As we all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month,

so I had to include this as a prompt.

sweater- loft  , /pants-lisa rinna ,/  shoes-earth, /purse-dooney &bourke

I was really faking Fall today as even This lightweight sweater was hot.

The sweater is a new clearance purchase from Loft and was called lavender,

but reads more pink to me…

I love these pull-on  pants and they are a great weight for Fall-winter,

but their is one drawback to pull on pants.

You cannot faux tuck in a shirt, especially with the high waist.

If I wasn’t wearing the long necklace,

I would have added a belt to define my waist.

I love vests and this one is one I got wholesale in hopes of selling them ,

if I can ever get up the gumption to sell off my Amelia James inventory,

I never should have gotten into a clothing MLM 6 months after my sister passed on.

This shorter necklace is one my sister made.

I love wearing pieces that she handmade and kept for herself.

It makes me feel close to her and I usually speak to her as

put them on.  I just wish she could answer back….

When This showed up in my email from Ann Taylor today,

It immediately made me think of the Pinterest Inspiration

skirt and I thought I would never have paired it with a light

blue sweater. Now I am definitely going to give that a shot!

After all, a light blue sweater is just as versatile as a chambray shirt,

if you think about it, lol

Gratitude

I am so grateful to my daughter and youngest son for pairing up to bake my oldest a Black Forest cake for his birthday, today.. yes my dear friends, I am the mother of a 32-year-old, yikes!

I am grateful for a nice time with three of my four children today and the fun conversation that we hadn’t had Black Forest Cake in years!

I am grateful for a nice chat on the phone with my son away at college and the comfort that he is coming home for a visit this weekend!

I am grateful that my workaholic husband, by coincidence, did not have an appointment til later and was able to at least wish our son a happy birthday in person, lol

Today’s Prompt is Pinterest Inspiration

and I was in a boho mood.

I just wanted a long Flowy light skirt that swishes I walk, lol

This is My Pinterest Inspiration, with Staples like a white tee, and jean jacket

this was easy to put together and I have to say I probably would not

have thought to wear a white tee with my skirt. That is why

using Pinterest Inspiration photos can be so helpful.

A gorgeous breezy day, so perfect for the vibe I was hoping

to channel for the day. I went to a movie and walking at the mall,

my white Sperry Slip-on Sneakers were a perfect way to finish

the outfit and bookend the white top.

I should have gotten a close up of my jewelry while I was wearing it.

but we will have to settle to this version, lol

Gratitude

I am grateful for a fun day with my friend going to a movie and mall shopping.

I am grateful that I found the Forest Green Jeans my daughter had on her Xmas list.

I am grateful for a short walk to the grocery store on this beautiful breezy day!

I am grateful for sunshine and how it lifts my spirit.

I am grateful to my daughter for granting her brother’s wish by backing him a Black Forest Cake for his Birthday today.

I was so excited to get back to blogging and doing an Outfit Post that I

Laid out my Look last night , including the jewelry, lol

Check out this blog : https://www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com/my-afternoon-at-charlottes-soft-surroundings-beauty-products/

This look is very much my style for a few reasons,

Color, Pattern, Cute Jeans and Wedges!

Of course, I had to add in a layered necklace

look to finish off my maximal style!

My shorter necklace is actually one my sister made,

she made jewelry to sell and wear herself as a hobby.

The Jeans are my favorite jean designer, Diane Gilman  ( I may be addicted)

are a fun cropped flared version.

I haven’t tried them with booties yet, but

will in the future to extend their wear- ability .

The Babydoll Tunic, I picked up from Jane  is a great style, fitted in the bust with

the empire waist and perfect flair to help camouflage the menopause tummy.

I will be posting soon about my weight loss method that has resulted in 11 lbs

and inches off in the past 5 weeks!

I now have several of these wedges that I picked up over last few years

at TJMaxx by different makers.  I unfortunately have been stuck in

flats this Summer after twisting my ankle at a Cemetery in July,

when in Boston to say farewell to my husband’s Aunt Jane.

*Note I took photos too early when sun was bright, was excited to get back to outfit post!

As my past readers know I am really big on third completer pieces ,

and right now I am adoring these fun vests.

This one is one of the samples I have been trying out.

In fact I am looking into selling these.

