severe sinus pressure, but my positive personality kicked into gear and I imagined myself as The Little Engine That Could, a book my grandmother bought me and dear mother read to me many times. It was a lesson I needed and my wise mother was well aware of that need. That thought sparked my initiating the Gratitude post you are reading because I am missing my mother like crazy and am so grateful for the incredible legacy she left behind that guides me in so many ways..
Today, I am cooking up 3 flavors of Frittatas..
.Yes, accommodating ten people means choices.
.In case you are curious my 3 options are 1. spinach, artichoke, mushroom, onion and feta, 2. red & green peppers onions and feta and 3. bacon, onions and sharp cheddar… Yep, onions in all 3!
And guess what I forgot to buy… ONIONS… Heading to the store after breakfast and a cup of tea!
I’ve mentioned on Facebook, but now will share with you, that my goal this year is to have all my cooking done early as I usually do it on Christmas Eve and am frazzled by Christmas morning.. This year I set the goal to have a peaceful, relaxing, recharging day for Christmas Eve and I am on target, as long as I muscle through this headache today..
If you haven’t already embraced daily gratitude’s as a key to happiness ,
this might help.. get you started..
I will probably not do another post until after Christmas, so would love if any of my dear readers would bless me with a comment of something they are Grateful for this season!
Merry Christmas!
And Now for a few Gratitudes from the last few days…
I am grateful for my Nicholas( 19) for being a light in my world and changing out the lightbulbs in my kitchen!
I am grateful to my daughter for bathing and grooming the dog and to my youngest for helping her…
I am grateful to my two boys for accompanying me on the several grocery trips over the last few days. My youngest even indulged me in a walk in the rain last night when the urge hit me..
I am grateful for the love of dear friends and my blogging community who keep me going with their kindness and wisdom.
I am grateful that my husband’s hard work was recognized when he was awarded Salesman of the Year! He totally kicked butt, especially considering that he was in management up until mid August and took 3 weeks off in October!
I am grateful for wonderful holiday memories and conversations with my children.
I am grateful for the outpouring of outrage for the loss of two NY officers.
I am grateful to my youngest who is the first one up, just came up to me with a big hug and “Morning Mom!”
I Can’t Wait for Fall…

I am chomping at the bit to wear Fall clothing…
I bought a few pieces off season over the summer that are just calling my name…
Since I am in air conditioning, I can sport this , despite our warm temps…
Linking up with Visible Monday
I bought this sweater at Burlington by Cable & Gauge
My pants are brand new as well, Old Navy, Pixie Pants..
My purse and shoes are different darker shades of green than the brighter color of the sweater…
I bought these heels last September for my birthday…
They still have them at Metrostyle
It felt nice to rebel and wear Fall clothing, but it was warm taking photos.
Dear Readers, I am 5ft 3in ,but wear regular length pants.. I however have shorter arms and really do better with petite tops. I don’t like limiting myself to that, but think I might see about taking some much loved pieces and have the tailor shorten them.. This sweater my be the first one in the pile as I really don’t want it to be tunic length…Yet another project for after Ireland…
Gratitude
I am grateful that my son is so patient in being my blog photographer.
I am grateful that I got a step ahead today and wrote a white board of all the things my youngest needs to do on a daily basis while I am away..
I am grateful my oldest lives nearby and will move home for a few weeks, allowing us the freedom to go to Ireland.
I am grateful that my walks are still going well and that I enjoy them so much! ( I even run the last block)
I am grateful for the wonderful smells from my kitchen as the roast is cooking..
I am grateful for my wonderful family and the love we share.