I started an Amelia James clothing boutique business 6 months after my sister passed on,

big mistake and never got it fully off the ground.  I have to sell my inventory and move on as I love the company and clothes , but not the mlm business culture .

The good news is

it taught me was that I want to sell 3rd Completer Pieces!

I created this September Calendar for a group of Style Sisters for

Facebook group that had not been very active to get us back to posting

pictures and to hep me get back to blogging.

I invite any of my readers to join in if they wish.

Please if you have not joined my

Versatile Style by Tracey Facebook Group

do so, and post pictures of your outfits!

As a mother of three sons, I have always been careful about show cleavage in my tops.

I love a good v-neck and wear them often, but fell in love when Amelia James came out with their

Sedona Wrap Top.  I actually have three now, that is how much I adore it.

Posting all the styles and sizes I have available at the bottom of this post

Three of any one style is my limit as I use to shop and get multiples like a crazy person when I liked them.

This pretty floral is one I have worn most often. I paired it with Leatherette

Leggings when I was in San Diego for the Amelia James REP retreat for a fun date night look.

I have also worn it with white jeans and a black skirt, I have yet to pair it with grey, but every intention as

another way to style this top.   I am also wearing Amelia James Alyeska dolman sleeved cardigan.

My pants are new for the season, Crepe pull-on  cargo pants by  Lisa Rhinna

The Sedona wrap top has one snap at the top to keep it in place, cute balloon sleeves with bows at the wrist.

The bottom of the top is also elasticized, which allows it to blouse over perfectly.  You can’t tell here, but I am showing a bit of cleavage, lol

A recent customer reported back that her husband adored this as a date night top,

but like that she could wear it with a cami and a skirt to see million dollar clients.

We had temps near 70 today, sunny and gorgeous!

I also bought Lisa Rhinna Cargo pants with the banded bottom for a jogger style and wore them all Summer!

Note to self, don’t put hands in your pockets, lol

To purchase simply email me @ KTStylists@gmail.com with size, style and color info and

I will email a PayPal invoice and ship it right out to you, Fingers crossed I get a website in January.

I have worn Burgundy a lot of the last few seasons and my love for it is still strong.

It’s a color that is still trending for this Fall.

Can you believe a few years ago they tried to rename this Oxblood ?

So many bloggers got on board with it, but I stayed strong in not being

sucked into that, as it never sat right with me.

After a fun weekend with my son home from college, Saturday &  Sunday bowling and Football, and waking up with the first sinus headache I’ve had in several months (since beginning Tumeric) ,

I decided to just find a selection of ways I have worn this fabulous Fall shade.

DSC_3067-2

Why not start off with my favorite very spunky look pairing a dress with leopard blazer

and let’s not forget Burgundy fun boots.

DSC_2226

These are leggings with a grey tunic and sweater.

You’ll notice I love burgundy and grey together.

I still get tickled pink every time I see this vintage Aigner purse I thrifted .

DSC_2174

Since the pants had burgundy dots,  this was a no brainer,

and how fun is a floppy hat?

IMG_2929

Apparently, I love it with navy too.

DSC_1811

See I told you , Grey striped jacket and plaid grey heels,

These Old Navy joggers were passed on to my niece who also adores the color burgundy

IMG_3003

These burgundy paisley embossed cords are my best deal ever

I found them online at JCP a few years ago for just $8 and have worn them a lot.

I also scored them in forest green and adore them just as much.

IMG_2520

See wearing them again, here with a pink utility jacket.

Speaking of utility jackets, I bought one for my niece over the summer and when

Jane had them back again, I bought myself one too.

I love utility jackets and now own 4!

IMG_2287

A look around Christmas in a thrifted sweater dress.

Wish I was this weight again!!!!!

IMG_3698

It really is nice when paired with tan ,  isn’t it?

IMG_3207

Another grey and Burgundy look.

I thrifted this fun striped poncho and love it

but just put it in to pass on to my friend;s daughter who is just ten

as it’s short enough that it will work for her.

DSC_2081

The leggings again with my ruffle grey cardigan,

I have to lose weight as the arms on this cardi are tight and I can’t

see myself giving that up.

Teal and Burgundy, Winter Outfit, Over 40 Style., Burgundy Pants:

A surprise pairing it with teal, I loved this combo.

Alas, this thrifted poncho is headed to a friend soon ,

as I bought a reversible open version in a similar shade and don’t need both.

Celebrating 23 years of Marriage!:

Another skinny version of myself, to remind me that

I need to get my butt in gear!

This burgundy moto was among my first moto jacket purchases from F21.

I had never shopped there before and was surprised at how much I was missing.

IMG_2538 Burgundy Cords and Chambray Over 40 Pettie Blogger Weight Watcher:

If burgundy works with Navy , then of course a lighter shade in chambray

will too!

Burgundy & Snakeskin Over 40 Petite Blogger Weight Watcher Accidental Homeschooling Mom:

Yet another version with grey in the snakeskin thrifted shirt-dress.

I swear I am going to lose enough to get back into that dress which I refuse to give up!

Polk a dots and Paisley Burgundy Paisley Corduroy Skinnies Over 40 Petite Blogger:

I bought that sweater at the same time as the pants off season

clearance shopping at Jcp online.

That’s my favorite way to shop and I am looking forward to wearing my off season buys for

Fall and Winter now that our temps are cooling off and cooperating.

Burgundy and Leopard, Over 40 Fashion, Winter Outfit:

How about ending with another leopard combo?

Last year I bought this black turtleneck sweater and with those

being a trend for the season I added a few more.

Dear Readers, Do you love the Burgundy color for FALL?

Do you have a favorite of my outfits?

Or a favorite combo you wear with burgundy?

I love comments and hearing from you!

I’ve always referred to my style as maximal,

but this season it’s an official trend!

How does one embrace Fall Maximalism when the temperatures are LIKE Summer?

Check out the Lovely Ladies at the “I Feel Pretty Link Up”

img_4480

My private style sisters group suggested styling a skirt and with all the fun

talk regarding the maximal trend on a fashion forum,

I knew just what skirt needed to come out to play!

This multi media  OSO Casuals skirt is on clearance for $18.99 and comes in 4 great colors perfect for Fall.  It’s hard to see , but the bottom is lace and there are two panels of embroidery on top of the embossed floral material.  That itself qualifies this as a maximal piece.

img_4486

You can see the lace bottom better in this photo.

I paired it with another maximal piece of the my polka dot sweater with ruffle detail .

I’ve had that for a few years and it still remains a favorite sweater.

My metallic pointed toe low wedges are a thrifted find.

img_4491

A “blingy”  necklaces also ups the maximal level.

My necklace is a Susan Graver from previous seasons , but Here are her current ones available .

You can see the ruffle detail in my sweater better in this photo.

\img_4489

I finished it off with my cute owl cuff bracelet that I found awhile back on Ebay.

You can see a peek of my new nail color a fun red -orange shade.

I got acrylics for my cruise, a first for me and DH loved the idea of my keeping them.

img_4483

I finished this maximal look off with my GILI ( stands for Got it Love it )

obi belt and hobo style purse (sold out from previous seasons ) .

Dear Readers, I love these Fall colors and have so many other ways  I plan to

wear this skirt going into winter.  Burgundy is going very strong for the season!

Have you thought about ways to embrace the maximal trend or are you a die hard minimalist who is steering clear?:

Chime in, love your comment!

Gratitude

I am grateful that the universe gives what you ask for, today DH went to northern Virginia to cover leads, as he’s not been having as many as he’d like and the opportunity came up for two days of packed in leads so off he went!

I am grateful that my DH has inherited such a strong work ethic from his Father.

I am grateful that tonight my son is coming home from college with our new bunny!

I am grateful that my son had a good day at bowling.

Mondays truly are the hardest days in our homeschooling journey.

I don’t know why it’s so difficult but historically is always the same with neither one of us being at our best.

Since we already do a four day a week schedule, something had to give…

Yesterday it hit me, Why not Make Mondays, Backwards…

DSC_3179-2

I got dressed in a very casual leggings, tunic and sneakers outfit

and suggested my teen come for a walk with me to the Dollar Store.

It’s about a 15 minute walk and we had a beautiful ( yet windy) 72 degrees and sunny day.

Homeschooling can be done 24 hours a day, so why do we have to start when he finally rolled out of bed at noon?

DSC_3177-2

I did mention the windy day, didn’t I?

Every picture I took in front of the tree had my hair like this, lol.

It was my first picture of the series, so it was nice to see it calmed down.

It was also nice to see my teen son (16 in April) embrace my idea and join me for the walk.

We bought two trash cans for his room, one to put beside the new desk we assmebled over the weekend,

and one to put by his bed.   He and his father both have this water bottle issue so one right by the bed was a must!

DSC_3183-2

I am happy to report that my idea worked brilliantly and when we returned from our outing,

he completed his assignments scheduled for the day with no problem

and not dragging like he normally does on Mondays.

I think that about half my job as a mother is taking problems and finding solutions and after

29 years as a mother and 4 kids, I am proud to say, I’ve developed quite a knack for problem solving

and have gained quite a bit of respect from my children who benefit from it.

Self care

Well of course a walk in the sunlight was my self care of the day, because I certainly needed it. I struggle sometimes with lack of sunlight and really should have gotten off my butt and taken care of that issue this winter season.I think the sleep disorder and menopausal stuff made this year a bit more difficult.       I talked a big game about getting myself a sunlight therapy lamp and finally on my walk realized even though winter is almost over, there are always cloudy days year round that I could benefit from having a solution to and I hit up Amazon first thing this Tuesday morning and purchased it.  I actually asked DH to check Sam’s Club for the one we’d seen earlier in the season and last night he informed me they were sold out.  He knows I need it and suggested immediately that I check out online for one.  I am grateful for his support.

Gratitude

I am grateful for my walk with my son yesterday as it reminds me so much of walks with my father.

I am grateful that my idea worked and that we had a peaceful afternoon, without me having to nag, lol.

I am grateful for the joy of college Spring Break and the countdown we are doing until the two away are home on Friday.

I am grateful for sunshine and warmer weather, we have one more day of it before we drop back to the 50’s and 40’s.

Wednesday Is All About Bowling…

It begins with homeschool league and ends with traveling to another city for

a late afternoon bowling Clinic.

DSC_3090-2

I originally planned to wear my black and white poncho with the burgundy leggings.

It was shorter than I liked with the leggings….

My teal one was laying on the chair in my room as I’d worn it but hadn’t photographed it recently.

It’s not colors I automatically would have paired together, but I was in the mood for a poncho

and quite frankly I didn’t feel like changing out of the leggings.

So, a new color combo was born!

DSC_3098-2

I already had the black boots on so thought I’d add the necklace to book end

them and make them work.

Then it occurred to me that I was wearing double fringe.

Just for kicks I grabbed my hobo bag as it has a big fringe tassle.

It doesn’t photograph well here, but trust me it tickled me to have triple fringe

without it being overkill and look ridiculous.

DSC_3102-2

Self Care

Yesterday, when wearing this outfit, I went out to lunch between the bowling events of the day

and I had Jason’s Deli Salad Bar, Chcken Breast and A Fruit Salad bowl.   I was to tired to go home and cook at 6:30 when

we got home ,so I opted for Special K Protein with bananas.

In addition, I exercised on my Pilates Machine and am commited to do so 6 days a week for the next 30 days.

Gratitude

I am grateful that I am not the only one enjoying my new Pilates machine, as my teen son thinks it’s too heavy for me to set up, so has decided he is in charge of unfolding it for me (shh don’t tell him it’s not that heavy especially with the wheels)  and he exercises on it first after setting it up for me…

I am grateful to my son for setting up my Fitbit(replacement one I bought on Ebay after my dropping the original down the sink)  and he even put an app on my phone for me.

I am grateful for my meat tenderizing hammer ( I  hadn’t had one for a while and got one recently) as it is so fun to pound out chicken breasts for marinating.   Yes, little things make me happy.

I am grateful that my son had more success yesterday and upped his high score by two more points, can’t wait to see how he does on his Saturday league when he is with the more serious and talented bowlers.

I am grateful for my friendships and how we support each other, love the givers of the world!

Today’s Challenge was to wear Anything Leopard

and I knew I wanted to pair it with Burgundy as wearing my

Creme Boots yesterday , made me want to wear my Burgundy ones today.

Linking up today with Turning Heads Linkup

DSC_3062-2

I bought the dress from Jane.com and like it , but it is

definitely one that has to be worn with tights as it has no lining.

I actually searched amazon for burgundy tights at the beginning of the season…

Gotta love Amazon!

DSC_3047-2

I added a pink and gold necklace Charming Charlies necklace to the look ,

another option to accessorize would have been to add a belt and forgo the necklace.

Leapord Jacket is by Joan Rivers via QVC ,

It’s currently on clearance for just $26 in smaller sizes.

It does run big as I have a 39 inch bust and wear an XS very comfortambly

and can easily button this jacket as it has

elastic gathering at the waist, a favorite feature of thsi jacket.

DSC_3067-2

I think this would make a great Valentine’s Date Night Outfit!

I definitely styled this look just for the challenge and not for my day

home with my teen homeschooler, lol.

DH didn’t go to work until 2pm , so he did get a kick out of it .

When trying to figure out a purse, my son immediately suggested I go with something pink.

He couldn’t believe I took his suggestion and I swear he stood taller when taking my photos.

Self Care

I was in a real funk today… Perhaps the lack of sleep…I didn’t let that stop me

and made the commitment to eat only fruit, veggies and protein today.

I succeeded in that!

Gratitude

I am grateful that this morning first thing I had an e-mail from Weight Watchers explaining that they were counting points of fruit and vegetables in smoothies because when blended they don’t offer the same feeling of fullness.  I guess they think you will indulge in more fruit throughout the day so counting it in smoothies will offset that. My smoothie with Chia seeds, green tea and Greek Yogurt along with fruit keeps me full until lunchtime, so still pondering going back to WW.

I am grateful for a phone call from my brother as he gets ready to leave for a trip to Cancun, lucky guy will be spending his birthday on this work reward trip for all his success.  Nice to share in his joy!

I am grateful for the anticipation as we  countdown for Thursday Night when my daughter who will  be home.

I am grateful that I am hearing on the news, that my bimonthly water bill is going to be switching to a smaller bill every month… more convienent for so many.

I am grateful for the awkward moment when my next door neighbor was walking his dog during my photo shoot, the first time that’s ever happened and made for a good laugh between my photographer and myself!

I am still semi participating in my private Facebook group’s challenge

and today the inspiration idea was to wear ruffles….

That didn’t suit me , so I opted for my boho loving side to come out and play…

With a Ruana and Fridge, lol…

Animal print isn’t that boho, but I am a huge fan!

DSC_2958-2

I am rather pleased with the neutrals popped by my necklace and boots…

Since I invested in these beautiful ankle boots , I will probably wear them quite often.

This wonderful leather boots by Isaac Mizrahi can be found here..

My ruana was purchased at Burlington last year and my necklace is one I got at Charming Charlies on my Vegas trip!

DSC_2951-2

Here is Tuesday’s outfit and for that day, the challenge was to color block.

As a lover of color , I’ve done brights on brights and brights with neutrals…

My big love of this season is tone on tone looks , which also qualifies as a version of color blocking.

As long as I have a little bit of print as in my thrifted olive gingham blouse here, I think tone on tone is my new love for the season and have done it with pink and burgundy as well.   DSC_2978-2 (1)

It was quite a windy day today, that ended with rain and lots of it..

I loved how the wind picked up in this shot and showed the fringe on my ruana…

I am thrilled that I invested in these burgundy boots as they are a highlight of this outfit, which

I find surprising as I thought the animal print ruana would steal the spotlight, lol…

Self Care

Today in self care I’d  have to say that inbetween our two bowling events of the day, stopping by Sam’s Club and picking up a rotisserie dinner to leave in the warming door was perfect.   We got back from the second event around 6:45 and were both starving!  Vegetables and dinner was on the table with little clean up!

Dear Readers, Share with me….

What did you do today that would qualify as self care?

Would love to hear your thoughts

Gratitude

I am grateful for the fun I had chatting with homeschooling mom’s at bowling today.

I am grateful that my getting tough and threatening to leave worked and my stubborn son, put his wrist brace on.

I am grateful that after 3 weeks of not going to the extra bowling clinic due to a hurt back and stomach issues, that my son went back and got some good pointers.

I am grateful that my son texting me today that there was a report of a man in a ski mask who stolen a rifle and was seen on the street of my son’t apartment didn’t turn into national news and another college incident.

I am grateful to see my youngest and his father working together to take down our old tv above the fireplace and replace it with the new tv my DH earned from being salesman of the month.  Love this time for father and son without the other siblings around… precious…
